Maxwell's Room!

Remember when Maxwell was in the hospital and my SIL, Hollie was up with him every day? They were a few hours away from home, so one weekend, Luke, Mom, Dad, Husby and I (and Levi) all got together and completely did the nursery - top to bottom! We painted and decorated. Decorated and painted.

And painted. And painted. Did I mention we painted?

Here is sweet little Maxwell.

And here is his room!

The theme is Where the Wild Things Are.

These pictures are actual prints from the book. Mom and I went to Hobby Lobby and got them framed.

Do you notice what the pillow says? Our cousin found that for him! So sweet!

The Ultimate Glider. Ahhhh.

See the lines on the walls? Well, they were brutal. Total nightmare. But so worth it! :)

It turned out just the cutest thing ever and I was so glad we got to help do that for them. Nurseries are so much fun!!!

Maxwell's suits him well. :)

I am a modern day homemaker with a passion for family, cooking, celebrating, decorating, travel, and memory making! 2. That is just the sweetest surprise ever! I've never seen that theme before in a bedroom - it's fabulous because it's not too "baby" and can easily become his "big boy" room.

Everything looks so great and the stripes are awesome. I like them better than verticals. I wonder if they are MORE difficult than verticals or if just stripes in general are a migraine In themselves...

What a great family you have {and are} to do that. =)

Even though the stripes were challenging, it was well worth it because it looks fantastic!

  12. I painted some similar lines in my son's room and it was SO annoying. The final look is great and looks amazing, but I doubt I would ever try that again!! Max's room looks great, you guys must have worked so hard. I'll bet they were thrilled!

  13. InCREDible! Agreed that you should go into business designing nurseries! Can I ask where the glider is from?

  14. Turned out FANTASTIC!!! After we painted Levi's nursery in stripes, I saw a commercial for a green tape called Frog tape. It's made for textured walls; suppose to make perfect lines when painting. We'll try it next time.

  17. I love it. I told my hubby that when we get pregnant that I wanted to do the babies room in "Where the WIld Things Are." since it was one of my favorite childrens books. He said I would scare the baby and my mom agreed. I love how you incorporated it into your room. I might even show my mom and the hubby so I can say.." Na, Na I was right. It could be done."

  18. I love the theme. So did you guys come up with the design/plan or did they already have things lined out how they wanted it?

  19. Hey Erin it's Luke

Hollie and I designed the nursery in it's entirety
several months prior to tiny's birth. I just asked the fam for help painting it because I've never painted a room before. Darins an awesome painter and taught us all how to. I told him exactly what we wanted and he knew exaxtly what to do. Mom and I spent about 14 hours assembling furniture, hanging pics and everything else so we could surprise Hollie. It blew her mind apart. Mr. Maxwell enjoys it quite thoroughly.
