San Diego: The Fun.

Husby had a Sports Medicine conference down in San Diego last week, so I tagged along for a little get away together.  The babies went to the grandparents house and had the time of their lives, and Mommy and Daddy got a little R&R ... together.  It was absolutely amazing.

While we didn't get to spend all day every day together like I wished we could've, we did get to spend a good chunk of time exploring the city together!  Husby had the majority of his meetings in the mornings, we would meet back together for lunch and then he was out by 4 or 5.  The last day he took off at noon, so we had virtually an entire day!  While he did his conference, I explored, shopped, spa'd, and got pretty good at navigating my way through the city.

Such a beautiful city!

The first day his meetings didn't start until the afternoon so we spent the morning at the beach and ended up renting bikes and riding from Mission Beach to Pacific Beach.  Oh, it was absolutely GLORIOUS!  So gorgeous.  So perfect.  I can't get over how absolute perfection the weather is down there.  Never hot, never cold.  Perfect for whatever you want to do!

The water on the other hand, wowza - brrrr! :)

That morning was a perfect morning.  In every sense of the word!  I wanted him to blow off his meeting and spend the rest of the day on the beach with me! :)

We spent the first evening over on Coronado Island and I fell in love with it.  Gorgeous!  And, we ate at a quaint little Italian restaurant that we both agree was our best meal of the trip.  Pasta made on site and absolutely delicious.  Yum.  That was such a great day.

With the love of my life.

We laughed SO hard on this trip.  When you don't have anyone but yourselves to worry about and take care of, everything is hilarious, apparently.  That, and having a super funny husband.  That helps, too.  :)

Seriously.  One night we both got so tickled at dinner that everyone was staring at us.  Husby was crying he was laughing so hard, which made me LOSE it.  Oh, it was ridiculous, but it was one of those times that no matter how hard you try, you simply CAN NOT STOP LAUGHING.  And both of us had it!  Hi-larious.

And if I told you what was so funny, I guarantee you wouldn't even crack a smile.  But good grief, it was hysterical to us.  I love those kinds of laughs.  They just feel good.

Everywhere I turned I saw mommy's with little boys and baby boys, it seemed.  It really tugged at my heartstrings, but when I stopped and realized that times like these are necessary for refreshment and even marriage enhancement, I felt better.  I knew those boys were having an absolute blast, so that helped, too.  But oh how I  missed my babies!

But oh how I enjoyed my husband!

Something about vacationing alone is that you end up with a LOT of head shots.  Haha!!  So be forewarned.  When we found a passerby who was willing to snap a photo, we took them up on it, but we sure have a lot of head shots from this vacay.  Makes me laugh.

Husby arranged a spa morning for me one day, so I didn't even have to leave the hotel until I met back up with him for lunch.  It was BLISS!  I had an hour massage, access to all kinds of special spa rooms and private pool, and was doted on all morning.  HEAVEN.

When I met back up with Husby for lunch, I literally looked like I had been hit by a truck.  That massage was serious!  And amazing.  I felt so relaxed I could have snoozed the day away.  Ahhhhh....

We went to several different beaches ... Mission, Pacific, Coronado, La Jolla, and some other one that we stumbled on and I can't even remember the name of it.  It was very secluded and so we were able to snatch up lots of fun seashells to bring back to the boys.  Levi LOVED them.

There were so many things that reminded us of our boys that we definitely want to take them back for.  The little amusement park on Mission Beach, Sea World, the Zoo, kite flying in Sea Port Village.  I'd love to take them there one day.

The last day, when we knew Husby would have most of the day off, we headed over to La Jolla for the day.  WOW.  Gorgeous.  That was my favorite part of the trip, definitely.  It was picturesque.  We strolled the beach, watched the seals, laid around in the park, shopped a bit, and basically just soaked in the beauty ... and the togetherness.  So. Much. Fun.

It was tough leaving the beauty of our trip together, but we both agreed we couldn't wait to get our hands on those babies of ours!  I told Husby that the first couple of days I just wandered the city without purpose ... no one to take care of, nothing or no one requiring ME.  It was a weird feeling, and I didn't know what to do!  I mean, I shopped, but you know what I mean .... ;)

When we got back to reality this week, Husby and I sent text messages back and forth saying how much we missed each other.  Of course we see one another every day, but being on this trip last week, spending lots of uninterrupted time together just makes us both cherish our love and realize how much we truly enjoy being in each other's presence.  And how much we LOVE the life and family that we have created ... together.

When you marry your best friend, life is just FUN.

I'm so very thankful for this guy, and I would rather be with him than anyone.  He's my heart.  He's my love.
