Nursh.

If you know me personally, you know how I tend to shorten or lengthen words to make them more fun. For instance, I am a chandelier freak and I affectionately call mine "chandy". The nursery, my new favorite room in the house, is now the "nursh". Unfortunately, Husby wouldn't allow a chandy in the nursh. Hrmph.

My family and friends laugh at my names for things, and Husby shakes his head and gives me a crooked smile. That crooked smile means "you are ridiculous but you crack me up".

Between my Mom and I, Levi already has a plethora of nicknames.
Leevie
Dee-bye
Deebie
Leebies
Weebie

Those are just to name a few. He is going to be so confused as to what his name really is. I can just envision him going to Kindergarten and saying, "Hi! My name is Dee-Bye!". Poor thing.

Um, we should probably settle down with the pet names, huh?

Saturday was declared "Levi Day" by Momsy and me and we concentrated solely on his nursery. My In-Laws came last week and did a fabulous job painting his room and they helped set up his crib! Now, all that is left is waiting for a few other pieces of furniture to arrive (they should be here this week) and to hang things on the wall. Oh, and the window treatment that I just ordered last night.

THE NURSH IS SO SO CUTE AND I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!

Really. It's precious. And it looks JUST like my little Levi. It looks so much better than I was even imagining. I am beyond excited to have the "grand reveal" and show you all. Don't worry, it is coming soon and very soon.

Let me give you a sneaky peek pic of Husby and his Dad taking the crib out of the box.

I am dying to show you more pictures, but I promised myself I would wait until it is finished.

Do/Did/Will any of you have "themes" for your children's nursery? If so, what was/is/will it be?
I am a modern day homemaker with a passion for family, cooking, celebrating, decorating, travel, and memory making! The Lord has blessed me with the desires of my heart in my husband and our two sons. We recently built our dream home and cultivating a loving and happy haven for my family is where I find so much joy.

  1. Count your blessings. You are so very lucky to be able to just buy furniture, etc. My second daughter is pregnant with her first baby, and she probably won't be able to buy so many nice things.
Of course, we will probably help out, but I am amazed at everything you are able to "buy".

  2. i am so excited to see your nursery when its finished! i am living vicariously through your nursery...since London is sooo expensive, we live in a one room flat. when our little Eli comes in July he will have to share every single inch of our space. no nursery for him. (i am sure he wont mind though) so i am really excited to see yours! :)

  5. I knew immediately that "nursh" meant nursery and got very excited that I was going to see it. Imagine my disappointment when I realized that it was just a tease. A picture of Darin and Curt in their white t-shirts did not curb the disappointment.

  6. Yay! Your nursh will be so cute I'm sure. My oldest's room is cute little patchwork birds everywhere in pinks and greens. And my babie's nursery is also pinks and greens, but more muted and mostly floral. I'm actually hoping to post pics of both on my blog today or tomorrow as I'm trying to show off our new house.

Can't wait to see pics of Baby Dee-bye's room!!!

  7. Yay for the nursh!! :) I can't wait to see pictures of it once you have it all set up!! I don't have any babies yet, but I am sure I will have a theme once we do!! :)

  8. Oh, if and when babies enter my world, I will definitely have a theme for the nursh! I don't understand these people who wait to find out what they're having and then they hurl their little bundle of joy into a unisex world. Talk about gender confusion!

  9. oooh! yeah! thanks for posting about the Nursh! :) love the name, by the way! I can't wait to see the whole thing, and the finished product, ,which I'm sure you can't wait for either!!

  11. we live in souther cali by the beach so our babies (well almost 2 year old) theme is beach/ surfy! I love it. His room has always been the best room in the house!

  12. Love all the nicknames. So cute! I haven't even thought about if I will have a theme for a nursery, but I'm sure I will. It just fits my personality go have a theme!
Can't wait to see the nursery!

  13. I am almost dying of anticipation to see your nursery - considering everything you do is always fabulous! (o: I can't wait to see the finished product. We are doing a forest theme for Tommy's nursery. My mom-in-law is going to get started on the forest mural this week I think. Should be fun!

    Don't keep us waiting toolong!

  14. You are such a tease! I want pictures! heehee! :)

  15. Yay! I'm really excited for you guys! I can't wait to see the pictures!

  16. Oh yes, gotta love nursery themes! With my first daughter it was a blue room with bright butterflies all over the room (looked a lot prettier than it sounds).

Second daughter had a star-and-moon themed room that I redid after her first birthday. I did a purple and cream room with a shabby chic feel.

Pregnant with third baby. If girl we're going to do burgandy, green, pink and cream with a ladybug theme. If a boy, I'm stuck! I can't decide. I really like elephants so maybe an elephant theme.

