TSF 2013

I've been going to the Tulsa State Fair since I was a wee little girl.  The one and only time I've ever seen my mom lose her temper and confront someone was at the fair when I was around 5.  I remember it vividly.  I was walking along minding my own business and a lady behind me said, "move out of the way, you little brat!"  Next thing I knew, my mom was on the verge of yelling at the lady and I had no idea what had happened.  Ha!  Now that I'm a Momma Bear myself, that story has more significance to me than it did before. :)

(Trying to fit us all in this picture was a hilarious challenge.  This picture makes me laugh so much!)

This year marks the 10th year of fair going with my trusty Husby!  We went together when we dated and every year of marriage since.  We are avid fair lovers, my family and me, and we are training up our boys to love it, too!  Which isn't hard to convince little boys! :)

Ezra was only five months old last year and we didn't want to bring him out in the cold, so my parents babysat as we went.  So, this year was his first year.  He absolutely LOVED it!  Like his mommy and daddy, our little Ezra quite enjoyed himself as he ate his way through the fair.  He preferred the food over anything else.  Now, Levi ... he loves the games and the rides and the exhibits.  And, of course, cotton candy and build your own slushies!

As we were outside playing games and winning oversized hard-as-a-rock useless stuffed creatures, they were filming a commercial!  I hope my babies ended up in it! :)

photo-11

The boys had the time of their lives riding on the ponies.  Levi has done it several times before, but it was Ezra's first time.  He hates carousels, so I envisioned him kicking and screaming in fear and hatred, but the baby absolutely LOVED that pony!

Ezra kept yelling, "YEEHAW" the entire time.  So funny!

They also rode these really cool toys.  You pump your legs and the pony walks!  It's really too much fun.  I thought Santa could bring one for Ezra ... until the guy told me they are $275.  WHAT?!

Santa needs to lower his prices!

Anyway, it was adorable.

We had such a wonderful family fun day.  There is absolutely nothing like spending sweet times with my favorite boys in the land.

The butterflies stuck to Levi like honey!

photo-17

Well, maybe not honey.  Do butterflies like honey?  I know they like bananas and gatorade mixed together because that's what they gave the boys to feed them.  On a Qtip.  Isn't that weird?

They flocked to Levi like bananas and gatorade!

photo-14

They didn't exactly flock to Ezzers.  He thought it was a game of catch the butterfly. :)

Sweet beebs.

And, of course, we stuffed ourselves silly with all things battered, fried, and on a stick.  Husby and I have a system down when it comes to fair food.  We share everything so we can eat as much as possible, and we take the same food route each year.  We have our faves and simply can't stray from them.  We did try a few things this year we have never had, and both opted to never get those things again (the pretzel and chicken on a stick).  Ha!

Food recap!

We start off with a foot long corn dog.  Then off to the polish sausage stand. And then to cheese on a stick.  After our fill of wienies and batter, we have mucho nachos (the best in the WORLD), and mini sugar donuts (so hot I had to throw it after the pic! It burnt my fingers!). We typically have our roasted corn before the nachos, but the line was so long we got it later in the evening.  And then off to pineapple whip.  On the way out this year we snagged a pretzel with cheese, and a grilled chicken on a stick.  We were super sick after eating all of this junk.  But oh, it was so delicious.

Levi had all things sugary.  Cotton candy, slushies, ice cream, and suckers. Ha!  Ezra ate everything with us and Husby and I literally got like 2 bites of the corn.

Think this face looks sweet and innocent?

photo-16

Try taking the corn away from him!

"Think again, suckas!!!"

photo-13

It's safe to say that Ezzers loved his first fair.

And my Weebie boy had the best time.  As we were walking to our car at around 10pm, we had been there for 5 hours.  Levi grabbed my hand and said, "I am all festival-ed out, Mommy ... are you?"

:)

Another great fair in the books, y'all!

I am a modern day homemaker with a passion for family, cooking, celebrating, decorating, travel, and memory making! The Lord has blessed me with the desires of my heart in my husband and our two sons. We recently built our dream home and cultivating a loving and happy haven for my family is where I find so much joy.

  1. It sounds like you had a great time! I went to the TSF for the first time this year and had a blast! The only stinky thing was that we sat in traffic to park for an HOUR AND A HALF!!! The pineapple whip is so delicious, and so are the turkey legs! We also tried fried alligator (my Louisiana friends said that theirs is so much better ;-) ) and fried shark, and a fried snickers. I admit, I kept an eye out, hoping to see you lol! - Teresa

  2. We moved to the DFW area over two years ago and have yet to go to the Texas State Fair...you're making me think we need to fit in a visit there at some point.

  3. Cracker Barrel has those ponies, too! Check there and see if there cheaper!

  4. Really glad that you all had a good time, and I'm sure your children eat healthily normally, but I personally wouldn't give my children such large amounts of sugar- that slushie was as big as Ezra's head!

I know that isn't your fault and portion sizes aren't under your control, that's just my opinion.

  7. The photos and post seems that you have enjoyed with kids a lot. You had a great time with your kids. The outing is necessary for the them. They will refresh and fell the world. They come to know about the new things. For kids health related information you can find on wellnessshot. The photos you shared is also nice. The bonding of the family become strong from the outing.
