The Strangest Thing.

So.

I am a little concerned.

A few months ago, I dreamed that I was babysitting my friends baby, Ruthie Jane. Meet sweet Ruthie:

(How amazingly adorable is that baby love?)

On to the dream:

She was unusually tiny in my dream...the size of a peanut. I decided to make homemade bread (which I never do in real life), and as I was kneading the dough, there was flour everywhere and the dough broke off into a thousand tiny chunks. It was impossible to clump it all together.

And then, the unthinkable happened...

I dropped Ruthie into the dough chunks and it was impossible to find her because she was the SIZE of each flour-covered chunk. It as horrible. I cried as I thought about how I was going to tell her mom. I never found Ruthie.

I woke up disturbed by my dream and Husby laughed at my weird imagination.

Then last night, I had another dream.

About Ruthie. About babysitting. About her being the size of a peanut.

Again.

This time, it was Christmas and we were all gathered around the Christmas tree, and the unthinkable happened yet again. I dropped Ruthie into a candle, and she fell into the hot wax. I struggled to get her out, and when I did, it was too late.

I remember thinking in my dream, "I hope this is a dream, I can NOT handle this", and then I squeezed my eyes shut (in my dream) and tried to wake up. I couldn't.

When I finally did wake, I was screaming and my heart was racing.

I really hope my child, one day, isn't the size of a peanut. I'm not responsible enough for that size of a human being.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!

I'm really starting to get freaked out. Any dream analysts out there?

  2. I'm so sorry to tell you that I'm laughing so hard -- Seriously? A peanut? That is too much -- It's just that on the other hand, I can see why it would seem really strange that you had a similar dream, twice, about a baby who was the size of a peanut! What? LOL!

  3. She is too cute!
Have you been eating a lot of peanuts lately?

  4. OK...I hate doing stuff like this because it feels so new-agey...but sometimes when I have weird dreams I'll look at a dream analysis site. Here's what it says about dreaming about peanuts!

"To see peanuts in your dream, symbolize the need to get to the truth or core of something. You may also need to start pushing yourself and utilizing your full potential. Consider the peanuts in your dream to be a pun for money. It may represent financial difficulties."

It's probably CRAZY, but maybe it will help things make more sense! hahhaa! Please don't think I'm nuts! :)

  5. I can offer nothing in the dream analysis department, but, I am glad it was just a dream!

  6. Hey! I found you through Kate and My Messy Nest and just had to comment.

I too have weird dreams so reading about yours made me feel a little bit better knowing I'm not alone. I thought your line about not being responsible enough for a baby the size of a peanut was so funny!

Oh, and that baby is PRECIOUS!!!!

  7. I love that! So funny and weirdly frightening, all at the same time. You're not pregnant, are you? :D

  8. Okay, I'm the kind of person who thinks dreams really do mean something and I analyze mine constantly but hubby tells me "it's just a dream, a dream is a dream...don't try to read more into it than what it is!" But I've never had any dreams quite a disturbing as yours!! But I do know this - you wouldn't be babysitting for me anytime soon! ha ha - just joking - it's probably just something you ate giving you weird dreams. Hope your day is better than your night!

  9. Some people use 'Peanut' as a term of endearment. Do you, or anyone you know, refer to a baby as 'Peanut'?

  10. I think maybe someone needs to take a pregnancy test... :)

I am laughing really hard by the way!

Maybe it means that you are getting the baby bug!

  11. Hmmm... sounds like someone really wants to have a baby. :)

  12. Yikes, that is weird. I always had awful dreams about my babies when they were newborns. The most common one was that I am in the basement tending the fire with the baby in one hand and a log in the other and, you guessed it, I accidentally throw the baby in the fire instead of the log!
My husband also laughs at me when I tell him these disturbing dreams. Then he jokes about hoping not to find a log in the crib one day...how mean of him!

  13. I totally know what you mean about not wanting the series to end.. but I am such a dork.. that I even went to Stephanie Myers website, okay.. more than once and I am thinking she is going to write another series.. but this time from Edwards perspective.. How fun will that be?

