Lions and Tigers and... Baby Einstein Dinosaurs? Oh My!

cmas_0267

See this little critter here? Well, he's a monster. A scary evil crazy monster.

Sure, he may seem innocent and sweet, but he's not. He's terrifying.

The other night after a fun evening of playing with Weebie, we put him to bed and enjoyed some queues from our Netflix. We watched two and a half hours worth of stuff and then made our way to the bedroom to get ready to head to Sleepy Town. I finished brushing my teeth and doing my thang before the ole Husbster so I hopped in to bed and popped in my super hot mouth guard.

I'm telling ya, it doesn't get any cuter than that.

As I laid there drifting off sweetly to the hum of the baby monitor and the running water in the bathroom, I heard a faint noise in the background.

Du-doo-doo-du-doo....Du-doo-doo-du-doo....

I popped up and held my breath.

(As if that made things any quieter)

Du-doo-doo-du-doo....Du-doo-doo-du-doo....

I grabbed the monitor. Levi was deep in to Sleepy Town with his little hiney in the air.

Du-doo-doo-du-doo....Du-doo-doo-du-doo....

I freaked.

"HUSBY! STOP BRUSHING YOUR TEETH AND GET IN HERE RIGHT NOW! THERE IS A TOY GOING OFF IN THE LIVING ROOM! OH MY GOODNESS OH MY GOODNESS OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!"

We were in the Living Room all evening long and it was nothing but peace and quiet. No toys went off without being pushed. No freaky dinosaurs acted out. Life was easy.

But as SOON as we went to sleep and the house was dark and quiet, the thing went off. ON IT'S OWN. And I was shaking in my jammies.

I told Husby that if Levi woke in the middle of the night that I was waking him up to go with me because I was NOT walking through that dark Living Room by myself where the evil dino hid. What if it was in a different spot? What if it started playing music as I walked by? Oh my gracious, I had to get rid of this thing!!

I calmly asked Husby if he would dispose of the dinosaur so I could get some rest. He told me no, he'd handle it in the morning.

I tossed.

I turned.

I swear I heard that thing all night.

Du-doo-doo-du-doo....Du-doo-doo-du-doo....

He was out to get me.

When I woke up in the morning, I walked over and pushed him with my toe.

Du-doo-doo-du-doo....Du-du-du-du-du-du-doooooo....it was stuck on the same note and skipping all over the place. The freak.

Husby claims there's a short in it. I claim he's possessed.

Regardless, I hate the toy and want to donate it to Good Will. So I can share the spooks with the needy.

I'm generous like that.

"No, Weebie, NO! We don't play with scary toys."

cmas_0266

"Why are we scared of him, Mommy?"

"Because he is bad, Weebie. Very bad."

cmas_0270

"He's.....bad, Mommy?"

"Yes, Lovie."

cmas_0271

"I've never seen anything bad before. I think I'm scared now."

"It's okay, baby. We'll get you a better toy."

cmas_0268

"I'm in!! Yay New Toys!!"

cmas_0272

"Get lost, sucker!"

  6. I laughed out loud when I read this. When Livy was about 6 months old she had a baby doll that talked, cried...yada yada yada. One night it kept going off in the night and it was making Dreick so mad. He ripped the doll to shreds. No lie.

  7. Cute post! And cute baby!! I would just like to add that I have to wear a nightguard, too! How glamorous is that?? I KNOW I look incredibly seductive with it in! :)

  8. Levi looks way too old. And I don't like that one bit! Tell him to slow down until Auntie Cari can come love on him while he's still a baby!

Now, with that said....We had a puzzle when the girls were little. It was farm animals and when you put the puzzle in the right place it made he appropriate sound. Moo for cow...Oink for pig...etc.. We had a very similar situation and it ALWAYS mooed in the middle of the night and FREAKED us out. The old way to stop it was to turn it upside down in the dark closet. It was the WEIRDEST thing!!

  9. Cub has a puzzle that makes motor noises (like cars starting and planes taking off) whenever we walk by. IT SCARES ME TO DEATH.

We have yet to toss it, but we did put it in the corner, away from where we walk.

  10. Something very similar happened to us a few months ago....One of our toys went off in the middle of the night. Of course it was a night my husband was at work so I was left to freak out and deal with it myself!

  11. oh my goodness, totally laughed out loud (at work) when i read the Goodwill comment! I've heard about those possessed toys. Creepy! If we ever encounter one, it'll probably go to the dogs.
As always, Levi is too cute!

  14. My dog, Fenway has a ball that says things like "Come and get it", :Big Daddy" and has this crazy laugh. Well it is motion activated and one night I went into the living room when I was home and it started laughing and saying come and get it!! I thught I was going to pee my pants. It is now at the bottom of the toy basket and the batteries are dying so every once in a while I hear a little mini laugh!

  15. yikes!! we have that toy and i LOVE how it separates all of the musical parts. it's one of our favorites. ours has never gone off on its own in the middle of the night, though.

  16. We've had some creepy posessed toys! Usually it was caused by a low battery and changing it up did the trick. I wouldn't have known this had I not read it in a Fisher Price instruction book (which is a very rare occurance, indeed!). :)

  17. We HAD an Elmo doll in the house that would randomly yell out, "Yoohoo. Are you going to play with Elmo?" I said HAD because he has now been sent to Goodwill. He would freak me out in the middle of the night!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. That would have freaked me out so bad. I think I would have made my husband lock it out of the house.

  19. Okay..I laughed really hard at this post - it also freaked me out a bit, because I had some serious trauma after an aunt let me watch Chucky as a little kid (you know the movie with the sadistic little toy) That movie scarred me for life. But - your story was REALLY funny too.

  20. We have several toys that go off on a whim. Melissa and Doug puzzles are probably the biggest culprit. Aso the Fisher Price Sit and Spin Zebra. Bre forewarned!

  21. so...thanks for the nightmares. pretty much the scariest post ever. creepy toys. at least it wasn't a clown.
