(Sorry for the quality of the pictures - they were taken with my phone this morning when I realized I hadn't had a tummy pic in a month!)

I only have 12 more weeks to go. Twelve more! Is that not the craziest thing you have ever heard in your life?! Okay, maybe not the craziest thing YOU have ever heard, but it’s quite possibly the craziest thing I have ever heard. That is, until I hit 10, then 9, then 5, then ONE! Oh. My. Goodness. Gracious. Great. Balls. Of. Fire. I. Am. About. To. Be. Responsible. For. A. Little. Boy’s. Life.
Amazing! Exciting! Terrifying! Surreal!
I wonder what kind of child little Levi will be. I wonder what God has given me. Will he be subdued, laid back and sweet like his daddy? Will he be a bundle of screams and laughs, strong willed and ornery like my brother was? I’m anxious to see. I hope he is a good mixture of both. People say strong willed children are difficult (which they are), but it is such a good quality to have. These are the children that are never swayed, they stand firm and are grounded in knowing who they are.

They say (whoever “they” are), that babies will likely act outside the womb as they do inside. For instance, if they move a lot when you’re carrying them they will be very active as babies. If they don’t move a lot, they will likely be very “easy” babies.
Mom says my brother never stopped moving. He was an extremely active baby that never slept.
Mom says I rarely moved. I was the baby who slept through the night at 3 weeks old.

If this is the case, I better get all the sleep that I can right now because my little Levi is a bundle of jitters! He is constantly shifting, changing positions, kicking, rolling, pushing... it’s unreal.
Sunday during Church, I’m pretty sure he severed a rib. That boy is STRONG.
Being pregnant is fantastic. I mean, it really is the most incredible thing I have ever experienced, hands down. But. (There's always a but!) I am reaching the point where I am getting tired. I’ve been tired for almost 7 months straight, my back hurts, I feel like a whale and it is hard to do anything.
Last night, I tried rolling into our already-tall-but-now-even-taller-because-we-got-a-3.5 inch-memory-foam-pad bed, and I screamed in agony. It is so hard to even get into bed these days!! My back felt like someone hit it with a sledgehammer. I also never knew that simply rolling from my right side to left could actually take the breath out of a person. Whew.
Tonight, I think I’ll take a running leap into bed.
I was the one who said “yeah, yeah, yeah” when people talked about their pregnancy ailments, but trust me – now that I’m knee deep in ‘em, I finally understand.
I am doing something very exciting this week! Stay tuned for the big surprise!

Hi, if you want to be excited about having your baby, go to my daughters site and read her post. So sweet. www.smithbliss.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteMy son didn't move much in the womb and is a very laid back child and my daughter was very active and is a very strong willed little girl. I can attest to the fact that the strong willed ones are harder work...but so much fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm 24 weeks pregnant with my third child at the moment and he/she is more active than either of my other babies were, so I'm not expecting to get much sleep with this one! It's all worth it though. My children bring so much joy into my life. Being a mother is the best job in the world.
I love your honesty. I trust God will get you through these last few weeks and you will continue to treasure every minute, despite the discomforts!
ReplyDeleteWhitney, POST SOME PREGNANCY PICS!! I was so excited when your sis-in-law tagged you in some Facebook pics! You looked so cute and then one of the tags was gone--did you remove it?? Seriously girl, post those pictures!! When I hit 35 weeks we stopped taking pics of my growing tummy and now that Caleb's here, I wish we hadn't stopped. I felt so fat and blah but those are days that I will never have back again! I really wish we would have taken one before we left for the hospital, too. Trust me, you won't always feel like a whale, but I understand what it's like to feel huge.
ReplyDeleteOh, and Caleb was super-active in the womb but is pretty mellow (but happy) and is a GREAT sleeper ... so maybe Levi will be the same! You're getting so close!!
Time really is flying past so quickly!!
ReplyDeleteI hope that you cope ok with the backache etc. over the next few weeks. It will be so worth it in the end!

