A Divine Appointment.

We were coming home from our fun nature day Saturday when we turned off onto the obscure road that leads to our house from the main highway. There’s a creek that runs through so there are usually cars pulled off the side of the road as people are fishing or just exploring the area. When we came upon these two cars off the road, for whatever reason, we all turned our heads to look and saw a man laying on the ground - clearly in pain. There was as a group of men surrounding him as the guy writhed around. I gasped and screamed “he’s hurt!” and Darin immediately pulled over (honoring that Physician’s Oath he took years ago). He jumped out of the car as I fixed my rear view mirror to get a better view at what was going on.

When Darin came upon the men, they were circled around the injured one, praying. The guy had a major foot injury after falling off of his moving Jeep. They were all on the other side of the truck, but I can only imagine the look on their faces as they stood together in prayer for this young man and out of nowhere a sports medicine doctor (i.e. specializes in injuries) rolls onto the scene!

I don’t know if this entire group of men were believers, but I know the one praying was. And after seeing God’s CLEAR Providence in this unique situation, I wonder how it may have transformed the faith of someone else in that group.

You just never know.

It absolutely blows my mind how the Lord goes before our daily lives, orchestrating every detail of our day to work together - placing us exactly where He wants us. Every stop, delay, and detoured traffic route of our day was to place us right there, on that old country Oklahoma road, exactly when we were. And possibly for an even greater reason than helping with the injury.

The men were faithful to stop and ask God for help, and the Lord was able to use Darin. I left the scene in complete awe of the divine appointment. Isn’t there so much peace in knowing His hand is guiding our every step? This day was such a precious reminder of that.

It also makes me wonder, how can He use me every time I walk out my door? It doesn’t have to be a grandiose act or attention-drawing display. But maybe just a word of encouragement or a simple act of service to someone. Nothing is by chance, and the Lord has you exactly where He wants you at all times. Someone today may have just prayed for whatever the Lord has orchestrated YOU to be or do for them. And that just may transform their life and faith entirely, as they see what God provided for them through you.

God uses ordinary people to carry out His extraordinary plan. Let Him use you and He will!

I am a modern day homemaker with a passion for family, cooking, celebrating, decorating, travel, and memory making! The Lord has blessed me with the desires of my heart in my husband and our two sons. We recently built our dream home and cultivating a loving and happy haven for my family is where I find so much joy.

  2. When the boys were little we were leaving a birthday party in Tulsa and stopped to get gas. After we filled up we couldn’t get our car to start and it was late. Jeffery was getting nervous, plus he was wore out, so a little extra emotional. I told him we should pray about it to help calm his nerves. Not even a few minutes later, a taxi driver getting gas came over to Levi and told him he probably just needed a jump. He jumped us and we were on our way to the nearest place that was open to buy a new battery :) Jeffery was so amazed at that fast answered prayer and it helped to solidify his faith. To this day he still talks about that experience. How neat to see it all work! And how amazing that you guys were the answer to a prayer!
