Decking The Halls : Family Style!

Husby and I have always decorated our tree together, beginning our first year of marriage.

I tried to make the sparkling cider bit a tradition, but we forgot to pop it open this year. :)

Levi joined in the decorating fun a couple of years ago and has enjoyed it each time!

This year was especially fun because Levi was totally into all of it and his excitement was so contagious. He was just in awe of each ornament and each light. He was such a little delight! I try to always make tree decorating night a special one, so I surprised Husby with his very favorite meal: Hungarian Beef Goulash with a big hunk of crusty sourdough. Scrumptious! He appreciated it because he's been working the nightshift for weeks on end and hasn't had a home cooked dinner (besides our Thanksgiving dinner) in ages it seemed.

We capped off the evening with a cherry cheesecake I whipped up that morning as we watched a Christmas movie by the light of the tree. Perfect!

It's so fun seeing sweet traditions fall into place and the excitement that proceeds. I just cherish these times with my little family. Oh what fun!

I can hardly wait until next year with another little one in the mix! :)

  1. Oh my goodness...that little boy is so adorable! He really is a treasure and always looks so happy. How exciting to think that in future you will have two precious little boys to enjoy these traditions with. Children are the most wonderful blessing aren't they!

    Love your tree!

  8. That sounds like such a wonderful Christmas tradition. I should think about maybe doing something like that in our house. The past couple years I've just told my husband that I'd like to decorate and then we just do it. Maybe if I cooked him is very favorite meal he'd begin to enjoy that night as much as I do! Thanks for the idea =)
