Weebie Wednesday: Book Review!

Oh my, how this child loves his books.

He grabs my hand and leads me into his room at LEAST five times a day saying, "book! book! book!". We sit down in front of his book shelf, choose a few to read and then cozy up in the recliner for story time.

He listens intently and proudly shouts out the words that he knows. I truly think he would sit there all day long and listen to stories if I let him. He is captivated by make believe and fairy tales - much like his Mommy.

For Christmas, Levi's grandparents added to his awesome collection with several great new books. The beauty of these books is that they have a stuffed animal to go along with the stories. Levi loves snuggling in for reading time with the ACTUAL ANIMAL IN HIS HANDS! It's pretty incredible to an almost 20 month old.

Unquestionably, Levi's favorite story is Llama Llama Red Pajama.

He walks around with his little Llama and says, "LLAMA! LLAMA!" all of the time. He is in love with the little guy. And so am I. This book is so sweet and so funny. It is both witty and charming - a favorite of our entire family!

This book was such a hit with him that Levi was gifted Llama Llama Misses Mama, too. I have yet to read it because rumor has it, it's about Llama starting school. (BOO HOO SOB SOB!!!!!)

(Sorry. I know Levi is only one, but I am already in absolute denial that one day he will have to start school and leave me. I cried this past August when other kids started school. Ugh.)

Another fun book is How Do Dinosaurs Say I Love You?

Levi is a dinosaur lover. Anyone out there watch The Dinosaur Train? We are big fans over here. Because of Levi's fondness for the giant green beasts, naturally, he loves the book.

It's a very sweet story featuring all sorts of different dinosaurs. So fun for little eyes!

Duck, Duck, Goose is a great read and is especially fun for Levi because he loves to scream out "DUCKIE!" and "QACK QACK". I have to try to keep from laughing throughout the whole story because he feels the need to declare these things on every page.

Good story. Fun stuffed animals!

I Love Monkey is a good story because it teaches and encourages kids to be themselves. This little monkey tries to be all sorts of different things, but in the end, realizes that he is best at being a cuddly little monkey.

Isn't the doll just precious? I love him!

This book, Dog and Bear, is a lot of fun because it comes with two animals - the dog and the bear.

This book is three stories in one and it tells of the great adventures of the dog and bear. It's super cute and encourages sharing, helping and being a good friend. Love it.

All of these books have been at the top of our reading list over the past few weeks. It is so much fun watching Levi get so excited about stories. He is at such a fun age - wanting to learn all the time. These books are great contributors to enhancing a vivid imagination!

  3. I can't emphasise enough how vital it is to read to young children and it's great to see that Levi loves his books already. Such a lovely time to spend cuddling up together, it was one of my favourite things when mine were small.

  4. Next to their spiritual development reading is the single most important thing you can do with your child. A child who is read to rarely has trouble learning to read. Let the housework and everything else go if he wants you to read. Love the monkey.

  5. We love the dinosaur books. there are ones about going to school, saying goodnight, and eating food that are great. They all teach good manners. What could be better than learning good manners from a dinosaur.

  6. There are also dinosaur books about getting well, learning colors, counting, and a million others! Look for them! You could have a whole shelf of nothing but the dinosaur books!

  8. Didn't know there were so many book/stuffed animal combos--good to know for later! E loves to 'read', also. She kind of likes to just be in her room by herself and 'read' aloud to herself for awhile. So cute!

  13. I love books for Livy:) We are in a rut though. She is a girl that likes routine so we have to read "Goodnight Moon" every night before bed. I try to introduce a new book, but she's not having that..;)

  15. We love the Llama, Llama books at our house too! Do you have Llama, Llama, Mad at Mama? A great one for both the kiddos AND us parents!

  16. I feel as though I MUST tell you that my little sister (words can be deceiving, she is actually 21 and in college) LOVES the Llama Llama Books. So much so, there were TWO on her Christmas list: "Llama Llama Misses Mama" (conveniently, from our mother) and "Llama Llama Holiday Drama!" It has to be a good sign that my sister is currently studying to be a PreSchool Teacher. But, I really believe she gets the books for HER, not just for the future!
