On our anniversary, Husby surprised me with a weekend away to see some of my favorites in concert. It was so nice to sneak away for a couple days - staying out late, eating quiet meals, and just enjoying one another. So refreshing!
Warning! If you don't like seeing our faces or seeing concert pix, just move right along to another blog. Because this post is full of FACE! That's what happens when you're the only two on the trip! ;)

We left as soon as he got off work on Friday and headed to Dallas, Tx! We love Dallas - good food, great shopping, nice people. Love it!
When we woke up Saturday morning, we got ready and headed to the Dallas Arboretum. Our original plan was to have "tea", but messed around and never booked it early enough. So, we ate lunch at the place we intended to have our tea and it was DELIGHTUL! Seriously, so good. I love tea rooms.
I wore the most floral thing I could find. ;)

At lunch.

We walked around the arboretum (I still can't say that word right, Husby), and then decided we were too hot and so we booked it to Northpark Mall as fast as we could.

I was talking and it looks like I have an underbite, hahaha! This was the prettiest little tunnel of trees. We should have had someone take a pic of us in it, but we opted for the head shots. Bad idea. ;)

At the mall, Husby bought me an early birthday gift for me to go ahead and enjoy while on the trip! I thought the storage bag for my handbag was just the cutest thing ever. See?

We had a lovely dinner before the concert at Buca Di Beppo and it was delicious! I have all our food photos uploaded, and I'm sure it would be a nice break from OUR FACES, but I am seriously so full from a brownie fudge sundae I just ate that the thought of food (seeing it - describing it) makes me want to spew ... so maybe I'll blog that another time. I know a select few of you love my vacation food pics! :)
We arrived to the concert early to make sure we didn't miss PHILLIP PHILLIPS!!! He was the opener to John Mayer, and he is one of my favorites, so this concert was just amazing!
Oh, look! Our faces again!

The venue was outdoors and as the sun was going down it was beating right on our backs. It got hot FAST! But once the sun went down it was just fine. Oh, and here's a fun fact - this venue was the place where I saw my very first concert - Steely Dan when I was about 8 years old. :)
Phillip. Was. Awesome.

Love him so much!

I knew he would be good live, because duh - he was live on American Idol every week.
Haha!
(He had to ask for someone's sunglasses to wear because the sun was blinding him. And the sunglasses kept falling off. Too funny.)

But he surpassed my expectations. So good!

I took a billion photos, obviously, but I just love him!
This was our second time seeing John Mayer, and he was amazing as usual. His music is some of my very favorite EVER. And, he seemed different this time. More genuine or something. I can't really explain it. But I liked it.

Pictures of John were harder to get because of all the crazy lights flashing everywhere. Plus it was dark when he came out.
SUCH A GREAT CONCERT! We had a blast!!!
We spent Sunday sleeping in, eating at Grand Luxe, and shopping the outlets before heading home to our boys.
It was a perfect weekend, with my favorite guy in the world.

ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! Looks like you guys had a great time! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your vacation posts - including the food! Oh, and I'm going to need to see a picture of the early birthday present! :-)
ReplyDeleteI saw Phillip and John in St. Louis earlier this month.. They were SO good!! One of the best concerts I've been to recently. And I agree with you about John Mayer seeming more genuine--he definitely did.
