Redecorating the Boys' Bath.

Quite a while ago, I blogged about the boys' bathroom and told about my decorating dilemma.  Their bathroom also serves as our guest bath, so I didn't know if I should keep it decorated "nice" to match the flow of the house, or since it is on their "wing", next to their rooms (we have a split floor plan), if it should be decorated for them.  After months of keeping it in it's original (pre-kids) decor, I finally decided "Hey! This is their bathroom.  I want to decorate it for them!"

They occupy the bathroom every day.  Guests, every now and then.  So, it only made sense for me to decorate it for the boys.  And you know what that meant?

Sailboats!

I am in love with all things nautical.  Couple that with my darling little boys, it seemed like the perfect route to take.

We were originally going to paint the walls white but we kept never having time, so I just went ahead with the decorating.  It's a very small bathroom, but I was able to do quite a bit with it.  I laugh because I only had one thing on the wall pre-redecorating it, and now I have several things!

Fun, fun!

I could not find sailboat pictures ANY. WHERE. and so I rummaged through the single prints at Hobby Lobby and wouldn't you know ... I found 2 different sailboats and a lighthouse.  Perfect!  I snatched them up along with some cutesy frames and went to work.

I love the way they turned out.  It just screams little boy to me.

I found a lighthouse lamp online and I am in love with it.  So, so cute.

And a nautical bathroom isn't complete without knot tying demo's!

My grandpa was in the navy and was the best knot tier on the boat.  This makes me think of him.

Levi loves the bottles.

I went with a navy and white striped shower curtain, and I wanted so desperately to find either sailboat or lighthouse shower hooks, but there are NONE to be found.  I swear I should start a blog called "Stuff People Should Make".  I need more people in the world to have my vision! Haha!

The change really brightened up the small space and when I revealed it to the boys, Levi absolutely LOVED it and made everyone who came over come look at his "new bathroom".  I knew he would  ... ever the encourager, that boy.  Makes you feel like everything you do is sheer perfection.  :)

And there we go!  There is our children's bathroom remodel!

Ahoy!

I am a modern day homemaker with a passion for family, cooking, celebrating, decorating, travel, and memory making! The Lord has blessed me with the desires of my heart in my husband and our two sons. We recently built our dream home and cultivating a loving and happy haven for my family is where I find so much joy.

  1. Firstly I love that you have "wings" in your house. It makes me think of old English castles and princesses! :)

The bathroom looks wonderful! I can't imagine how much the boys must love it.

  14. Love it!! I totally have/had light house hooks. We just renovated the hall bath and I took the hooks off. I'll have to see if I have them or try and remember where I bought them. They were really cute. I also have an anchor apothecary jar full of few shells I may be selling. Let me know if interested. I can email you a picture.

  18. What an adorable bathroom for boys! I love the shower curtain! Where did you get it? I have a blue and white bathroom that it would look right at home in ;-) I like the knot artwork too, and that it has a special connection to your grandpa's knot-tying days in the navy.
