You Know You're A Boy Mom When...

Husby bought me this little t-shirt on Mother's Day and I absolutely love it.

When I stumbled upon an action figure arm next to the hand soap in the boy's bathroom, I was inspired to show you a few photos around here that prove that I live up to my title - BoyMom.

Check it out.

You know you're a boy mom when ...

photo-7

You find action figure limbs in various places around the house.

photo-5

You find randomly abandoned tape measures still in their dutiful positions.

photo-2

You pull back the sheets to lifelessly fall into bed at the end of the day, and your head violently meets a superhero.  Though you're suffering from intense pain and slight delirium, you smile at the thought of your little one leaving it there for you as a surprise.

photo-4

And earlier in the evening when you pulled back your son's sheets to tuck him in, you find a robot and a Star Wars laser gun.  Obviously.

photo-11

Strings of caps from the cap gun can be found at any given corner at any given time.

Forts.  Forever there are forts.  And anything can become a fort.  They become quite inventive in the architecture along the way, but if ever you see a blanket strung over something, you know better than to ask why it's there.  Because it's a fort.  Always and eternally, a fort.

Bathroom cabinetry doubles as a chalkboard.

photo-8

Along with forts ... boxes.  Give 'em a box and the rest of their day, no ... week is made.  This particular box was once a rocket ship, then a rocket outer space boat, and finally a giant coloring pad.

photo-9

You find this particular contraption, ask what it is, and quickly recognize your lack of imagination when you find out it is, indeed, a "pulley mixed into a homemade bell mixed into a trap for the burglars".  How he knows about pulley's is beyond me, because I barely know what one is.

photo-10

My charming little pitcher housing my wooden spoons and cute serving utensils also houses a giant lollipop.

And last, but certainly not least ....

photo

When you go into the restroom and shut the door.

Every. Single. Time.

These boys keep me laughing, keep my heart tender, and my days an absolute joy.

Stay tuned for an inevitable continuation of this post! :)

  1. I have one boy...he generally doesn't do any of those at least now and well I forget the earlier years. But oh my word, you made me laugh because my girls do stuff like that. The toes under the bathroom door for sure. I'm not sure I ever get to use the bathroom in private without locking a door. But I wanna know where you got the cap gun? I loved those as a kid and I know mine would too. And on a last note, last week I was at Starbucks at the grocery store and caught two guys take one banana each off of different bunches. I totally thought of you. Thanks for making me smile. I hope you had a great day.

  2. So true. The other day my son came in the kitchen and said "I need a box". When I asked him why he looked at me like I was nuts and said, "for stuff". I promised him that the next big box was his.
