Whirlwind Weekend & Birthday Bashes

Good Monday Morning lovelies! I hope everyone is having a glorious start to their week and you're eyes aren't TOO puffy from waking up to yet another manic Monday.

I, for one, am exhausted and my eyes are puffier than a sopapilla. My weekend was a whirlwind. A good whirlwind, mind you. My family celebrated two birthdays - one Friday night for my sista-in-law (not the preggo one...my bro's wifey), and one all day Saturday for my beautiful Mommacita.

Mom had me pick up a cake that she ordered for sista-in-law, since we were celebrating at my house, and when I saw it, I crumbled. Is this not THE cutest cake your sparkly little eyes have ever seen?

Um...I realize it looks like the top is about to topple over at any given second, but for some peculiar reason, it did not look like that in real life. Well...maybe it did and I was just not paying attention. As the hostess of the par-tay, I was running around pouring tea and preparing for the cutting of the cake. And snapping pictures. But seriously, is that not CA-YUTE?!

It kind of looks like an Alice in Wonderland topple-y take. Ya know, like it is supposed to look like that.

Check out that BOW! Oh, I could die. So feminie. So precious.

It doesn't look quite so lean-acious here. And look! You get a sneaky peak into my kitchen. :)

And there is the old woman - the Birthday Girl. She is 28. She is ancient. Tee Hee.

Saturday came and husby rushed to the cake place to pick up the cake that I ordered for Momsy. Dad paid for the cake, so he wanted it to say, "Happy Birthday Terry". I designed the cake though and I love how it turned out. But guess what? Momsy and I used the exact same colors when picking out cakes - black and hot pink.

So funny, so funny.

Presenting - mom's cake! I wanted to do a big fancy 2 tiered one, but...I thought dad would appreciate it if I kept it within a reasonable budget. And an extra $30 for a tier the size of a cupcake, is not too reasonable in my little noggin.

I love the swirls. Swirls are fantastic.

The cake was red velvet with cream cheese icing. I died.

And went to Heaven.

Then the good Lord told me it wasn't time yet, so He sent me back to earth. And here I am.

Not really. If I was in the presence of my Lord, trust me, there is no way on earth you could blow me back to earth. No way, no how. So there.

And here is the beautiful Birthday Momsy!

Isn't it funny how the two birthday girls stood in the exact same place for their picture - a day apart from each other? Maybe it's because I displayed the cake in the same place both days - so it would be the fist thing they saw when they walked in.

Oh, Birthdays are fabulous. Mine is next month. I will be.... *gasp* a quarter of a century old.

  1. Beautiful cakes!! I love them both but am entranced by the swirls on your mom's cake. Both are almost too pretty to eat. BTW your home looks gorgeous from the bits and pieces I've seen on your blog. As we speak, I'm procrastinating on a painting project - maybe I'd better get with it so I can do some of my own decorating. Looks like you had a great weekend with family!
