We had an big fun party on Saturday celebrating Levi turning two in a week! Though I am still in denial about the whole growing up thing (someone make it STOP), we threw our baby boy a Sesame Street party and he LOVED it. I can't explain to you the joy I felt as he walked in and saw the whole tablescape. His little eyes lit up and he screamed out the names of everything he saw! He couldn't stay away from that table. It made all of the planning and preparing more than worth it. It was all about that precious little child!

I took over 400 pictures of the day, so like last year, I am going to divide the party up in to two parts: the decor and the day. Don't worry, I won't post all 400 pictures, but there will be a lot! I would say "WARNING: LOTS OF PICTURES", but I don't think it deserves a warning because I don't see it as a bad thing. I love looking at other people's pictures, (It's the secret spy in me.) and hopefully you do, too. I'm going to cover the decor first because it's in almost every picture, and the day itself tomorrow. This theme was so much fun to plan because of all the colors and all the fun that makes up Sesame Street! I'm so glad that he is the show's #1 fan. :)

The table! So colorful and fun!

Let me tell you about it. When I was racking my brain, trying to come up with ideas, I thought it would be cute to have a vase to represent each character! Well, not really each character, but several of them at least. The items in the vases worked as party favors as well, and a lot of the goodies came from Oriental Trading online. The little stars in front of them were handmade by me. I was totally a DIY'er and I was proud. HA!!
Elmo and his crayons! That was an easy one.

Bert and his bottlecaps! The candy worked perfect to represent Bert's bottlecap collection! :)

Cookie Monster and his cookies! Another easy one.

Big Bird and his teddy bear, Radar. I racked my brain to come up with a representation of BB, and when I remembered his teddy bear, it was like hitting the jackpot!

Ernie's rubber duckies!

Oscar the Grouch and his trashcan! :)

Inside the trashcan were none other than gummy worms.

Here is the table without the cake and cookies on - the night before!

These candy bars matched his invitations perfectly. My favorite part was "this party was brought to you by the letter L and the number 2.

The blurred out invitation:

On Etsy (hallelujah for that wonderful, wonderful place), I found a lady who makes CUTE Sesame stuff. She made these adorable cups for us. Sippy's for the kiddos and regular cups for the adults. Oh, they were so much fun!

Another Etsy seller made these for me. GAH! That SIGN! I just couldn't get over it. So presh!

THE CAKE!

One of my very best friends in all the land makes cakes just as a little hobby and past time. She makes GORGEOUS cakes and she has been threatening "cake retirement" (um, she's 28.), but I called upon her to make Levi's birthday cake. I wanted her because she's pretty incredible with her skills (skillz), and I thought it would be so very special to have his honorary auntie make his cake.
She lives in the next state over and came all the way over (FOUR HOURS) to deliver the goodies. I was just so, so thankful and blessed by her precious friendship. And let me just say, her cake and cookies were FABULOUS!!!!
I was blown away.

Okay, okay. You may be thinking, "oh how cute - she did such a great job!", but let me tell you this, the cake and the cookies were hands down the best tasting cakes and cookies I've ever sunk my teeth into!! Everyone at the party was blown away by how GOOD it was. The cake was buttery and moist and the cookies tasted like they had been cooked an hour before. Now that is talent!!
Nom Nom Nom.
The night before, Mom and I made these lollipop trees as a fun accent. I knew it was something I wanted to do and when I asked her if she knew how, she said, "nope, but we'll figure it out"! That's what I love about my mom - she can tackle anything! I thought they turned out so cute!

More favors: miniature cookies and goldfish crackers!

I thought about giving away real live goldfish, but I thought I may have some angry parents on my hands. Crackers were safe. :)

I made some Elmo Oreos and thought they were so much fun! I stole the idea from somewhere on the internet. :)
Each guest was given a Sesame Street tote bag to take all their goodies home in! Aren't they so much fun? I love them! They are reusable for grocery shopping at whatnot. Look at me being green.

The favors they took in their bags home were plentiful, yet super affordable!! (Seriously, Oriental Trading saved me a bundle!)
~Rubber Ducky
~Teddy Bear
~Cookies
~Crayons
~Trashcan with gummy worms
~Coloring Book
~Memory Game Cards
~Miniature cookies
~Goldfish crackers
~Suckers
~Bottlecaps
~Souvenir sippy cup/adult cup
It's great using favor items as decor, because you don't have near as much to clean up! ;)
The plates matched the napkins on the left, but I didn't get a picture of them!

ReplyDeleteThat WREATH is a really neat idea. Since Balloons come in so many different colors, and are so so cheap, you could potentially make one every year for different themes! SUCH a good idea!!
ReplyDeleteYou have really outdone yourself this time Whitney, the decor looked fantastic! I love that balloon wreath - I found a how-to on the link below for anyone who wants to make one.
