This month I have noticed such a drastic leap in Levi's communication skills. Every day he learns a new word or phrase and is becoming more and more articulate. I am blown away at his comprehension level. Children are such sponges and it is incredible to watch them learn and become such little people. What a blessing!
He is becoming pretty obstinate when it comes to eating food that he doesn't like. This has been a little challenge because we are so used to him eating anything and everything. Well, those days are long gone. Usually if he will just try it, he'll eat the rest of it - but it's the trying it that is so hard. He still loves all fruit and most vegetables, and he remains disenchanted with meat. Unless it's in a casserole or something where he can't see it. Bread remains his favorite. Just like Mommy.
He loves to identify his body parts and he is so good at it. So far, he can identify his: nose, mouth, eyes, ears, head, hair, teeth, tongue, knees, fingers, hands, arms, toes, tummy, belly button and we just learned shoulders today. He tries to repeat any word or phrase that you ask him to and he is starting to form little sentences. Oh, his voice is just too much to handle. So precious.
He listens to and obeys commands like a pro! This is a huge thing because he is becoming quite the little helper. He is very obedient and crumbles into a pile on the floor when he gets in trouble. It's gut wrenching, really. He remains very, very sweet - just like he was when he was a wee baby!
I am in denial about him being 17 months old. I call him my 28.6 pound newborn.
His favorite shows to watch are Elmo's World, Dora The Explorer, Yo Gabba Gabba and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I usually let him watch one or two episodes of something a day and this gives me ample time to shower and get dressed. He won't sit through just any show - but these are the ones that always captivate him. There are a few other PBS Sprout shows that he really enjoys, too.
I have a little singer on my hands. He loves to sing the ABC song (though A-B-C-D are the only things I can really understand) and Jesus Loves Me. He basically just sings "Jesus Jesus Jesus" over and over again but it is absolutely precious. I often catch him singing to himself while he's playing.
When he wants you to hold him, he stretches his arms out with all his might and gives you a to-die-for look.
He loves to kiss. He loves to hug. Whenever I ask him to give me a hug, he runs up to me, drapes himself over me and says "awwww". Ha!
I absolutely love this stage. He is a joy and a delight to be with and his little personality is so much fun to interact with. He is just my precious little sidekick and I don't know what I would do without him. He makes my days an exciting adventure, each and every day.

ReplyDeleteMaybe one day he and I will get past the scary nursery lady stage and I will hear some of those words he knows! Love, love, love the last picture. He is a doll baby.
ReplyDeleteOh my GOSH!!! I had to double take when I saw that first picture of him in the plaid and jeans... What a little MAN!!! Whitney, observing your sweet little life with Levi ALMOST makes me want to have my own child... Or at least makes me dread it less!! Ha! I'm not quite there yet.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day!!
Sweet! That's one of my favorite stages, too -- when they are learning to talk. So much fun!
ReplyDeleteHe is just too cute. Those boots and wranglers take the cake. I have to tell you he weighs more than my three year old. My three year old weighs 27 lbs. It's so much fun to watch them grow up, but I understand what it's like to be in denial. It's also hard to believe how fast they grow.
ReplyDeleteAhh!!! I love his little boots!!
ReplyDeleteHe is the cutest little cowboy in those Wranglers! He is precious, Whitney. You and Darin are doing such a great job.
ReplyDeleteHe is just so adorable! I know you are enjoying every minute. My "baby" is 21 now - the time does fly, but I sure remember those sweet baby times! o:)
ReplyDeleteHis outfit is just adorable!! It goes great with D's standard outfit. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie! He looks so grown up in that outfit. This stage is so fun. And it only gets cuter from there.

ReplyDeleteOH.MY.WoRd! So stinking cute. Look at that shirt! And those boots! Ahhh!
ReplyDeleteThis is my favourite stage of babyhood. It is just such a delightful age. My youngest (of three) is just coming to it now at 15 months. I was so sad when my second child left toddlerhood behind. Not that she isn't equally lovely now, but at four she just has firmer opinions if you catch my drift! My firstborn is so easy going that the strong will of my second came as a bit of shock!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the boots and baby wranglers! He looks like a little man
ReplyDeleteToo precious! Levi just takes my breath away!

ReplyDeleteOh my, you have tiny cowboy boots. I can't believe he wears them. I have a hard time keeping shoes on my 18 month old. I would love to see the designer diapers with cowboy boots, what a cute picture that would be.
