A Dream Come True.

My Sister-In-Law's brother is in the play Oklahoma! at a local outside theatre this summer. He plays the role of Jud and hooked us up with some tickets to see a performance on Friday evening. Little did I know that it was going to be an event I would never forget.

We made our way to the show with my whole family - Husby, Weebie, Me, Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister-In-Law, and Nephew. Our assigned seats were on the 6th row center, but we decided since we had the babies with us, it would be better to sit toward the back where they could roam around and play if needed.

We sat down with our popcorn and lemonade and settled in for the pre-show. I half heartedly watched as I messed with Weebie and talked to my family. The pre-show was coming to an end and people were taking their final seats. A young guy with his little family walked right past Hubsy and I and found a place two rows in front of us - toward the back as well. The guy held a little boy as he shuffled through the seats in front of us. As soon as I glanced at his face, my heart DROPPED.

I hit Husby as hard as I could while bouncing in my seat and screamed "OH MY GOSH IT'S TAYLOR HANSON!!!!!!!" Right at that moment, I looked up and his wife was standing right next to Husby and she looked at me and then made her way to her seat. I was absolutely freaking out. I mean, I couldn't even breathe. I was shaking, I was screaming on the inside and hitting Husby as fast as I could. My family sat staring at me as I made a complete fool of myself and they were sure getting a kick out of the whole ordeal. It was the former love of my life - my absolute obsession for years - my former picture of perfection - it was Taylor Hanson.

I couldn't even watch the show. I stared at him and his precious little family the entire time. They sat just two rows ahead of us and my heart was racing so fast I thought I was going to burst. I have run into Isaac three different times throughout the years, but never just Taylor. He has four adorable little children and the sweetest little wife.

How do I know she is sweet?

Well....BECAUSE HUSBY HAD A CONVERSATION WITH HER!

Levi got restless a half hour into the show and so did a few of TAYLOR HANSON'S kids. Husby took Weebie up to run around for a little bit and she did the same. Little did I know, Weebie wandered up to his kids and HUGGED the 18 month old!!!! Husby and Taylor's wife then chatted for a few minutes about the kids and she said that Levi "is just the FRIENDLIEST little thing!!" I could have died when I found out that Weebie played with TAYLOR'S kids. Where was I when all this took place? Glued to my seat staring at Taylor.

After intermission, it started raining and so everyone congregated upstairs under the shelter. Guess where we stood? RIGHT NEXT to Taylor and his family. I died a thousand deaths. Seriously. I was freaking out. Weebie wandered over there again and Taylor's sweet wife said, "it's nice to see you again!" to him! Taylor looked at Levi and smiled.

And I DIED.

I definitely would have talked to him had the circumstances been different, like say, if he were alone or just with his wife. But he was out with his family for a fun evening together and I really didn't want to disturb that. I am so happy I went with my gut and stayed away because during the congregation under the shelter, a young girl recognized him and basically stalked the poor family. She asked for a picture with him, and he politely obliged and posed with her. Immediately after that, he said to his wife, "come on, let's go.... let's go out this way", and they snuck out a back exit.

I could hardly believe I had 2 solid hours sitting behind Taylor Hanson. I was thrilled beyond explanation! Husby just laughed and he really couldn't believe the whole thing either. He knows the depth of my former obsessive ways and though he thinks I'm ridiculous, he admitted that they seemed like the nicest little family.

If you are wondering how the show was, I'm sad to say....I can't really tell ya. There was another show going on where I was, and THAT show was amazing!

:)

(PS. Wouldn't you know the ONE DAY I didn't grab my camera to take was the ONE DAY that I was going to run in to THE TAYLOR HANSON? Sigh....the iPhone photos will have to do, but I'm still sick about it.)

  2. This post had me laughing, in a good way of course. I was never a fan of there's, but I can totally relate. I'm pretty sure i'd be acting the same way if I was sitting that close to my childhood crush and for that long!! You are one lucky girl :)

  3. Hahaha, cute story! Isn't it funny how former crushes can reduce you to teenager status in a matter of seconds? ;-)

  5. Hahah I love it! You know I'm a HUGE Hanson fan also, so I would have just passed out if I would have been there! Its weird, I've seen Isaac around several times also but never Taylor, he always was the shy one. :-)

  6. Well I am not a fan but I can understand. Very glad you left him alone though. I wish more people did that. They are just normal people and want to go hang out with their family. Has to be hard always being pestered. But I guess that is why they make they big bucks, to put up with fans!

  7. That is soooo awesome! Ryan's boss's family are all really good friends with them (his boss's wife used to be the nanny to the younger four Hansons) and they're always casually saying things like, "Yeah, our friend Natalie..." "At Zac and Kate's rehearsal dinner..." and it's so hard for me to casually "uh-huh" as if I'm not screaming on the inside. Hahaha.

  8. OMG okay two things. First of all, I saw Zac Hanson at Dilly Deli the other day and freaked out as well. He was with his wife and their baby.

Secondly, just recently I was telling our organist about Maxwell being dedicated at our church and he was like oh well I'm pretty sure his so-and-so is in the musical Oklahoma. I was like really? Wow that's cool. And then here you are talking about it. So it's true. (-:

We might just have to go see it. (-:

  11. OMG! I'm so jealous!!! I had pictures of him up in my room for so long! I don't know if I could have been as well behaved as you! I probably would have made a fool of myself! LOL

  12. That is the coolest thing ever! My seventh grade self was freaking out just reading this. I don't know if I would have recognized him, though. I am so bad at noticing famous people, even if they are right in front of me.

  13. haha! I remember staying the night at my best friends house and we would just talk and talk about how cute Taylor was. Since we live in Oklahoma we would create these elaborate scenes in our heads where we could possibly run into him....just crazy!

  14. You are too funny!! I met the top 10 from American Idol a few seasons ago (when Fantasia won) and I tried so hard to keep it cool. It's really difficult when you just want to scream with joy!

  15. Yeah....I loved him too. Sigh. :o)

  16. I so remember your obsession with the Hanson boys. Your mom would drive by his house so you could stalk them. lol I guess you never forget those feelings of years long ago.

  17. I too was obsessed with Hanson in high school and got to meet them last year when they came to my town! So funny to know I'm not the only one who still sometimes acts like a 13 year old on the inside :D

  21. What a great story! I don't know if I would have been able to contain myself like you did. I love that they're all such great guys with great families - none of that fame went to their heads. Love them!

  22. Oh my gosh, I would have died. Like fallen over in my seat, no need to call 911, she's a goner, D.I.E.D. I LOVED Hanson growing up. I was borderline obsessed. I cried when I read the article in People that Taylor got married. Umm, yah. Now that I admitted to being a total freako on your blog, just wanted to say hi & I enjoy your stories! You have an adorable family! K + Tay = Luv (just don't tell my hubby :])
