I had my 26 week Dr.'s appointment yesterday and you know what that means - GLUCOSE SCREENING. Let's all jump and cheer and do back flips.
Um, or not. It was my least fun appointment.
I downed the orange junk like there was no tomorrow and prayed that it wouldn't come back up. At least they served it to me cold and not lukewarm. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure everyone in the room would have seen an orange fountain spewing from my lips. Yuck.
It tasted like very thick, very sweet kool-aid. And I'm not a fan of kool-aid.
But OH MY BABY BOY! He is precious!! And HE IS HUGE!! He is 2 pounds 8 ounces and is in the 83rd percentile!! She told me to get ready because it looks like I will be giving birth to a toddler. HAHA! She said he will more than likely be over 8 lbs. Nice. That ought to be fun. All I can say is they better go ahead and give me two epidurals - just in case.
When I was born, I weighed 8 lb. 14 oz. (YIKEARAMA). My brother weighed 9 lb. 4 oz. (DOUBLE YIKEARAMA). Looks like I'll be getting that fatsy baby I talked about last week! The pictures we got of him this time weren't great. You couldn't really see much. But oh you could see his cheeks and they were so chubbarific!! I'm in love.
Oh, and he is head down now so pray with me that he stays in that perfect position for the rest of the pregnancy! :)
And that my friends, is my pregnancy update. I will post pictures of my every growing belly soon and very soon!
On funzie note, my cousin is due ONE WEEK before me!! Our pregnancies have been so similar that it's frightening. We are delivering in the same hospital, and I so so so hope that maybe, just maybe, we'll be in there together.

I just did my glucose screening last week - though mine was quite lukewarm and not so tasty going down. :)
ReplyDeleteLove both of your dresses in that photo!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be surprised if both of you delivered on the same day! Ha ha!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could be there to see all of the cutesey stuff she gets at her shower next week ;-(
Hopefully you'll have them on the same day so your family can all come at once..: )
ReplyDeleteSo glad you and your little one are both doing so well!!! Sorry you had to drink that nasty stuff.. blech!! Love you and your cousins dress in that pic!
ReplyDeleteIt would be so wonderful if you were both in hospital together!!
ReplyDeleteGlad Levi is doing so well!

i don't think i've ever heard any good stories about the glucose test, like "oh i loved the test today! I'd drink the orange stuff everyday if i could!" ;)
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see your growing belly pics!
I just had my glucose screening this week, too, and it was some kind of nasty!
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous that they are able to tell you your baby's weight and estimate his delivery weight, too. Whenever I ask my doctors they say something like, "Most babies weight about X pounds right now." I don't care about most babies! What does MY baby weigh??? He better weigh 30 pounds cause if not, I've got a lot of 'splainin to do about my weight gain!!!
Oh, and my Bean isn't head down yet. Cross your fingers he decides to flip around in the next few weeks!!! Maybe your Bean could have a cyber pep-talk with me Bean...
I just wanted to share from experience that having a bigger baby was a lot easier than having a smaller one. My biggest was 9.15 and my smallest was 7.12. She was by far the hardest to deliver!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he's head down!
Oh how neat to have a cousin due almost the same time! YOu guys will always have that bound with your children
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the appt went well!!! Big bays are cute :) He will be adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteOh I am just dreading the glucose screening...yuck!! I am so glad you have a family member to experience pregnancy with! Your little man will always have a friend to play with a family get togethers!!
ReplyDeleteSo fun that you and your cousin are pregnant at the same time!! and I just love big fat babies!!
ReplyDeleteI like kool-aid but i'm not so sure i'll ever like that stuff! Eek! Yay for a big healthy baby!
ReplyDeleteIm glad they wait until you are 26 weeks pg in order to drink the yucky orange stuff bec if I were to have to take it today.. i would not keep it down! Sorry you are sick too... I feel like living here... gives me horrible allergies.. when I was off at college.. no sinus/allergy problems.. come back.. and problems.. booo!! My dr told me to take tyenol cold.. so I have been... hope it works:) Yeah for a healthy chubby cute baby:)
ReplyDeleteThe glucose screening sounds horrible. Yucky!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad Levi is doing well! I bet his chubby little checks are so cute on the ultrasound!
I don't know if I will be able to keep that nastiness down when it's time--oh me!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to see your little Levi again!! :)
Both dresses are adorable!
ReplyDeleteAnd yay that little Levi is big and healthy!
I am dreading the glucose screening thing - I've heard horror stories about how awful it tastes. Blech! And I am super sensitive with tastes - especially sweet things, and I realy hope it doesn't actually come back up!
ReplyDeleteOur baby BOY weighs half a pound we found out yesterday. And I've gained ten! Where did the other 9.5 come from?! I'm sure it has nothing to do with my bread consumption.
My glucose screening is a week from Monday. They gave me a bottle of the glucose drink and I just have to drink it one hour before my appointment. It's the lemon lime kind...fun fun!
ReplyDeleteAt least he's healthy! :)
ReplyDeleteFunny, I had my glucose test this morning. My doctor offered it in fruit punch, and it didn't taste bad at all. Do you get ultrasounds with each visit? If so, you are one lucky girl. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!
ReplyDeleteI drank the orange stuff cold and it wasn't that bad...it tasted like really really sweet orange soda.
ReplyDeleteMy baby was 8.11 lbs...chubby babies are too cute.
Praise God for a great appt! That is so fun that you and cous are preggy together! That would be so fun to be delivery cohorts!!
ReplyDeleteI think I could taste that orange goo while I was reading your post. Yucky!
ReplyDeleteHow FUN, your little Levi will have an instant playmate.
You're funny! I am so glad that all went well.
ReplyDeleteYou mean you didn't like the orange drink??!! Haha! Well, my doctor said to NOT throw it up, so I was expecting a horrible taste and it wasn't too bad considering...but would I volunteer to do it again, um, no :-)
ReplyDeleteOn a non-baby note. Let's talk about how absolutely ADORABLE both of your dresses are!!! SOOO cute!
ReplyDeleteMy orange goo was lukewarm and I hurled it up immediately after my test. It was like my stomach was just waiting for them to draw my blood and them WHAM! No more orange goo in the stomach!
ReplyDeleteThat is so exciting that you were able to see the little babe again! We won't get to see ours, unless we go to a special ultra sound place and pay for it... I just did the glucose last week and I chose the lemon lime, I thought I was going to hurl for that entire hour!
ReplyDeleteChubby babies are the best! aaaaw, little Levi is getting so big! I can't wait to see your preggers belly after spring break. I bet it is going to be so much bigger from when I saw you yesterday. I just love it! Pregnant bellies are so cute! Wouldn't it be fun if you guys were in there at the same time!?!
ReplyDeleteekk for the orange stuff! I also LOVE LOVE LOVE your dress!
