Dazed and Confused.

It's amazing how fast you forget things. It was only two and a half short years ago that Weebie was a baby, and there are already so many things I can't remember! I am crossing my fingers that it all comes flooding back to me after Ezra arrives, but there is no guarantee. One of my good friends had a new baby a few months ago and has a son Levi's age, so I pick her brain often. I'm so happy that others have gone before me.

I know they sleep a lot.

I know they eat a lot.

I know they cry.

I know they tee-tee and poo-poo.

And I know they are cuddly, cooing, precious smelling little angel cakes.

But other than that, I can't really remember.

I am so immersed in Toddlerhood that Babydom seems like lightyears away!

It's time to learn to balance the best of both worlds:

Bottles and Sippy Cups.
Baby Einstein and Super Why.
Rattles and Leap Pads.
Swaddle Blankets and Ernie.
Activity Mats and Craft Time.
Teething Rings and Light Sabers.
Diapers and Big Boy Undies.
Exersaucers and Trampolines.
Formula and Fruit Snacks.
Peek-a-Boo and Teaching Time.
Onesies and Polos.
Praise Baby and Bible Verses.
Tummy Time and Coloring Books.
Bald Heads and Haircuts.

A baby and a little boy.

I'm likely to get confused and swaddle my almost three year old and put underwear on my baby. I may even give Levi a bottle and Ezra a bag of Cheetos. New Mommy Brain can not be trusted. It's a serious ailment, guys. Cross your fingers with me and hope for the best!

I just hope Weebie doesn't end up in the crib and Ezra in the big boy bed. Something so silly is bound to happen. Luckily, Levi knows what's going on and will be there to help (and correct) me along the way when I get delirious. But trust me, the mix ups will be bountiful and y'all are more than welcome to laugh at me along the way. As long as you remind me that I'm not the only one. ;)

What kinds of things did you forget from one baby to the next?

  1. It'll all come back to you, and you'll be amazing, as always. For the things that you REALLY can't remember...it's amazing what our husbands can! They're not going though nearly as much as we are physically...giving birth, hormones, breast feeding...sleep deprivation... Just relax and savor EVERY moment. Nothing is more important than our babes at this stage of life.

  2. Ahh, you are making me nervous. My daughter just turned three and I'm having a baby boy is three weeks. I'm sure I'll be making all the same mistakes and I'll be reading your blog to commiserate.

  3. I was the same way, but as soon as you meet Ezra God reminds you of things you've forgotten. Of course, sometimes as they got older I would say one name and mean another....but my heart knew what I meant.
Words can't describe whatnyou are going tonbe experiencing in the next 6 weeks. Your heart is going to explode with how much love it will experience!
Just tale care of yourself and rest when you cam since a well feeling momma can remind more than an exhausted one.

  5. I almost died with the underwear on Ezra.. too cute. You won't. You will be fine. My oldest is 11 and my boys are 8 (twins).. and I just had one 2 months ago yesterday. I definitely felt as if I started all over and have the new mommy brain, but it's okay.. we are allowed to do that. You are wonderful and will do great.

  6. I assure you it will all come back to you. I cannot guarantee you will not have some moments where you will almost mix things up only to catch yourself at the last minute. I promise you are not alone...mommy brain gets us all. My youngest turned 1 this past Friday. My kids are 2 years and 7 months apart. Those first few weeks were incredibly special.

  7. Gosh darn it Whitney! I see posts like this and expect to hear the happy news of Ezra joining us. Also, if you do something silly like try to Levi in the baby swing, take a photo please. :-D

  8. I have an 18 month old and a 7 week old. A few weeks before my 7 week arrived I was freaking out like you are...I couldn't remember how to put a baby on a schedule or when to feed her! Believe me, it ALL comes back quickly :) I decided if I made it through with my first one, I could definitely do it again!

I will say, I have gotten confused with folding their laundry. Having two girls and lots of pink, I've caught myself putting clothes away in the wrong room...if that's all I do to mix things up right now I guess I'm doing good! :)

  9. Haha...picturing those mix-ups made me lol. And I know Levi will be such a blessing to you. When I saw my 2 yr old for the first time after giving birth to my second he magically transformed to such a big boy!
I had forgotten wonderful sweet things like the smallness of a newborn, the smell, the helplessness.
    Excited for you!

  10. Aww, you'll be fabulous! And even if you do do something odd, it's okay! It'll just be such a sweet memory later on in life.

I'll pray for lots of sleep for you so you don't have Mommy Brain!

  11. I find that I forget when they are supposed to reach certain milestones! I was so focused on EVERYTHING with Caleb, but with each subsequent child, I've chilled out a little. :) At Lydia's two-month check-up, the pediatrician asked if I had any questions and I stared at him blankly. I had nothing to ask! We both had a good laugh, because I used to actually bring lists of questions with Caleb and even a little with Naomi. This time around, it's easier...most likely because I'M easier! :) You'll ease right back into it and it will fly by!

  12. The thought of your putting "big boy undies" on baby Ezra made me LOL! :)
