Weebie Wednesday: Put Me In The Zoo!

15Months-30

On Labor Day, we woke up and headed to the Zoo!

.....

Along with the rest of the entire Green Country area. OY!

It was hot. It was crowded. We had to wait 30 minutes for food. We sweated. We complained. And one of us, who shall remain nameless, threw a fit.

15Months-22

Who can blame him ... he was hot, tired (we skipped his nap for the sake of fun), and hungry. I felt like jumping in his little wagon and pitching a fit right alongside him.

But I refrained for the whole "sake of setting an example" thing.

(So I ran to the monkey cage and threw myself a mini-fit for the apes to see.)

Weebie loved the elephants. Actually, he loved all of the animals. Whenever he encountered a new one, he threw his arms out to them as if to say, "come to me, I'll take care of you!" It was the sweetest thing!

Such a loving little fella.

We ran off and forgot his stroller at home but luckily they had some wagons for us to rent. I was surprised there were any left, what with the 93929857023 PEOPLE THERE THAT DAY.

15Months-27

The food options were quite sparse, but Levi enjoyed some ketchup. And like 3 fries. Oh, and a hotdog bun.

15Months-29

It was hotter and sunnier than I expected, so Husby darted in a gift shop to get some sunscreen for Weebie's white little head. The hat was $1 cheaper than the sunscreen, so guess what? Weebie got a new hat.

He's my Gilligan.

Our favorite part of the day was the petting zoo. Levi ran around like a wild man petting all the animals. And telling them something that sounded like "Wadda ada BOW"! He said it to each and every animal. How I wish I understood jibberish!

15Months-42

At the end of the day, we rewarded our little guy with a frozen treat. It was his world. He was a sticky mess by the time it was all said and done, but it was totally worth it. You would have thought he had a brick of solid gold!

15Months-46

We vowed to wait until the cooler temps hit and stay before venturing back to the Zoo, but we had a great time together. I love experiencing the world through the eyes of a child. He makes the sunniest days sunnier.

  1. Levi putting his hands out to the animals is just about the cutest thing I have ever seen!! What a fun family day! Coincidentally we did the exact same thing on Saturday, I think the exact same amount of people showed up then too, but it was still a really good time. I would walk through fire for my girl so a crazy over crowded zoo is like cake, I think you know what I mean :)

  2. Those pictures of Levi in his hat belong in a magazine or something - he has the most beautiful eyelashes on a child that I may have ever seen. Every time you post pictures of him, I know I sound like a broken record, but he is just. so. CUTE.

  4. I have a personal ban against our zoo unless it is in the 70's. I only break that rule for school field trips (sigh). I understand your misery, but I am sure you still had fun and some good memories!

  5. So cute! I love the hat... I've only been to that zoo twice, but it's a good one. Another one you should visit sometime is the Omaha Zoo. We went July 5th and it was crazy busy and HOT, but it has a lot of cool exhibits! :)

  6. You probably get asked this a lot, but since I can't find a search button on your blog, I am forced to ask :-). What kind of camera do you use?

  7. and that's why we went the week before, in the middle of the week when it was cool ;-) believe me, going to the zoo when it's hot and crowded is something you will only make the mistake of doing one time lol
