Well, friends .... tomorrow I will step out of one of the best years of my life and jump forward into another - year 27. If you didn't catch what I'm trying to say, well, it's my BIRTHDAY!
(This is where you leave me tons of lovely comments telling me Happy Birthday and showering me with compliments.)
(I mean, the compliment thing is for my own good, really. You know, since I'm working on receiving them and all.)
(And you better believe when I get "bloggy compliments" I boast and relish in them all day since no one can see me.)
(You think I'm joking???)
Anyway...
It's so bizarre to me that I'll be 27. When I was younger, I had my life all planned out. I wanted my first baby at 24, my second at 27 and then I would be finished. I didn't have Weebie until 25 and we aren't planning on another until Husby is in his Residency, so it doesn't look like my childhood plans are panning out. But I'm not too far off and wouldn't have it any other way.
Twenty-seven seems SO OLD to me. If any of you are aware of the "Forever 27 Club" or "Club 27" you know that it is a group of rock and blues musicians who all died at the age of 27. Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Kurt Kobain and Jim Morrison are just a few who make up membership of this "club".
I don't know about you, but these people seem OLD to me. I mean, when I think of any of these people, I think of people years older than me. But nope, I'm there. I'm their age. Wow.
I can honestly say that I don't feel 27 in the least. I feel 24. I often tell people I'm 24 because I just can't remember that I'm not. I always think my brother is 27 and I am 24. For the longest time, he stayed 17 in my mind and in his mind, I was 14. I was like 18 and he was telling people I was 14.
Time keeps going and I'm not even aware of it. A year ago today I was celebrating my birthday with a two month old and a Husby who was a 3rd Year Medical Student.

Now, I have a 14 month old and a Husby who is 9 months away from completing Medical School. Wow.

I pray 27 is even better than 26. Aaaaand, I pray I don't become the newest member in the Forever 27 Club. ;)
Eat a big fat piece of cake in honor of me today!

