One of Husby's best friends from his hometown got married this weekend and we were blessed to be able to go and share in the celebration. We were in St. Louis for the majority of the time and we had so much fun. Husby and I did a lot of resting and of course, a LOT of eating!
When we leave town, we are all about the food. Wait, who am I kidding? We're all about the food when we're IN town, too. But it is so much fun to explore new little eateries in towns we aren't all too familiar with. Husby and I have made several trips to St. Louey in our day and so we have a few favorite "musts" that we hit up when we're in town. We also try and make it a point to go to new places, too. We ate a lot of insanely delicious meals and the scales weren't entirely too thrilled with me this morning. But, my taste buds sure were.

The place where toasted ravioli was invented. And mastered.

He makes great company.

Tortellini Bianco. Oh. My. GRACIOUS.
We stumbled upon this delicious Mexican joint where the tacos were incredible. The deep fried flour tortillas made the tacos an explosion of fantastical flavors.

So good. So good.
I wish I had the ability to recreate every good thing I've ever eaten in all the places I visit. But then, I guess it wouldn't be as fun to go back. So I'll just keep taking pictures of the heavenly food and daydream about when I can go back and eat it again!

We ate several other great meals that I didn't take pictures of, and we also visited Five Guys Burgers. I had never been to one, but when they beat out In-N-Out this year as "Best Burger in the US", we HAD to give it a try. It was good, but it wasn't better than In-N-Out. Not at all. It wasn't even better than my favorite local burger joint here in town. But then again, few places are.
St. Louis is such a great city. We have an absolute blast every time we visit.
And the food? We give it two thumbs up!

You managed to find a dainty way to eat a taco?? I thought that was impossible!
ReplyDeleteI thought the most amazing tacos were made 2 blocks from my house at this tiny Mexican place...but I may have to plan a trip to St. Louis to try those...they look soooo good!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to In & Out but hands down 5 Guys is my favorite burger place ever!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I live in St. Louis after college (years ago)...and wow I never knew that there were good food places there. sometime maybe you could share in case we go back there to visit. I just remember a lot of fast food restaurants (Del Taco or something) and stuff like that. Of course, we were young and not looking for food places. We lived in North County since he worked for place at the airport. I love Clayton (where i worked a lot).

Yummmm!!! Now I'm hungry!
ReplyDeleteSt. Louis DOES have great food!! The only thing I can't get behind is the provel cheese. Ew.
ReplyDeleteBy the way - those tacos look amazing! Yum.
That food looks awesome! (Love your blog, by the way. I’ve been following for a while. Levi is adorable - such a cute name too!)
ReplyDeleteTrying new restaurants is one of my favorite parts of a vacation. I've never been to St. Louis - but if I ever get out there I am totally getting those tacos-yum!
YUM!!! Looks like a delcious trip! I definitely agree with you - Five Guys can't hold a candle to In-n-Out. I think Five Guys is greasy and not so tasty. I saw that Ted Drewes custard on TV and thought it sounded like a fun place!
ReplyDeleteI love five guys burgers but their fries are so disappointing. Glad to see you are a fellow foodie!
ReplyDeleteOh Cunettos, how I love thee. I'm not even hungry, and those pics made me want to rush to St. Louis and eat!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed your trip to St. Louis. You must share the name of the Mexican place since I live here and have no idea where that it is.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Ted Drewes is about 15 minutes from where we live and it is so good. I have to keep myself away!
what is the name of the restaurant where you got the tacos??
ReplyDeletemmmmm, we love food too, well, errr, I really love food, and have influenced Hubby that way since we started dating, haha! it is so much fun finding new, yummy, places, especially when on a trip! and I openly admit, I love fried food! :) sounded like a yummy trip! ;) you look so cute and dainty in those pics :)
ReplyDeleteso fun! finding new restaurants is one of my favorite things...and being in a new town for grad school, that is pretty much what my roommate and i have done every night :)

ReplyDeleteOh! This post makes me miss my hometown so much! My husband, daughter, and I live in Louisville, KY right now...but we go back to the STL very often to visit family. I miss Imo's pizza, Blueberry Hill, Fitz's, Dewey's, Lewis and Clark...and so much more!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!
Yea, we have 5 Guys but def. not the best burger I've ever had...
ReplyDeleteCunetto's is to DIE FOR. You had my favorite dish. :) They also rock the toasted rav better than anyone I know.
ReplyDeleteAnd Ted Drewes? The best. :)
