I haven't had a chance to update on my Weight Watcher's progress with all of the insanity of the past few weeks. I have been pretty lax about counting my points over the past two weeks because of everything it entailed. First, we had a giant snow storm where I was trapped in with my family for 5 solid days. I cooked many WW-friendly suppers and was very aware of what I put in my mouth. Though I delighted in a few too many no-bake cookies (snow is always an excuse to indulge), at the end of the week, I had lost 1.5 lbs.
It was a snow storm miracle, guys.
This past week was filled with several Valentine's Day celebrations with family, a date out with Husby where we had an incredible dinner (and popcorn with milkduds at the movies), lunch dates with friends and then several celebratory dinners in honor of Husby. It's been a crazy awesome week filled with some crazy awesome food.
I stepped on the scales and guess what? I stayed the same! Yet another miracle!!
So far, I have lost a total of 11.5 pounds.
Something I have realized and absolutely love about this program is that you lose the weight in a slow and steady pace, and then when you are faced with situations like I have been, the weight stays off. The slower you lose it, the slower you gain it back. I have done the low-carb diet a few times in my life and I can drop 10 pounds in a week but then I eat a donut and gain it all back. Weight Watchers proves that as long as you are putting the right things in your body and splurge in moderation, you will keep the weight off. I just love it!
A family favorite WW recipe is the Potato Soup. It tastes exactly like the regular potato soup with all the fatty heavy cream and cheese, except, it is healthy. Oh, it's wonderful.
Ingredients
2 cans fat-free chicken broth
2 cups water
1 pkg frozen oreida o'brien potatoes
1 pkg fat-free pioneer country gravy mix
Directions
Bring broth and water to a boil.
Add potatoes
Mix gravy with a little water and add to mix stir and simmer 10-15 mins.
1 Cup = 1 Point.
This recipe is so low-point, you could eat just about anything you wanted along with it. I had a slice of Giada's cheesy ciabatta bread.

Good for you Whitney!!! That's quite an accomplishment, to be snowed in so long and STILL lose weight!! ;) And this potato soup recipe is very interesting! I may have to try it, if you say it tastes as good as the full fat variety!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week lovely lady!
You go girl!! I need to try that soup! I have a recipe for a WW Chili that is very delicious! Do you know about the WW cake?!
ReplyDeleteI actually did the low-carb diet 2 years ago and lost 40 lbs and have kept it off. The thing with the low carb diet is - you have to add carbs back in very slowly.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing it again now ('cause I've had an extra 20 lbs I have wanted to loes) and I've lots 9 lbs so far. It just works best for me! :) I tried WW and it just wasn't the best diet for me. I'm very sensitive to carbs so I guess that's why it works so great!
WOW! Great job! I didn't even think you needed to lose any weight to begin with, but good for you for sticking to your plan!
ReplyDeleteAnd that soup sounds INCREDIBLE! I can't wait to try it!
mmmmm potato soup! that sounds good! I'm glad the WW is working for you! Maybe I should give it a shot :/ nothing else seems to be working right now!
ReplyDeleteWow. That's so great. You're doing awesome with your weight loss. I am struggling with mine. Just trying to decrease portions and do the treadmill. The soup sounds yummy:)
ReplyDeleteAwesome job!!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome job!
ReplyDeleteI tried the soup last night and it was delish and super simple! I used the potatoes that had onions and bell peppers in it. I also added a little cheese and sour cream to the hubs and he even loved it!
Thanks for the recipe!
Great job Whitney! That's really awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your accomplishment! I also love ww because of how flexible it is and how the loss is gradual. Thanks for the recipe...I will try it this week!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your weight loss!!! Keep up the good work! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to try this potato soup recipe! Thanks for posting :)
ReplyDeleteAh! I've never been on a diet in my life and I think it's about time for one. I only gained 10 lbs during pregnancy and lost it all by the time I left the hospital...but my whole body changed. I'm up a pant size (it wasn't too small to begin with) and then I think I've put on like 20 lbs since having the baby. UGH! Weight Watchers seems to be the way to go...from what I'm hearing. Keep up the good work! =)
