A godly, wise woman that I've looked up to for years recommended this book for any and all parents. I eagerly ran to my local Christian bookstore, snatched it up and began devouring it. The book is excellent.

This isn't a "How To" book on how to raise perfect children, how to get your children to mind you or how to be a great parent. Instead, it brings out God's truth on family and how they should appropriately function. It encourages shepherding your child's heart so that on their own, they come to a greater understanding of their sin nature and how much they need the Lord.
It's never too early to begin covering your child in prayer and doing all that you can NOW to faithfully lead your children to Christ. This book is packed with powerful truths to help you along the way in your journey of parenting. How could we do it without the Lord? I know I couldn't.

Happy Mommying!

ReplyDeleteGreat recommendation! I think I might buy this for one my friends who's a mommy. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a great book! I read it when our oldest was just a toddler, but I should probably read it again, for good measure. :)
ReplyDeleteMy mom just gave this book to me and I can't wait to read it. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI agree. It is an excellent book for mom's raising young ones.
ReplyDeleteI love Weebie's photo. He is just too cute.
That is my #1 parenting book! Love, love, love it!
ReplyDeleteI love the focus of Shepherding Your Childs Heart which is teaching your children to obey-not because you say so, but because of the condition their hearts are in-
A second book,(you won't need it yet, not until that cutie is a bit older-) that I use and also adore is (also at the Christian bookstores): Creative Correction by Lisa Welchel. This has really helped me with my three little guys-
Sounds like a great read. Thanks for sharing about it. Think its great too to find the charm and specialness of being a wife and mother amongst all the other things that need doing:)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this book! I am currently on chapter 5 and am learning so much. I also recommend "Instructing a Child's Heart" also by Tedd Tripp. I plan on reading it next. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the books that I actually recommend to moms! I love how he doesn't just focus on the behavior but, on the heart and uses correction to share the Gospel with our children. There are so many books that just focus on behavior and not getting to the heart of why our children are doing what they are doing and it helps our kids to surrender to The Lord. Love it! Hope you gain a lot of wisdom from it. :)
ReplyDeleteOur pastor just finished a 3-part parenting series and he just went on and on about this book! You can listen to his podcast if you look up "Fellowship Memphis." They were great sermons.
ReplyDeleteThose dimples are ADORABLE!