  17. Can't wait to see the pictures! We don't have children yet, but, I do like to think about what their nursery will be like. I highly doubt we'll do a theme--I'm very economical (read: cheap) and in theory, I would want something that could be re-used for a boy or a girl, etc. Of course, I'm sure that when I am pregnant, I'll want to do a real fancy nursery for a boy or a girl, but, I realize that it's probably just not in the cards for us financially. Our guestroom (future baby room) is blue and yellow, so, I think those colors would work for a baby at some point!

  18. Ameila's nursery is themed with birds. The bedding is "Birdsong" by Kidsline and it's already discontinued. That just means it's cheaper to buy the matching coordinates :)

  19. You should hear the nicknames I have for our dog Grace. They don't even make sense, but I call her by them so often that she now thinks they are part of her name!

  20. For my little boys room we had everything in expresso brown and blue. It looks so nice together.

All of the decorations and crib set are animals....monkeys, giraffes, etc. Too cute.

  21. I've told myself that I won't look at the Nurseries section on Rate My Space until I become pregnant. Hahaha, I just can't wait! And I can't wait to see your nursery! I bet it's just perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  22. At least those nicknames sound like Levi! It could be worse - you could be calling the poor kid Bubba. :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yay for the nursery! We didn't have a theme, since we wanted to be able to use the same stuff for our next baby, too. I remember your post from a looooooong time ago about nursery stuff and I think I have a pretty good idea what you guys are going to do ... I'll have to see if I'm right!! Oh, and I was going to ask you--I read in your Chicago post that you were lugging your "big" camera around ... did you get a new camera?? What kind?? It's so nice to have a good camera to take pics of your little guy!

And I'm totally going to Sephora tonight. :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Let me clarify: We didn't have a theme at first, but now we have a boat theme. We will use the same bedding and stuff for the next baby and the baby is a girl, we will mix it up and create a new theme with what we have. Just to clarify. :)

    And no, I'm not pregnant!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. *if* the baby is a girl. Oh my goodness, *if*. Someday. A long ways from now. Geesh!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I can't wait to see the Nursh!

If I ever have a girl it will have so much frills and lace, that the boys will run!

And a boy, I'm not quite sure, but it will most likely be a sports themed nursery. Since my husband is a sports fanatic!

I cannot wait to see your theme!

  27. I LOVE shortening words ;-D

And aaahhhhhh I can't wait!!! Hurry up nursh!

  28. Baby Ruthie's nursery is in baby farm animals and red and yellow. My mother made the blanket for the bed and my sister-in-law painted the cutest murals on the wall of a barn, a cow, a rooster, and some corn. It's much fun!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Oh i can't wait to see pictures!! I totally already have themes picked out and I'm not even pregnant!!

  30. We have the same issue with Avery!! We never call her Avery... always Pootie, or Poots, Pootie-pants, Pootie-Pie, toots, tootie, etc.... we always say she's going to go to kindergarten and say, "my name is Pootie, not Avery!"

Our "nursh" is pink and green and "happily ever after" complete with frog princes, castles, unicorns, and butterflies :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I know what you mean about nicknames and silly made up words...I thought forever that my oldest son would have some sort of speech impetiment b/c of the way we talked to him...but all was/is well.

Can't wait to see the nursh.

My oldest son's nursery was "dogs".

My daughter's first room was "pink and green" themed w/ Pottery Barn florals.

Our youngest son...well, he shares a bedroom w/ our oldest boy and they have Pottery Barn bedding that is ABC. Very cute and I still love it.

  32. I can't not wait to see Levi's room! I love baby rooms!!

  33. I have an idea of what your nursery will look like too because I saw your theme in the church bulletin! I love it, especially if it's what I'm picturing from your post last year when you went to market. (I think I might take another peek...)

My kids' nurseries were less than ideal, but my stepmom bought them decorations for their rooms when they got older. The girls' room is yellow with flowers and butterflies all over, while Caden's room is a train theme. We have had them decorated like that for several years now, but I still get a lot of compliments, especially on Caden's. I love also that they won't be growing out of them anytime soon. Can't wait to see the big reveal!

  34. "Dee-Bye" How cute! Trust me, you will continue to do this til he grows up and actually enjoys it! It's true! I always changed song lyrics to fit my kids' names in them and they remember that when they hear the song on the radio or mp3 playa. Sweet memories...

  35. Ha, Katie commented a million times....she is funny. ;)

Assuming I don't change my mind, our future nursery will not be "theme-y." Meaning I just want it to feel like another extension of the overall feel of the house. You know, same color palette and hues, just modified for baby. I'm not into cartoon characters or extremely bright colors, so that's off the list.

Looking forward to seeing what you guys did!
