Cheat - N - Eat

I've been on a diet for 5 weeks.  I have seen great results so far concerning pounds and inches lost, but best of all, I feel better than I have in a long time.  I don't want to bore you with the details of my daily regimen, but something I do want to talk about is the most amazing part of this diet ... Cheat Day!

Once a week you are allowed to go hog wild and eat anything (and everything) that you want.  This actually aids in the weight loss!  A-mazing.  Now, don't get me wrong, for six days solid you have to be really strict and abide by the rules.  But in the back of your mind, you always know cheat day is around the corner!  It's a beautiful thing.  It's seriously like a holiday.  The best!

When I find myself craving something during the week, I'll write it down and make sure to eat it on cheat day.  I scour the web (usually Pinterest), pinning sweet treats that I want to make.  It's so funny because when cheat day comes, a lot of the time, I don't even want the things that I wanted days earlier.  Or, I'll eat it and think, "eh, that wasn't all it's cracked up to be."  Oh, and pre-made desserts such as boxed cookies or candy bars do not taste good at ALL to me anymore.  All of my cheat day sweets are always homemade.

Okay, I could go on and on about this diet and cheat day and the in's and out's of it all, but that's not what this post is about.  This post is about yummy, delicious, good old fashioned junk food.

Things that I find myself ALWAYS wanting on cheat days are things like this:

*Chocolate chip cookies
*Brownies (I ate half a pan on one cheat day. True story.)
*No bake cookies
*Cupcakes (specifically coconut or birthday cake)

Every single cheat day, without fail, I have to have one of those things above!  Sometimes, a couple items off the list if I can get my hands on them! :)

My brother made me a homemade sourdough boule a few weeks ago, and I handled that thing like a champ.  With lots and lots of butter.  It was pure manna from the heavens.

Look how beautiful!

"Real" food isn't something I care too much about on cheat day ... but I always make sure it's something I can't have through the week.  Typically pasta.  Oh, and that day I had some cheese fries was a pretty great day.  Mmm, and the homemade fried chicken dinner I made last weekend.  Okay, maybe I do care about the real food.  Just not as much as the sweet treats.

So - all this to ask...

If you were given ONE cheat day to go completely CRAZY eating anything and everything you want - no restrictions and pounds still lost ... what all would you eat?

Who knows, you may give me some good ideas for this weekend! :)

    1. Fried Dill Pickles and Ranch Dip
    2. Donuts. Be they powdered, chocolate covered or coconut crumb. With full fat root beer. Sonic ice required.
3.Chicago style deep dish pizza pie. pepperoni, veggie, or beef and onion.
    4. Spinach artichoke dip from Olive Garden.
    5. Really good Mexican. They haven't got a clue here.

    Love your blog! :)

  4. First off I love your blog, I don't think I have commented before, but obviously food brings me out of hiding haha!

Oh my gosh...lets see we are stationed in Japan so a lot of these I don't even get anyways except when I get back to the States to visit family...so here is my list!!
Mexican...and I am not talking Taco Bell!
I also say Fried Pickles as mentioned above...yummy we had a home town restaurant that made these the best!!!
A real Steak house dinner, steak, potato, roll, and dessert!
    Chili's Chocolate Molten Cake!!
Real Icecream! This Japanese stuff is killing me!!
Cheesecake! homemade of course and oreo or turtle is my favorite!!

Also I am dying to know what diet you are doing! I just had a baby (my first!) almost 7 weeks ago and I am trying to find something that will help me get in shape and get healthy (because I was so not healthy before!).

  5. I'm an endurance runner so every day is cheat day! Well, not really, I do eat healthy during the day but in the evenings I always have some sort of not so healthy snacks--current faves are jalapeno cheetos and wavy lays (I'm a salty snack girl) and for sweets there's my standby PB M&M's--though they brought the white chocolate M&M's back in the fall seasonal ones...they call them "candy corn M&M's" but they're white chocolate. YUM!

Oh, and when I'm training for something and putting in longer runs (anything over 12-13 miles) my metabolism goes completely haywire and I have to start eating anything that isn't nailed down to keep from losing weight. Good times!

  6. Between pregnancy and BF I got to cheat for WAY too long. So, I need to get back to watching. But, anyway, my cheats would center around carbs and cheese. Mac n Cheese, Pizza, that homemade bread looks AMAZING, bagels... mmm...

  7. Are you by chance doing Body for Believers? The guys who started this diet are from the area where I live. My husband and I are about to start it and it allows one cheat day a week after the first two weeks. I LOVE french fries with homemade ranch and homemade chocolate chip cookies so those will probably be top of the list on my cheat days.

  8. My husband did that diet, or a similar one (4 hour body) and lost 55 pounds! Keep up the good work :)

  9. I want to hear about the diet part too!! But to answer your question I think my "cheat" would be cocktails, if I wasn't allowed to have them, that and Thai food!!

  10. Chocolate . . .
Pasta, but I run a lot so I eat that all the time. But to eat massive amounts . . .
    Homemade bread of any kind.
    Homemade cookies.
    Paula Deen lemon bars.
    Cheesecake.
    Cheetos.
Pretty much what I want when I want it.

  11. yay! it's j.d. and my first cheat day eve!! we've already seen results with this diet in less than a week! i'm so glad you told me about it.

i'm opposite of you, all i can think about on cheat day is the "real" food. i love chocolate everyone once in a while, but i've always been fine without sweets. i want cheese fries, fried chicken, bread, pasta and cheese. j.d. and i keep talking about what we want to eat tomorrow and we don't have enough time in the day for it all! haha.

    hooray for cheat day!

  13. Let's be honest...I cheat everday. My weaknesses are sweets and Mexican food. I could, and sometimes do, eat them daily. :/

Tell me more about this diet you are on!! I have had a major lack of motivation lately, so I've got to get it in gear soon! I'm going to attempt keeping a food diary and limiting myself to one cheat meal a week...starting Monday, of course. Ha! Hopefully I will be as successful as you have been.

  15. I'd sit on the couch with an entire gallon of Blue Bell Pecan Pralines & Cream sitting in my lap. I'd eat the entire thing.

I'd love it if you did a post with all the details of your diet!

  16. I'd cheat with Oreos & Milk, No Bake Cookies, Iced White Chocolate Mocha & Pesto Pasta.
