My Latest Obsession.

I get on kicks.

And I run them into the ground.

Like the time I was going to make and sell aprons, so I took a sewing class and got a top of the line sewing machine for Christmas. I can make a super cute apron, let me tell ya, but please don't ask me the last time I made one.

Or the multiple times I was going to get in shape. In my garage you will find an elliptical machine, bikes, work out videos, and several issues of Shape magazine.

And let's not forget about the time I....well, let's forget about it after all.

All this to say, I'm on a new kick. A Cookie Cutter Kick!

Remember the Fall Festival/Craft Fair I blogged about last week? Well, while there, I happened upon the cutest little booth that sold the cutest cookie cutters in the world. And they are COPPER! You can bet your bottom dollar that I had to have some. And by some, I mean 16.

Aren't they beautiful? Let's ignore the fact that the last time I tried to make decorated sugar cookies, they turned out inedible. I am on a mission to learn. I am on a mission to make the cutest cookies in all the land.

My make-believe land, that is.

I've decided that I want to collect cookie cutters, but they can't just be ANY cookie cutter. They have to be copper. I want them to last for generations, and the copper ones are not only much prettier, but they are so much sturdier and heavier. They will last longer.

And maybe my great grandkids will enjoy them just as much as me.

What's my deal with wanting to pass things down these days? I guess children make you sentimental.

I am so happy I went to that craft fair! I made out with some fabulous items.

Now, time to figure out how to make icing that doesn't look like water....

  1. I think it is great that you get on "kicks". One of these days you will stumble upon on the one that is really YOU and you will become an expert at it! Who knows? I do hope, however, that you make some cookies with that crown cookie cutter. I love that one. Oh, and I love you.

  2. I just stumbled upon your blog and I love it! My grandmother passed down a huge box of cookie cutters to my mom and I can't wait for the day until i get the box. I have so many great memories of making cookies with them.

  3. Good luck with the cookies! The trick to the icing is meringue powde--you can buy it at Michaels or any craft store. You can also use egg whites, but the icing isn't cooked so I don't do that because it doesn't seem safe.

  6. That's exciting! I usually make fun cookies for showers, and they are usually sugar cookies (I will do like engagement rings and wedding cakes) and even use edible glitter on the diamond. Super cute! I should do a post on those. You could totally use that recipe! Now i"ll have to make some cookies!

Silver Dollar City has really cute cookie cutters as well in that one bakery store. They have a whole wall lined with them. They are little metal ones. That's where I found the engagement ring and wedding cakes. I think I also got a poodle one there. (-:

  8. I think this is a win. You can make a super cute apron to wear while you make the perfect sugar cookie. Plus the cutters are really cute...and if you happen to go off this kick (which may or may not happen), you can always find a way to use them in your decorating.

  11. Those are adorable! I get on kicks too. My scrapbooking one set me back hundreds of dollars. lol So, i'm a terrible baker but i have a sugar cookie recipe that I made with my nieces and nephews last year for Christmas. They turned out great. I don't like the way the icing tastes on cookies so I just buy colored sugar and decorate with that and chocolate chips and sprinkles. It was easier for the kiddies anyway. If you'd like me to send you that recipe let me know.

  12. If you want a glaze on your sugar cookies (not a frosting) that is thicker than mine, just use a lot of powdered sugar and a LITTLE bit of water. Mix 'til smooth and spoon onto the warm cookies. We'll have to do that together; huh?

  17. I am going to fb message you a recipe for Moravian sugar cookies. They are so delicious. They have lemon and almond extracts for an extra little "hmm, what's that? I don't know, but it's yummy" taste. And they are very cookie-cutter friendly! :)