Pregnancy truly sounds wonderful, (except the pains):( What a miracle to carry a child!!! The older I get the more amazing it seems to me. I just told me husband yesterday, wow someday we might be parents to a little one, and yes be responsible for such a tiny little child. Very intimidating. I can start to see why parents worry so much! I'm sure once Levi arrives you will take one day at a time, learn new things everyday, and be a great mommy! When its my turn to be a first time mommy you can fill me in on all the tips!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!!
Ooh, it better be the nursery reveal! I can't wait!
ReplyDeletePS I'm so glad you're back to blogging this week ;-)
I love your honesty! I am taking notes so I know what to expect when I get preggy. Praying for you and your little one as you near your due date, how exciting!!
ReplyDeleteGirlfriend - I feel ya. My husband has been so patient, but he's starting to give me these looks like, "Come on, your back hurts AGAIN???" and that's what i want to kill him. It is just constant pain. Great pain for a sweet little baby - but pain nonetheless!
ReplyDeleteHang in there - we're so close!!!
I am waiting on the suprise! You are dressed too cute in these pictures!
ReplyDeletejust think of all the bonding time you're going to have, the time off work and nursing and just snuggling up to baby lovie levi. that will be worth all the back pain, even tho it feels horrible now!!! i cannot WAIT to see his face. how exciting :)
ReplyDeleteI hope he is an active, onery little boy! They are the cutest! Can't wait to see the surprise! (yes, I know what it is.) SO exciting! And have I told you lately how cute your belly is!?!
ReplyDeleteWhat you said about how they are inside the womb is how they are is very true for me. My 1st son hardly moved, I was always calling the dr it seemed cause I couldn't get him to move and now he is a very mellow kid. He was the best baby! Then my 2nd son moved all the time, no worries about him! He is the very active, strong willed child. Thanks for the positive outlook on strong willed children, I needed that! They are def more work and less sleep than a laid back child...but worth it all!
ReplyDeleteI hope things go well for you without too many aliments!
Only 12 more weeks!!! WOW! I am so excited for your family!
ReplyDeleteOh Whitney ~ you're looking sooooo cute! My little Mark was a real mover inside me...but now he's so laid back...and...yikes...18 years old!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how fast time is flying...only 12 weeks left!!!
Hugz,
Michele
I know what you mean about the back aches!! Sorry you're going through that but believe me it's all worth it!! You are SUPER cute pregnant and the clothes are adorable!! Take care of yourself! :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! You sure make being pregnant look so so adorable! :) Thanks for sharing, and you'll be fine. These last 12 weeks will fly by!
ReplyDeleteCowgirl
You and your belly are so stinkin' cute! And thats a rockin' outfit!
ReplyDelete12 weeks is so close!
I know how you feel. Last night for the first time I thought about how difficult getting into bed was getting. I'm tired all the time, I feel huge, and I literally never want to do anything. But, I'm overjoyed to have this baby inside of me and I can't wait to meet her. I'm getting impatient about meeting her even though I definitely don't want her to come now. Hang in there - we'll both be holding our babies soon!
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable! I always love getting your insight on this whole pregnancy thing!
ReplyDeleteLove the new pics! and wow 12 more weeks....they will get here before you know it. :)

ReplyDeleteJust wanted to know that I am living my 'baby wants' vicariously though you!
ReplyDeleteYou look great and I can't wait to read more!
My 7 month old Ruthie moved a ton and hurt me a lot but she has always slept through the night mostly, but she is crawling around like crazy getting into everything. I'm so excited for you and hubby! Children truly are a blessing from the Lord.
ReplyDeleteyou look so cute! not only is your outfit incredibly awesome, your baby bump is getting bigger! congrats on 28 weeks!
ReplyDeleteYou'll make it!
ReplyDeleteI didn't want to be rude but I was totally going to complain this morning when I read your post and you didn't have any photos - haha :)
ReplyDeleteYou are too cute and, as weird as this sounds, I envy your jawline. I have "fat face syndrome" and I'm not even pregnant! I probably won't show my face at all when that time comes for me :-P And I can't wait for the surprise!
ReplyDeleteLook how big you are!?! And, I mean that as a compliment! Oh man, I can't wait to meet little Levi and tell him what a sweet mommy and daddy he has :)
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing! Seriously...I'm a fellow prego and I know how easy it is to roll your eyes when someone says that to you...but seriously I hope I look as good as you at 28 weeks!!
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing!! Start taking some naps now girly cause looks like Levi won't be giving you a rest! :)
ReplyDeleteyou look GREAT!! these 12 weeks are going to fly by! it got here so fast :) yay!
