Husby has been working so hard lately. His last year (YAY) of residency started July 1 and with it came a load of responsibility as he was elected Chief Resident. He has been working loooong hard days, with very few days off. He had a weekend off a few weeks ago and we declared Saturday a Family Fun Day! It was so refreshing ... for us all!
We drove about an hour away to Woolaroc, a museum and wild life preserve, and we just had the best day. Kids Fest was happening there and so there were lots of fun games, bounce houses, craft tables, fair food, etc. The kids had a blast!

This is located smack dab in the middle of nowhere and it is absolutely beautiful out there. Gorgeous!

Nothing beats an ice cold snow cone on a hot summers day!

(Check out the sweet necklace he made at a craft table. :)

The boys had a blast checking out the museum. The only thing I remembered from the museum from going when I was a little girl, were the shrunken heads. Gag! They're so weird! Obviously, I didn't take a picture. Too creepy.

The boys LOVED the gun collection.

Guuuns....

GUUUUUNNNNNS!
:)

Such fun!!
We ended the evening at a little eatery straight from the 1940's. Their catch phrase is "gravy over all".

I ordered a burger with fries - gravy over all. Check it out!

Yes! There is a burger under there somewhere! :)
My favorite were these little baskets full of crackers and bread at every table. White bread to sop up all that delicious gravy!

Yum. Yum. Yum!
The entire day felt as if were transported back in time. Absolutely perfect ... and with my favorite boys in the entire world. :)
I wish every weekend could be like this one, but since they are few and far between, I think it makes me appreciate them even more. I find myself soaking up the moments...savoring each memory. And looking forward to the day when Husby will have every weekend off for the rest of his life. One day, people. ONE. DAY.

My loves. My beautiful, precious loves.

They make my life perfect.

Ezra's face smashed up against the glass is hysterical!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a lovely time, I hated it when my other half had to work weekends as you never get a break. Looks like your coping well though :) x
ReplyDeleteOne day. Until then congrats to his Chief residency & you keeping the boat afloat at home. Your day looked so fun, but those fries made me feel unwell.
ReplyDeleteNo pictures of the shrunken heads? Is the buffalo that "eats" trash still there? Also, yum on Murphy's! I grew up near Bartlesville and haven't been there in such a long time!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't seen these pics, and they are GREAT. Looks like a fun day!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of dr is he going to be? Just curious since you mentioned him having weekends off haha!
