Sharp Shooter.

(Ignore my weird parted and fluffy hair. It was after a long hard day with Weebs and wasn't fixed. ;)

Husby and a few other guys have taken up the sport of shooting. Well, they've always shot, but now they are practicing a lot so they can go to matches and shoot competitively. It's always something new with them....

The other night, Husby was in the backyard shooting at a homemade target and I promptly put Levi in his swing and headed out to join him. "Let me have a try at that", I said as I walked outside. He gave me a giant sideways smirk and handed me the gun.

I shot once and did pretty well. I shot again, and...well, let's just say I'm a pro!

See the one outside the pink? That wasn't mine, it was Husby's. :) The one on the pink? IT'S MINE! I was sooooo proud! Husby couldn't believe his eyes, and well, neither could I.

I guess you could say I'm a natural.

I am a modern day homemaker with a passion for family, cooking, celebrating, decorating, travel, and memory making! The Lord has blessed me with the desires of my heart in my husband and our two sons. We recently built our dream home and cultivating a loving and happy haven for my family is where I find so much joy.

  8. Good job Whit. I guess all the target practice your dad gave you at the age of three paid off. I might add.... how many dad's would teach a three year old to target practice IN THE HOUSE? Oh well, the beloved .22 bullet behind the grandfather clock holds very special memories. I will never forget coming home early from a meeting to find you in purple sweats, protective head gear, holding a rifle and a target screaming, "I made a bull's eye momma." I had no idea everytime I left, there were rifle and pistol shenanigans going on in the living room!!

Did the gun not have much back fire? One time I shot a gun and it made a bruise on my shoulder. : (

  20. Great shot Whitney. You must have had a good teacher....like your mom, dad and brother.
    Where was "Pinky"?

  21. Oops--I guess your mom didn't teach you but it was your dad. I'll never forget when I started working for your dad at the old drug store. I was new to OK and new to LG and the Drug business--I was working and next thing I know your dad is standing back in the filling area and shooting a box full of old papers as a target across the room on DJ's wall. I could not believe my eyes. He wanted to show a man how great the gun was and how great a shot he was. He made the target right smack in the middle.
There was another time when we had a rat in the back of the pharmacy and Kevin shot it right in the corner of the old restroom..
    So amazing..your family.

  22. My husband has a world title for sporting clays! He was on the US shooting team, but never got to shoot with them because of 9/11 - the plane to New Zealand obviously couldn't take off so he never got to compete. But he's awesome :) if Husby and his friends (or you!) ever want to try moving targets, his parents have a shooting range in Skiatook. It's called Longshot.
