Weebie was slick bald until he was around 8 months old. I'm talking cue ball bald. Not a hair to be found on his little noggin. Just sweet, soft, delicious baby skin. I loved it.
I gnawed on his little head all day long. I loved how the skin wrinkled up in the back and without the bother of hair, it was perfect to sit and kiss and smell. Oh, I loved his bald little baby head.
When he started growing hair, it came in with such gusto in the back. It is SO thick and became very long almost overnight. The top, however, is still pretty short. The longer and thicker the back became, the more wild it got and was impossible to fix. It was poofy and wild. And it was decided after much hesitation, that it was time for Weebie's First Hair Cut.
Boo hoo! Sob! Sob! Whaaa!
I was not excited about this.
Cutting off Levi's little curls meant that he was going to look like a big boy, and I wasn't sure I was up for that just yet. Husby decided he would be the one to cut it .... and I threatened him if he cut it too short.
Here is Levi BEFORE:

ANGEL LOCKS! Oh my BABY!
Okay, from this angle his hair looks good. But the other side is a whole other story. His hair grew unevenly and one side sits pretty and does what I want it to while the other side rebels and often looks fresh out from the electrical socket.
Poof-tastic.

Another dilemma we faced that one side was starting to become mullet-ish...

While the other side was Farrah Fawcett-ish...

Despite those things, I did not want to let go of his golden locks. They are truly GOLDEN.

As you can see, Levi was less than thrilled with scissors taken to his head.

So he tried to escape.

Husby was so very patient, Weebie was so very not. And I was running around with my camera and video camera barking out orders to save each strand.

I was so obsessed with keeping his locks, that even Levi started gathering pieces up and handing them to me. What a sweet baby.

The Wet Down:

Look at how long! He looks like he belongs in the 70's.

I was pretty impressed with Husby's barbershop skills. I think he should open up a Baby Barbershop and hire me to sing little diddys to keep the kids entertained. Who wants to join my quartet?

Slowly but surely, Levi's little baby hair started to take actual form and he instantly turned 5. I held back the tears. My baby is becoming a big boy.

The end result is absolutely adorable. As much as I miss his wild locks of grandeur, this suits Levi much better and he looks like a living doll.

(He looks to be hanging his head in shame. I know, Levi. Mommy is sad, too.)

(Blowing kisses!)

I'm startled every time I look at him because he looks so much older. When it was all said and done, I was tempted to shave it all off and pretend he was bald again. But I refrained. Sadly, those days are gone, but new and exciting times lie ahead. Horray for Big Boys!!

I KNEW D could do it! HOORAY! He looks fantastic! What a big boy he is now! Such great pictures! Absolutely priceless! Well done Dr.D!
ReplyDeleteAwwww the little guy I nanny for recently got a haircut--amazing how a trim can turn a baby into a Little Boy!!
ReplyDeleteYours is a cutie!
Woah--your Hubby did a great job! I'm impressed! And Levi does look like a little man!
ReplyDelete"I was tempted to shave it all off and pretend he was bald again."
ReplyDeleteyou are so hilarious!! <3
your hubby did a WONDERFUL job...wow! Levi is adorable!!
You guys are so brave! Both my husband and I decided our boy was way too wiggly for us to attempt it (I had visions of a partially lopped off ear) so we took him to one of those kid haircut places. I have to say though, your husband did a great job! Levi looks great.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great job on the haircut and he behaved so well! Its amazing to watch a baby turn into a little kid... :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny how kids hair grows. A friend of mine has a little boy about Levi's age and he has already had 4 or 5 hair cuts b/c his hair grows soooo super fast.
ReplyDeleteThe cute looks great!
He is so, so handsome! Your hubby definitely did a great job with the cut!! I have twin boys who are just a bit younger than Levi - one has the shortest hair imaginable and the other has longer, poker straight hair. He could do with a cut, but I just can't bring myself to actually do it...it means they're growing up :(
ReplyDeleteOh he is so sinkin cute! Your hubby did a great job!
ReplyDeleteI went through the same thing. My oldest was as bald as a cue ball until he was 2 years old and when his hair grew in it grew with gusto. His first haircut made me so sad, but now (he's almost 8...gasp!) I love his haircuts. He looks so neat and clean cut. Just adorable! Your Weebie is a cutie pie and I love his expressions. Thanks for sharing him with us!
ReplyDeleteHe looks precious! And...yes, he does look instantly older. Good grief!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe D did that all by himself. It looks so good. Levi looks handsome!
ReplyDeleteScissors? Yikes! My little guy needed a haircut for the same reason, but I wouldn't dare bring scissors near the squirmy little boy. We have him a buzz cut and that was hard enough. He is very ticklish, and giggled and squirmed the whole time. But I miss his whispy baby hair!
ReplyDeleteLevi looks adorable with his new do.
I LOLed many times at this post. You are SO funny with the way you word things! And I agree, he does look way older! But absolutely precious!
ReplyDeletehow in the HECK did he cut his hair? does he have formal training?? wow...the result is FAB!!! he's adorable.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a little stud muffin! I love that he handed you strands of his hair, lol. Looks great, well done!
ReplyDeleteI love this post! So funny!! Levi is adorable with his new 'do!
ReplyDeleteSOOO FREAKIN CUTE!! I love the new DO!
ReplyDeleteAwww he does look like a big boy now! Big and handsome. Your husby did a wonderful cutting job.
ReplyDeleteHe looks so handsome!! (o: And I admire your hubby for cutting his hair. I'm too chicken to let me or my husband try on our own just yet!
ReplyDeleteLevi has the prettiest eyes! His hair looks great too :)
ReplyDeleteHow cute that Husby was the one to do the honors!
ReplyDeleteHe looks great! Your husband is a great baby barber.
ReplyDeleteLove the mullet/farah fawcett combo! His big boy cut looks so good and I am super impressed with your man's barber shop skills!
ReplyDeleteAwwww! This post made me smile :) How fun to have daddy give Weebs his first big boy haircut?!? Too cute! i love seeing all these precious little moments caputed on your blog, reminds me to get my camera out and start snappin'!
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Lulu
I've cut my sons hair a few times and each time I shed a few tears. He's only 8 months old, but his hair was out of control! He had these sideburns that wouldn't stop growing and then like 5 wisps on the top of his head.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I've ever commented on your blog before. I've been a follower for a few months now and love, love, love your blog. :)
It really amazes me how much older baby boys look after they get their hair cut! He's such a cutie!
