I've said it before and I'll say it again...
My name is Whitney and I'm a sucker for a gimmick.
Infomercials are dangerous for me. It's safe to say that the products sold on an hour long commercials are the Gimmicks Of All Gimmicks. The King of Gimmicks. Gimmicks Deluxe. The Granddaddy of Gimmicks. You get the picture? I don't know how many times I've picked up the phone to order a new exercise contraption that guarantees a new body in two weeks or your money back guaranteed. Husby seems to always walk in the room seconds before they ask for my credit card number. He spoils all my fun.
"As Seen On TV" stores suck me in every time. I could spend hours in there browsing items that I simply can't live without. I have a garage full of "item's I can't live without", by the way.
State Fairs lure me in with their "Only Found Here" gadgets and gizmos and I'll be darned if I don't come home every single year with a new product promising a changed life and cleaner home.
So. I think you understand my weakness. I'm a sucker. I believe everything those blasted salesmen tell me. I'm not even lying when I tell you I whipped out $5 to buy a "magic worm" that jumped from hand to hand and disappeared before your very eyes at the State Fair this year. Hubsy stopped me. Again, he ruined my fun. (He claimed he saw a string doing all the work. I think he made it up.)
Recently, I received a gift that I had been yearning for, for months!

THE PERFECT BROWNIE PAN!
1. It's a gimmick.
2. Brownies are involved.
It's a match made in Heaven!
I squealed in delight when I opened my gift and guess what I did the very next day? Well, I made brownies, of course!

Now is that not the handiest thing you've ever seen in all of your years of life? Oh, I loved it! I made all of my guests run up and grab one off of the tray, just like they do on TV. Husby told me to put them on a plate, but I wanted the dramatic effect of pulling them from the pan. We had so much fun!
Next time, I'm totally putting a different topping on each brownie, just because I can. I'm entirely more excited about this than any 26 year old lady should be.
What's next on my "Must Have Gimmick" list?

Why, the Shake Weight of course!
Okay, I've gotta get off of here and order one before Husby catches me.

