My thumbs sure have stayed active throughout the years, but boy how my fingers have missed the touch of the keyboard.

*Cracks knuckles*

Hello, friends!

It's been a long time. You know I couldn't stay away for too long. I've micro-journaled our life via social media for years (so thankful for all the different ways to perserve memories!), but there is just something about writing - elaborating on details and feelings that photos and 15 second video clips just can't quite capture.

I have to admit - I kind of don't know what I'm doing anymore. I went from blogging 5 days a week to literally nothing. And here I am in a whole new tech-y world that I don't know anything about, so this could be an interesting venture. But, I'm here for it.

Let me catch you up a bit on our family - you know, after I had babies, got busy, and dropped the blog like it was hot.

After an adventurous year up north, my husband completed his Fellowship training and has been practicing as a Sports Medicine and Family physician in the town twenty minutes from where I grew up. It's been sort of a full-circle situation. We have been here since 2015 (HOW?) and couldn't be happier. We love being close to family, our church, and just the community and quality of life that a small town so generously offers. It's safe. It's happy. It's home.

Our boys are in the 6th and 3rd grade (can you physcially hear my heart breaking, because I feel like you can...), and they're both growing and flourishing in their own unique ways. It's just incredible to watch. They are my greatest joy and it's so satisfying to watch them gradually transform into exactly the Lord has called them to be. Such an honor to get a front row seat. They are two really cool, really fun little people.

And me? I'm still the same ole Whitney. Just a little older and hopefully a little wiser. Ha! I am a full time homemaker and I'm fortunate to be able to volunteer a lot at the boys school and in our church ... well, when we aren't in a pandemic. I'm here still finding all that "charm in the chores and magic in motherhood" *wink*, but really not so much the chores. Am I right? How charming can the 18th load of laundry for the day actually be?

Last July we finally completed the build of our forever home, and I have stayed busy finshing out all the little details in making this house a home, but I still have a ways to go. It's a dream living here and being able to raise our boys with room to roam and explore. I wish so much that I would have blogged the whole building process, but who's to say I can't back track and blog some highlights? It was hands down THE most fun project of my life and I enjoyed every aspect of it so much, but man, we are so glad it is over and that we never have to do it again. The never-ending onslaught of decisions will wear a girl out! And after so many years of my husband's schooling/training, selling a house, moving across the country twice, and renting twice, it's so nice to finally be home - in OUR home - and planting our roots deep.

Move In Day, July 2020
Oh, and we added a new family member. A dog. But that's another story for another day.

Okay. We're briefly caught up.

So now. What do I want to do with this blog?

I'm not setting any expectations. No categories, no pigeon holes. I'm simply here for the writing - the creative outlet that I have desperately missed. And you guys. How I've missed you guys. I'm so thankful for those of you who have stayed in touch on Instagram. You guys are such a light in my life and it's pretty incredible how a stranger can come along on these ole interwebs and encourage a girls heart! I'm sure this space will ebb and flow, as life does, but right now - it just feels nice to be back.

I am a modern day homemaker with a passion for family, cooking, celebrating, decorating, travel, and memory making! The Lord has blessed me with the desires of my heart in my husband and our two sons. We recently built our dream home and cultivating a loving and happy haven for my family is where I find so much joy.
