Thanksgiving: Take One!

Well, folks. I did it. I hosted my very first Thanksgiving and I am happy to say, it was a great success!! I got a little carried away and doubled every recipe, so we were certainly not lacking in the food department. (I inherited my Mom's paranoia of running out of food.) Everyone got to take home plenty of leftovers and left with very full bellies. The true mark of a good Thanksgiving! It was great!

I was so excited to use some of my pretty fall plates!

I set the table fairly simple, to make room for all the food! :)

Speaking of food ... check it out!!!

We started with a cheeseball. It's not a holiday in my family without a cheesball.

We had ham, dressing, creamed corn, broccoli casserole, sweet potato casserole, crunch salad, deviled eggs, mashed potatoes & gravy and hot rolls. Yummers. My mother-in-law said she didn't know what to eat first!

Everyone had a great time, and as we were eating my father-in-law told me that it was safe to say that I had hit a home run!! As I beamed with pride, my grandfather-in-law chimed in, "I'd say it was a grand slam!"

SUCCESS! :)

After dinner we visited for a little bit and Levi even shared with them his baby brother's name!! So exciting!

And there was pie that Husby's grandma brought but we were all too full for a bite, so we cut some to eat later.

I'm happy to say it was a great evening and thank you all for your encouragement. With y'all on my side I feel like I can do anything!

  2. It all looks lovely. I love your table cloth! Well done for pulling it off, especially whilst pregnant with a toddler to 'help'.

I am hosting Christmas for the first time this year and I am both excited about having it in my own home and rather daunted at the thought of getting Christmas dinner on the table and getting the house ready with three children to 'help'!

  9. Umm YES to the cheeseball. I have to hold back every time and not fill up on one of those so I have room for the real food :)