get the ninja blender!! its the best thing i have ever used!!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a perfect brownie... Because I'm hungry... And I want a brownie...
ReplyDeleteThe Shake Weight, however, is a really strange product... And not to mention a few of my guy friends like to giggle when the commercial comes on... Lord knows I probably wouldn't have to stretch to realize what perversion they went to throughout the duration of the commercial, but I know I don't want to be there...
OMG Have you seen Ellen talk about the Shake Weight.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kmrFBnrkqg
Must see for you!
I have the perfect brownie pan too! I received it for Christmas and love it so much. I have made three batches with it but had to stop because I was getting addicted, whoops!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jacqui. The Ninja blender is fantastic. It is better than any blender or food processor I have ever owned. Most TV gadgets don't suck me in but Dennis has an eye for them.
ReplyDeleteLol, this is so funny. You remind me of my grandmother. She had to have every gadget going, and be the first to own new inventions, like the microwave and videorecorder. She didn't have a garage, though, so I'm not sure where she 'stored' everything!
ReplyDeleteI so want this thing. And to know that it really works makes me want it even more!
ReplyDeleteOh, I want the perfect brownie pan - and the shake weight. Does anyone have the shake weight? Someone totally needs to review it!
ReplyDeleteI just saw the Shake Weight the other night on tv... I want one too!
ReplyDeleteI got the perfect brownie pan for christmas ... i haven't tried it out yet though, cause my hubby went on a diet right after that. glad to know it works :)
ReplyDeleteI am also a infommercial junkie. In our area the news does this story every wednesday called "does it work wednesdays". Anyways the reporter test ALL these great infommercial products and tries them before we buy them. So it helps me in my spending money on them :)
ReplyDeleteHere is the website if you ever wanted to looks.
www.kfvs12.com. click on news and go to Does it Work Wednesdays. You can go back for a long time and see all the things she test..kinda cool
OMG we have the perfect brownie pan and LOVE it ... and I've been waiting on the Shake Weight, but I think an investment might be coming very soon.
ReplyDeleteSo you know how at WalMart they always have "as seen on TV" items by the check out line? Well I've been eyeing that same brownie pan for WEEKS. I just might buy it now that I know I'm not the only one. ;)
ReplyDeleteI have been eyeing the Shake Weight! I saw it at Target last week and am waiting to hear from someone who has used it!
ReplyDeleteI am super excited to see that the brownie gimmick works well! I REALLY want one! I ALMOST feel like it's cheating, but not enough to care :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome. I've been wanting one too. Glad to know it works!!
ReplyDeleteMy DH and I got this pan and another one that supposedly makes really chewy brownies for Christmas this year. I love this pan and how it makes perfect equally portioned brownies. I have yet to use the other one, but I'm sure I will get to it soon.
ReplyDeleteI have been eyeing that one!! I'm so glad that you shared about it, now I know that it works. The brownies look so delish!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to know that this product actually works! I have been watching the commercial for it, and just feeling in total need of this product! I am in love with baking, and I especially love brownies. Hmm..I wonder how well this product would work with a cake? It would be like a pre-sliced cake, but I think icing it would be difficult. Maybe that's not a good idea....
ReplyDeleteI WANT THAT BROWNIE PAN.
ReplyDeleteI HAVE ALWAYS WANTED THAT BROWNIE PAN.
I AM JEALOUS THAT YOU HAVE THAT BROWNIE PAN.
MY HUSBAND WON'T LET ME BUY THAT BROWNIE PAN.
That is all.
I have to know... do you like the brownie pan? I don't like corner brownies at all-- I like the gooey middle brownies. Does the brownie pan turn all of the brownies into corner brownies?
ReplyDeleteYou are making me want a giant brownie!
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny! My 4 year old is convinced we need a perfect brownie pan and every time we are in Target he tells me how badly he needs Wonder Hangers so his clothes don't get wrinkled.
ReplyDeleteI too am guilty of being a sucker for a gimmick! After begging for the Perfect Brownie Pan, my hubs got it for me for Christmas....and I LOVE IT!! It really does make PERFECT brownies! And I make cute little individual banana breads and corn bread loafs with it! Love it!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I had always wondered if that brownie thing would actually work. Now I know! ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm so this way too! I just bought the wen haircare shampoo: http://www.wenhaircare.com/
ReplyDeleteAnd a few years ago I brought a special mop I saw on TV, but it was a bust and didn't work wel lat all.
My husband and I had those ab rollers in college, ha. Not sure where they are now.
Haha! I've been wanting to try both the brownie pan and the shake weight...tell us if it's any good!
ReplyDeleteoh gimmicks, I am a sucker for them too. I used to love the home shopping channel as a kid. an dI love sky mall magazines because it amazes me to see the cool things people have invented. the convenience isle at the grocery store was made for me, give me a "must have" item in a small package and I am sold.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not alone in my love for gimmicks. I hope you'll post pictures of your decorated brownies.
lol, i saw that brownie pan at target today! Okay, something you would probably LOVE if you like "as seen on tv" stuff, is the shark portable steam pocket. It's in stores now, but i first saw it on an infomercial. I'm telling you, this thing cleans everything. You can steam your blinds, your furniture..including your couches...i mean everything! I steamed my blinds, furniture countertops, cabinets--pretty much everything lol. The cloths were SO dirty, i couldn't believe i was sitting on such a dirty couch! Plus, it disinfects so it's good for little levi :)
ReplyDeleteHa! I totally want a shake weight!!
ReplyDeleteI so want that brownie pan and a slap chop! :)
ReplyDeleteOh I love the brownie pan! It's fabulous! :)
ReplyDeleteI have wanted a scunci steamer ever since I saw an infomercial for it years ago but I have never gotten one.
