Babymoon!

First, let me explain where I've been lately. Husby took a vacation time last week (AMAZING and so desperately needed!), so we had lots of things planned and such special days spent together as a family. When these rare times come for us, I like to "unplug" and soak up every moment without distraction. It is so unbelievably refreshing for me and such a great time for complete focus on the little family the Lord has so graciously blessed me with. We had such a great week.

Last weekend, to start the beginning of vacation, Husby and I went away alone for a little "babymoon"! We went to Dallas for two nights and did a lot of relaxing, shopping, laughing, and of course, eating. It was blissful! We left late Friday afternoon and hit up In-N-Out Burger when we rolled into town late that night.

I found and booked our hotel on the way down there, (thank you, iPhone & Expedia), and we ended up with a steal of a deal. Our place was SO nice. It was a suite and we snagged it for super cheap. I didn't get a photo of the kitchenette or bathroom areas.

I loved how the bedroom closed off to the living room. It would be perfect if your babies were with you and you wanted to put them down early! We will definitely remember that when Weebie and Ezra join us on our future trips.

The next morning we slept in, dined at our favorite local taco spot (picture below!), and then hit up the malls - both regular and outlet.

The BEST tacos you'll ever eat!

I joked to Husby that you know you're officially in Full Mommy Mode when you have shopped literally all day and have an arm FULL of sacks and nothing for yourself. I may look a mess, but by golly, my boys will sure be cute! I hit up some deals for them - especially Levi. He basically has everything for his summer wardrobe plus his Easter outfit. I really wish we had a Janie and Jack store here. Their clothes are simply THE cutest and always come through when I need a special occasion outfit for my boy.

I did end up finding some things for me at the Gap outlet before we left town. I loaded up on At-Home comfies for post baby. You know, work out pants, soft tee's and cute little zip up jackets. I love grabbing those whenever I happen upon a Gap outlet, and they're perfect for those first few weeks when you're homebound, but have visitors and still want to look presentable.

We ate ourselves silly that evening at Grand Lux (amazing), and were going to see a movie after, but ended up just going to the hotel and hanging out. We were too full and too tired to move!

The day that we were leaving, we spent the morning at the Farmer's Market.

We just love a good Farmer's Market, so thought it would be fun to check their's out. We left with a belly full of free fruit samples and a couple bags of fresh goodies to bring home. Mmmm - such mouthwatering produce! We made a couple more stops before we left town to scoop up our Weebie Bear that we missed so much!

We know that this was the last time for a long time to get away just the two of us, so we really enjoyed ourselves and left feeling rejuvenated and ready for the adventure ahead of us. It is such a blessing to spend time alone with my love and to just stop amidst the busyness of life and celebrate "us". These little weekends are the best reminders of the intense love, respect and appreciation I have for this man, and best friend, the Lord gave me. We may have only traveled a few hours away and spent just a couple nights, but we had the best time ... because we were together! It was JUST what the doctor ordered. :)
I am a modern day homemaker with a passion for family, cooking, celebrating, decorating, travel, and memory making! The Lord has blessed me with the desires of my heart in my husband and our two sons. We recently built our dream home and cultivating a loving and happy haven for my family is where I find so much joy.

  13. How fun. It's always good to get away and reconnect.

Not sure where you stayed, but we love Embassy Suites for the exact reasons you stated (your hotel looks a lot like an Embassy). Plus they always have a big free breakfast which is great with kids.

  14. So glad you guys got away for a bit! I'm going to have to make a trip to Dallas just for those tacos...they look amazing!
I know what you mean about not buying for yourself anymore. But like you said, my boys sure do look good in their new clothes! I'd rather buy for them any day!

  15. Is it sad that I can tell that's a Residence Inn and could probably tell the year range that it was last renovated?? My hubby travels constantly for work and stockpiles Marriott points for us to use on our family trips! The separate room is *definitely* nice with kids--we LOVE it!

Congrats on the break--you need it. And I totally hear you on the Janie & Jack; how sad I was when my daughter grew out of their clothes and I wasn't able to shop there anymore. Do you shop at Hanna Andersson at al? Their boy stuff isn't quite as fun as the girl clothes, but the quality (polos, etc.) is *amazing* and with their european sizing you can get two years out of coats and sweaters.
