Stew to Warm Your Crew.

Ha! Catchy, huh? I'm ridic.

I made a new stew recipe one night last week and it was fabulous. My little family goggled it up in nothing flat. It is simple because you just throw everything in the crockpot and step away for the day. Perfect for one of those jam-packed errand running week days. Or when you're up to your ears in laundry like I was.

Ingredients

1 pound beef stew meat, cut into 1 inch cubes
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt (I used way more than this - just add to your liking)
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper (Again, I used way more than this. I love pepper!)
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 onion, chopped
2 cups beef broth
3-4 potatoes, diced
4 carrots, sliced
1 stalk celery, chopped (I didn't have this so I omitted)

Directions

Place meat in slow cooker. In a small bowl mix together the flour, salt, and pepper; pour over meat, and stir to coat meat with flour mixture. Stir in the garlic, bay leaf, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, onion, beef broth, potatoes, carrots, and celery.
Cover, and cook on Low setting for 10 to 12 hours, or on High setting for 4 to 6 hours.

If you're like me and my house, stew can NOT be served without cornbread. I used this and to be honest, wished I had used Jiffy. You can not beat Jiffy in my opinion! But this was much cuter than Jiffy, I will give it that much.

  1. We like Jiffy, too. That stew looks good. I love making soups and chilis during the winter. Usually my rotation consists of chili, tortilla soup, chicken & noodles, and some other random recipes. Oh, and lots of pasta.

By the way, Levi's a doll - love the dimples!

  5. Looks yummy and fast! Did you not have to brown your meat first? Oh, and the cheap way to get stew meat is to buy a chuck roast and cut it in chunks yourself. A tip for those pinching pennies.

  8. Same stew I make at least once a month! It's a family favorite...perfect for the cool fall days here in Upstate New York!! I also love a chicken chili recipe I've been making for a year or so. Anything you can throw in one pot/crock pot and walk away from is the best!

  9. This sounds SO delicious! I'm bookmarking this, because it sounds like a great dinner for these cold months. And something that I can freeze for when Weston gets here, and I don't want to / have time to cook!