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!!! I hope you and your family have a wonderful birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!! I am 27 (for one more month), and I ALWAYS forget how old I am... I usually think I'm 23. :o)
ReplyDeleteI hope you have the happiest of all birthdays! Make it a day that is all about you! Surround yourself with people you love and please post what your mommy gets you! I love those posts because she always have the neatest ideas! :)
ReplyDeleteMany happy returns! Hope you have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking as a 33 year old, 27 seems really young to me. That was when I had my first child and now he's five and a half! Time flies!
Happy birthday!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great day with your family!
Happy Birthday! I hope you have a lovely day. I was pretty excited about turning 27 but now that I am going to be 28 in a month I'm not so sure. I think it always takes a little getting used to the next age. Going to stop rambling now... Have a great day. :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! 27 will be better than 26! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!! Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! I'm the same way--in my mind's eye, I think that I am 22 and I just turned 26. It's true though, age is just a number! :) Enjoy yourself!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Whitney! I'm 27 (will be 28 in December) and it's not such a bad year ;) In fact, I'm actually looking forward to my 30's! I already feel like I'm living the life of a 30 year old anyway ;) T
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful birthday! Have a second cupcake on my behalf today ;)
Happy birthday my dear! Enjoy every second!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Hope you have a wonderful day with your family :) I definitely keep telling people I'm 24 on accident (I'll turn 26 in just a few weeks!)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! 27 was a pretty good year, so I hope the same to you! I'm 3-0 in a couple months. Can't even say it.
ReplyDeleteOn the compliment front, I read your blog because you have a peace and insight that is well beyond your 27 years. I hope to one day grow up and be able to reflect on life with the same joy, faith, and patience.
Happy Birthday sweet little friend.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday sweet little friend.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I hope you have a wonderful day and that 27 treats you as well as 26 did!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Whitney!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!! I hope you have a GREAT day today!!
ReplyDeleteI love that you think of yourself as 24. I'm 26, and I'll be 27 in December. But I plan on telling people for the rest of my life that I'm 26.
I hope you have a wonderful birthday! I'm also dreading 27... 2 months from yesterday will be my 27th birthday and it scares me to officially be on the back end of my 20's. However, I must say that these past two years have been the best of my life and a time where I've learned more about who I am than ever before. Have a great weekend, Whitney!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!!! My next birthday will be 27, and I am hoping by then that maybe my hubby will be ready for a baby! We shall see...
ReplyDeleteI turned 29 back in June, and I often think, "I'm almost a thirty something?". Next year I'll be able to say, "I'm in my early thirties." Yowzers! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy, Happy Birthday! Have a wonderful day!
Happy birthday! I pray that God will do a lot in your life during your 27th year!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Now, is your b-day the 6th or the 7th? My little sister's is the 6th, and mine is the 10th! I didn't realize we were almost EXACTLY the same age! I know what you mean about 27!...OLD!!!! It's so crazy! However, I guess it's better than 28, so I don't know what we're going to do next year!
ReplyDeleteEither way, you are beautiful, full of life, and gaining experience with every day! I hope that this next year is even better than this last! Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!!
ReplyDeleteI just turned 27, it's a weird place to be, ha! I don't feel old enough to be living the life i am!
And if it makes you feel any better i thought you were like 24/25 or so, not sure why. oh right, because you look 17 and I knew you had to be older than that so i guessed 25. =p
Happy Birthday!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband's birthday is the 8th and our anniversary is the 9th! I think cake all weekend sounds great.
Yay! Happy Birthday! I hope you have a fabulous day!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Whitney! I was just telling Ryan the other day that I thought 27 sounded so old, and I'm going to be 30 in a couple of months!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I thought the opposite of you about my life. I thought I would never get married (I did at age 22) and that I would be an older mom if I had kids at all (for some reason I had convinced myself that I would never have kids even though I really wanted them). I had 3 kids by 25 and now 4 at 29. Crazy!
Happy Birthday - I turn 27 on Sunday! :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I promise that 27 is a great year. That's the year I'm halfway through. It only gets better. :) Have a great one!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! I will be honest..27 was a weird age to turn, and it has been a pretty decent year so far for me! ENJOY YOUR DAY. Make sure you eat lots of cake..b/c calories don't count on your birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! Growing up, I thought I would be a doctor with 2 kids by the time I was 27. :) I've never been good with realistic planning!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!!! Hope you have a super great day and a fabulous year 27!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!!! I can't believe they only have 9 months left of med school. It makes me want to throw up and cry. I can't believe it is almost over. I'm excited, but this has been such a big part of our lives. Holy cow. Ok, sorry to be commenting on something other than your birthday, but seeing it in months instead of years freaks me out for some reason. I'm off to ponder...
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you!!!! Or as my girls said when they were little Happpy to You!!!! Screaming at the top of their lungs!!! I hope this next year is an amazing year for you! Lots of growth and blessings! Going out to dinner tonight so I think I can find some cake or atleast a brownie to enjoy on your behalf!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great birthday!!! 27 was a great year for me. Here's hoping it's just as awesome for you!!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I am 27, 28 in 2 1/2 weeks. I keep thinking I'm 24 too! Don't worry, 27 is still very young and you will enjoy every second of it. :) Here's to another happy year full of God's blessings!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! I had no idea about the Club 27. That's kind of scary to think, as I'm turning 27 in a month. I don't feel that old, either!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! i turned 28 this year, and it felt REALLY OLD to me too!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful day!
Happy Birthday! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! Have fun in NYC!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! 27 aint that old, I'm 29...(and in denial)! Have a great day :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! You and your family are lovely. You are an incredible hostess (that
ReplyDeletes what your first blog I read was about and I was hooked) with a beautiful home. I love reading about your devotion to God and your adorable son. You are a great mother which is evident through the rich experiences you provide for you adorable son.
There's your compliment.
And I totally think I'm 22 half of the time (I'll be 25 on the 17th (definitely just typed 24 though)
Many blessings!
Happy Birthday! I'm sure 27 will bring lots of exciting things! Good luck with applying to residency!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Girl! I'm 28 about to turn 29 and I know just how you feel. I stayed 26 in my mind for a long time. I love reading your blog and feel like if I met you in person we'd be instant friends. Have a fabulous day!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!!!! From following your tweets, I'm guessing you had a great day!
ReplyDeleteI turned 23 last week, and for some reason, for the past couple of years, whenever someone asks me how old I am, I always want to say 27 - there must be something magical about that age :)
Ahh, sweet girl, 27 is sooo young! Keep lookin' up He is blessing your days! I love, love, love your blog. Everyday or so, I check in to see your cutie or read your wisdom, or laugh and cry with ya. It seems weird sometimes that one can get familiar with people they don't even know, but I think God brings people together in all sorts of ways-for such a time as this.
ReplyDeleteMay you be hugely blessed as you live your special year out! Muchly in Christ-Vic
Happy Birthday.
ReplyDeleteYou & my sister are the same age & she is only a few weeks older.
I remember 27, it was sadly, 13 yrs ago. EEW!
I'll trade ages with u if you are willing? Ha!
Just wait until you hit 33! I'm convinced the 30s are the new 20s. Ha!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!
I hope you had a wonderful 27th birthday filled with lots of joy and love!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I feel too old at 22 (almost 23) but I think that's only because my Mom had all 3 of her kids by 23, and I'm no where near starting yet.
Happy Belated Birthday! I hope you had a fabulous day and that this year is even more wonderful than the last!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY!!!!
ReplyDeleteJust two weeks ago, I left 27 for 28 :( I'm sad...