  14. Ok that is just too funny and alittle weird too!

I am not a dream expert so I cannot help you there but you did give me a good laugh this morning.

If it makes you feel any better I have off the wall dreams like that too sometimes! I wake up and think what the world is wrong with me!

  15. Fortunately, when our kiddies truly are the size of a peanut, they're tucked away nice and warm and safe where no one can lose them in clumps of flour or a Christmas candle. :) Could it be baby fever/1st time mommy anxiety?

And that little one is a doll!

  16. So this is what I came up with using the help of freakydreams.com

    Dream Meanings - BABYSITTER
To dream that you are babysitting, suggests that you need to care for the child within yourself.
To see or call for a babysitter in your dream, indicates that you need to acknowledge and work on your inner child.

    Dream Meanings - PEANUTS
To see peanuts in your dream, symbolize the need to get to the truth or core of something. You may also need to start pushing yourself and utilizing your full potential, Consider the peanuts in your dream to be a pun for money and what little you have of it. It may represent your financial difficulties.

  17. First of all, this is hilarious.

Second of all, I think it means you are nervous to become a mom one day. You are excited, but you're nervous.

And, you may be craving protien!

  18. All I know is that a very good friend of mine had four kids. With EVERYONE of them she had crazy dreams about strange little babies BEFORE she even knew she was pregnant. By the third pregnancy the dream was the first indicator that she better take a preggo test. Get to the drug store Whit and I will wait to hear your Mom scream from here. Love you.

  19. Good morning Whitney...OMG, that baby is tooo precious! Hmmm...reading the comment from Rebecca with the dream analysis ~ wonder how much of that stuff is true. I'm glad yours was only a dream.

  20. Oh my! If I was Ruthie's mom I would never let you babysit! :)
She is the CUTEST baby ever! I mean, really the absolute cutest. I want to take her home with me!

  21. Maybe YOU'RE pregnant and your baby is the size of a peanut right now!!! :)

  22. Your dream analysis: You are either pregnant or you have a huge craving for homemade bread and peanut butter.

Or perhaps there is currently something in your life that you feel incapable of of handling. You fear you will ruin something and not be able to fix it.

I had to give it a shot. I am SO not a dream analyst. Dreams are weird! Why do we have them anyway?!

  23. That is crazy-I always dream I can't dial the right number on the phone-AND I do it in life too! A peanut baby? Maybe you'll be having a teeny, tiny baby...

    ReplyDelete
  24. OMG I thought my was crazy...were you eating cookie dough, peanuts or something along those lines before bed? did you see a commericial?

I got nuttin girl...but trust you will have a beautiful baby when the time comes :)

  25. It means you are currently pregnant and the baby is the size of a peanut which would be a normal sized fetus at this point!

    ReplyDelete
  26. is it bad if i think that's funny??? pooor thing..sorry for your dream trauma.

i think it just means this: stay away from peanuts :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. I say you're just having a craving for a good ole PayDay candy bar AND a baby.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Could you be preggers????
(Please forgive me for asking - I hate when people ask me that. Just cause I'm young and married doesn't mean the ONLY thing we do is...you know...)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Oh. My. What in the world does that mean?! I'm sorry I can't help you.

    ReplyDelete
  30. You ought to try dream guides online.

    I found this:
Dreaming of an extremely small baby, symbolizes your helplessness and your fears of letting others become aware of your vulnerabilities and incompetence. You may be afraid to ask for help and as a result tend to take matters into your own hands.

  31. I ran into them in W.M. the other day. She has grown since that pic huh? She is a cutie pie! What did A say about the dreams?

    ReplyDelete
  32. That might be the most hilarious thing I've read in a while!!!

So sorry that my laughter had to come at the expense of your racing heart and fearful dreams, but thanks so much for sharing!

Perhaps you should put a bit of distance between yourself and tiny items for a little while ;)
