Smack.

Seventy-two percent of all car accidents happen within 25 miles from your home.

Not in my case.

100% of my accidents happen ONE MILE from my home.

Enraging.

We have lived in our new house for two years (in July) and we have been smashed in our rear end FIVE times. Five times! That is absolutely ridiculous! Two of the five times has been in the exact same location. Two other times has been while sitting still at a STOP LIGHT!

I complain every day that people around here can’t drive, and that I wish all of their licenses would be revoked. Instances like this confirm the fact that I AM RIGHT.

On my way home the other night, I got hit. Husby was in a car in front of me and I was following him home when smash – a giant truck hit me. It absolutely baffles me how people can’t see a car in front of them.

I talked to my doctor and everything seems to be okay, but she gave me some signs to watch out for. It makes me nervous to even go anywhere for these next four weeks. I can’t control who will and who won’t hit me when I am minding my own business, and hitting a pregnant lady is serious stuff.

I’m thinking about trading our car in for a big loud bright truck, because if this continues once Levi is here, I will not be as nice to these horrible drivers as I am now.

  1. Oh my gosh! I bet that person felt like scum of the earth when he saw you were pregnant. I cannot believe that. Drivers need to be more careful.

  2. I am so glad you're okay. That's really scary anytime, let alone while you are pregnant! I bet that driver was pooping his pants with bricks when he saw your pregnant self get out of your car - not only did he rear end someone, he rear ended a pregnant woman! And her husband was there too! HA HA HA on him!

  5. I'm glad you're okay! So glad! Oh that just makes me cringe.

I know what you mean about accidents happening within 1 mile of your home. All of mine have been the same...unfortunately, it's because I've backed into people parked on the curb behind my driveway...

Not since I've had kids though. Kids make you a nervous, cautious, protective driver.

  6. Oh no! That is so sad! You shouldn't even have to look for signs...but now you do. That's sad. I hope everything will be alright. Five times is a lot. Remember to give yourself plenty of space between you and the vehicle in front of you. Then if someone looks like they may run into you can have room to scoot up a little without rear ending the person in front of you. :(

  7. PS: My parents have had so many people wreck into their yard (bad driving, it's not even in a curb). He said that most accidents occur close to home so they are going to move....haha! He's so funny!

  9. I'm so sorry that you got hit. At least ya'll are all fine. Is the road near your house that dangerous or are the drivers just that bad?

  10. I'm pretty sure you don't live in Northern VA, but the driving tactics sound familiar. Ugh, it's so frustrating! I'm glad you and Levi are okay and I hope your car gets put into a little bubble from now on to keep you and the little man safe!

  11. Wow, really, that is just insane that you have been hit that many times. I would not have been as nice as you. I think, no I know I would have jumped out of the car and ripped that jack a** a new one. Glad you are alright and hope things continue to be okay!

  14. poor thing! praying for you and levi. you're right...people do not know how to drive! they're ususally too busy texting, messing with the radio, or intoxicated. my huge thing here is not using turn signals when switching lanes. i've almost witnessed several wrecks with that.

  15. Oh my goodness, how scary!!! I am so glad you are okay! Hang in there, just a few more weeks!

  17. How scary. I'm glad you and Levi are alright. Its crazy you've been hit that many times. Every day driving to and from work I wonder constantly how so many of these people got their license. Horrible drivers! They're everywhere!! Biggest pet peeve is lack of turn signal.

  18. Oh good grief, that is so scary! Why can't those drivers see you?!? You need to wrap a thick layer of bubble wrap around your belly for the next 4 weeks!

  19. that is absolutely ridiculous. What did the guy say?

  20. A pregnancy email I get weekly actually said to start avoiding driving as much as possible for this reason. Crazy! I'm glad you & Levi are okay!

  34. Glad you're okay. When I was pregnant with my last child I had several mishaps in the car: (1) officer said I ran a stopsign. (I'm pretty sure I came to a complete stop.) Then he preceded to ask for said license and of course my purse was in the backseat. I couldn't just turn around with that big ole belly and he wasn't amused with my dilemma. (2) Got a speeding ticket on my way to the OB. Again, no sympathy from the officer. (3) Got the driver's door smashed in sitting in Wendy's Drive Thru. He worked for some bottling company (who shall remain nameless) and claimed he never noticed I was 6.5 months pregnant. Unlike you I was HUGE!!!

  36. SO glad you are okay!!! I need to staty away from those parts of your town!! ;)

  37. You know what's weird? I have had this irrational fear lately of driving in a car! I get behind the wheel and all I can think about are all the lunatics out there who could harm my baby by driving like idiots! I feel like I've spent 9 months growing this baby inside me and I don't want to be around ANYTHING that might hurt him!

I'm so sorry about your accident! I hope you stuck your cute belly in the driver's face and made him feel really bad!!
