I went to work this morning and only lasted until 10:30. The fever came back with a vengence and I could barely keep my eyes open. I took that as a sign I should go home. So I did.

And.... I crashed on the couch for FOUR hours. I missed 3 calls and 4 texts even though my phone was right by my head. I am tellin' ya - I was out. It was so easy to drift off into sleepy town because it is storming and raining here and my wind chime was dancing all around.

It was a wonderful time of rest.

Then I woke up and watched entirely too many episodes of "Bringing Home Baby" and "Take Home Chef". Ah, I love those shows. Husby came home a few minutes ago while I was watching an episode of "30 Minute Meals" which just so happened to be "sick day food", and she whipped up a delicious looking homemade soup. I feel like she did it just for me. She even ended the show waving at the camera and saying, "I'm sorry if you're sick today - feel better!" She must be watching me.

I hinted around that the soup sounded amazing, and as we speak, husby is in the kitchen slaving over a hot stove, making me some soup.

From a can.

Hey - I'll take what I can get!

I love a steamy bowl of vegetable soup and a grilled cheese when I'm sick. What do you like to eat while under the weather?
I am a modern day homemaker with a passion for family, cooking, celebrating, decorating, travel, and memory making! The Lord has blessed me with the desires of my heart in my husband and our two sons. We recently built our dream home and cultivating a loving and happy haven for my family is where I find so much joy.

  1. Sorry you're sick...feel better soon!
I'm most likely to be afflicted with a sore throat so I'm all for popsicles when I get sick. Oh, ramen noodles are great too.

  2. Ditto to what "the storlies" said!

Popsicles are all I wanted after my surgery when I wasn't feeling well.
And my youngest son can cook me ramen noodles, so I had a lot of them as well.:)

I hope you feel better soon!
    God Bless,

  3. oh man! sorry you started not feeling well again. I'm glad you got rest though.

I love eating butter toast on the very last day I am sick - you know, past the throw up and complete yucky feeling... Oh, and ginger ale.

    Feel better! Ahhh wind chimes.

  4. I hadn't planned on taking a picture, but since it came from you in your sickly state, I'll certainly make it happen. And I'd send you some of my soup if I could! It'd make you better in a snap!

  5. oh no! i hope you get better really soon!!! when i am sick i don't like to eat anything... i always lose my appetite. maybe i should get sick more often and that would solve my diet problems. ha

  6. Ugh, that sounds terrible! Hopefully that wasa the illness' "last hurrah" and you'll start to feel better really soon here.

My "sick" food is Campbell's Chicken Noodle soup and saltines. It has to be Campbells original condensed out of the can, none of that fancy stuff with veggies or curly noodles!

  7. I'm usually turned off by food when I'm sick. Sometimes I will go a whole day and think "wow, I forgot to eat today"

  8. I love your title of your blog! Glamorous Housewife...something I lost two kids ago but try not to be too shabby! Sorry you are sick...hope you feel better real soon!

  9. Hope you feel better soon. I watched that Rachael Ray tonight too. That soup looked so yummo- as she would say. I like soup when I have a cold and boiled potatoes with a little butter and salt when I have been really, really sick. Oh, and of course saltines and ginger ale!

    Hugs to you. Feel better!

  10. I hope you feel better soon! I think you just need a can of plain'ol chicken noodle soup (campbell's of course) and a nice piece of buttered toast, that should do it!

  11. I hope you feel better soon! I think you just need a can of plain'ol chicken noodle soup (campbell's of course) and a nice piece of buttered toast, that should do it!

  12. Awww, I'm sorry you're sick! Feel better!

  13. my husband always makes me chicken noodle in a can he tries so hard. oh and he gets me flowers to he is sweet.
I hope you get better soon

  14. Get Well Soon!

I usually eat chicken noodle soup and jello and saltine crackers when I feel well enough to eat again.

  15. chicken broth or tomato soup are sure soothers for me.

popsicles also help with "the mend"

  16. Well of course she was talking right to you!

You can't beat a peanut butter sandwich dipped in chicken noodle soup on a sick day; hope you feel better!

  17. we were both disappointed in the crackers. they had the consistency of butter cookies (seeing as how there was an entire stick of butter in them) but they were peppery and cheesy. sounded good in theory, but i don't think i'll be making them again.

  18. I found your blog from Pioneer Woman (I just love her!) and I've enjoyed stopping by yours too.My hubby is home sick - sounds like he has the same mess you have, fever & chills... I am trying the soup thing with him too. I like old fashioned chicken noodle..homemade. Hope you are feeling better soon. Get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids!

  19. So sorry you are still sick!

I love chicken noodle soup when I am sick and usually go with a grilled cheese too if I am really hungry. I don't know what but I just love the taste of chicken broth when I am sick...mmm. I will even eat to 10 cent packs of Ramon Noodle - haha - they just taste good when I am under the weather!

    Hope you feel better soon...

  20. Chicken noodle soup and a grilled cheese really hits the spot when I am sick!

  21. So sorry you're still not feel good Whitney. I love noodles with butter when I'm sick...kinda weird, but that's what my mom always made me.

  22. Hope you feel better! Chicken noodle soup is what I like when under the weather.

My husband would love to go sky diving but I am with you and would try to postpone it. I'm too chicken to even go on a big rollercoaster.

  23. So nice of Husby to make you soup! Dave takes good care of me when I feel sick. When I am sick I normally just sleep all day. Literally. When I don't feel good, my body just shuts down and I can't even get out of bed--so normally I don't eat. Which isn't good. Keep resting!

  24. I'm so sorry you are still ill!

I like Potato Cheese soup on a sick day!

  25. Grilled cheese and tomato soup is always good, and easy to make if no one is around to play nurse.

P.S. I'm having a Give Away nest week!

  26. Yuck! I hope you feel better soon! It's no fun being sick.

I enjoy grape juice and mashed potatoes when I'm that kind of sick. With gravy. (o:
