Let's Par-tay!

In just ten short days, we will come together to celebrate my baby's very first birthday. Can you guys believe it? It has almost been an entire year since we welcomed my precious Love Drop into the world. Unbelievable. People always told me that it went by fast, and boy were they right. My baby is almost ONE!

I have been planning his party for a few months now and over the past few weeks, Mom and I have been running like crazy trying to get everything ready. Some may say it's silly to "go all out" for their child's first birthday, but that is where I disagree. Your baby only turns one once; it's a big celebration!

We are doing a "family only" party this year. I figured that his future birthdays will involve all of his little friends, so I wanted his first one to be a special one just for family. As bittersweet as it is to see him grow up and turn one like a big boy, I am so excited. I can't wait to see him dig into his smash cake and wear his precious little birthday hat.

I want to share details of what we have so far for the party, but I kind of want to keep it a surprise so that when it's all said and done, I can do one big blowout post with pictures and descriptions. This has been the most fun party I've ever planned - by far!

Everything that we ordered has finally all arrived from the world wide web and with each box that came to my door step, I absolutely squealed with glee. It's just SO cute, guys!

I tell Levi every day that his birthday is drawing near and he gives me a courtesy smile as if he's telling me he's excited. I think he's really just smiling at the goofy grin on my face and the over-excited tone in my voice. I know that he'll be excited for his birthdays in the future, but this year, I think I'm more excited than anyone.

One year doesn't seem near as long as it used to.

Did any of you guys have a specific theme for your babies first birthday?

  5. It certainly isn't over the top to plan a big party for your first's first! Not only is it his first birthday, it is the first anniversary of the day you became a mother. A double celebration!

I had a lovely family party when my son turned one. I carefully packed away all the decorations, but then went on to have two girls so they were never reused! I'm planning my first daughter's 4th birthday party for next week. She wanted a heart theme, so I'm having fun with that. My littlest one turns one in July and I'm already planning her birthday! Planning parties for your children is so much fun isn't it!

Can't wait to see pictures. You and your mum always seem to plan the most amazing parties!

  9. I had someone tell me that this is the only party where you'll get to pick the theme. Soon they'll fall in love with some character that you'll just have to display at their parties!
My son turns one in Aug. so I'm gathering up ideas. I'm thinking monkies, cause he's a lil monkey like his dad, ha. Can't wait to see pictures!

Unfortunately, they only get shorter. Time really does fly... just our parent always said.

  15. I planned the first birthday for months! Ours was barnyard theme. I made a 6 inch cake with cupcakes on a tier. Covered the cake with animals I made from fondant. Made my own cupcake toppers. Yes, lots of work! I have pictures on my blog.

His second birthday is August and I'm just now starting to plan it. I'm doing a Maisy train theme. Since Maisy is a European character no party supplies are available here so I'm doing everything from scratch. I'll be making a train cake and covering it with fondant. Super excited .....and nervous lol

  17. I bet Levi's birthday is going to be amazing, everything you do is amazing. My baby just turned 1 2 weeks ago, the theme was "I dig being 1"
The colors were orange and gray with all kinds of construction trucks. So cute! The cake had a digger on top holding the candle.
