Yard Sale Progress: Part 2.

Have you wondered why you haven't heard from me lately? Well, it's partly because I chopped off my head and threw it in the backyard. Whoever convinced me to have a yard sale should reevaluate ever giving me advice again. Oh wait, this was my big hair brained idea.

Part of the chaotic mess of the Yard Sale of All Yard Sales is the location. We live in a tiny suburb of a nice sized city. No one ever comes to my town because, well, there is no reason to. Except if you are coming to see me and give me cookies (I like all kinds). So, I decided to journey back to my hometown (where I grew up) to set up the sale. Why would I choose to do this, you may be wondering...

Well, a month before Husby and I were married, we had a yard sale and made over $700. It was unreal. I had never heard of people making that kind of money in a yard sale. But we did and we took it on our honeymoon. The reason we made such a killin' is because of the location. You see, my dad owns a Pharmacy SMACK DAB in the middle of town. We set up directly behind his store, under his covered parking lot and so we had a crazy amount of customers.

So I figured if I was going to go to all the trouble of sorting, pricing, organizing and....yelling, then I might as well go back and try my luck at making the big bucks again.

It BETTER be worth it.

Everything is finally ready to go. We actually changed the location from the Drug Store to the Family Life Center of the Church I grew up in, simply because there is lots more room, air conditioned (the highs here are 102!), and we can set up the night before. Beautiful. Now all I need is a dozen donuts and for Thursday to get here.

Well, I think it's time to reattach my head and grab my calculator. Oh, and I better put my game face on. I'm the world's worst haggler on planet Earth. I always end up giving everything away. Be strong, Whitney, be STRONG.

This may be the last you hear from me until Monday. I have a crazy rest of the week and Friday is my BIRTHDAY (remember how I like cookies? Oh, and diamonds), so I will be celebrating and be back next week with lots of updates, the yard sale results and....a start to a little something that I'm going to blog my way through. Get ready!
I am a modern day homemaker with a passion for family, cooking, celebrating, decorating, travel, and memory making! The Lord has blessed me with the desires of my heart in my husband and our two sons. We recently built our dream home and cultivating a loving and happy haven for my family is where I find so much joy.

  24. Yard sales can be a lot of work but they're always fun. Sounds like you guys did great last time! Hopefully you'll do just as well this time around. It's a great idea to not just have it at your house but to use a more public location. Good luck!
