Last month, when Husby was on an out of town rotation, Levi and I packed up and spent a few days at my parents house to sort of break of the monotony of our weeks.
Something I absolutely love about coming home is the preparation my Mom puts into our arrival. As soon as she knows that we are heading her way, she starts planning, preparing, and making sure everything is just perfect. She makes my life SO much easier while traveling with a baby.
She has a closet filled with diapers.
She has an entire shelf full of formula.
She has tummy drops.
She has a baby bath tub.
She has a crib.
She has TOYS.

(Levi's toys at Glam*Ma's)
She has absolutely everything I would ever need for little Levi, so that I can just pack up his clothes and mine and head on over. It is a lifesaver.

(These little formula bottles sit outside my bedroom door at her house, for quick access for Levi's midnight snacks! ;)
If I had to load up everything Levi would need for a few days stay, I'm sad to say that my little car just would not fit it all. My Little Man requires a lot of things! The pack and play alone would take up the whole trunk. Ugh!
All of this to say, I so aspire to be like my Mom to my children when they are grown and gone. I hope I put as much love and thought into preparing for their arrival home just as she does. It makes me feel so special! It is something I treasure.
Not only does she make sure that Weebie is taken care of, but she also makes sure that Husby and I are taken care of! For instance, this was waiting for me in our bathroom.

And if that isn't enough, here is a cabinet that is always stocked for unexpected (or expected) guests!

I never even pack a toothbrush when I go home because I know there will always be a new one sitting in this cabinet. I love this cabinet.
Doesn't this all just make you want to set out to be the best hostess ever?! It sure does me. This is only a little bit of what she does when preparing for our homecoming. I just wanted her to know what it means to us. She makes us feel like royalty.
And speaking of royalty, when Levi is at Glam*Ma's, he sleeps in a bed fit for a PRINCE!

Isn't it beautiful? How I adore it. Mr. Weebie looks like an angel when he is asleep in there. An absolute angel.
But.... I can not tell a fib. The crib actually looks like THIS when Levi sleeps in it.

Tee Hee Hee.
Thank you Glam*Ma and Grandpa, for the things you do for my little family.

ReplyDeleteWow! Your mom is seriously the best hostess ever!! I strive to be like YOUR mom when my kids are grown and out of the house. :)
ReplyDeleteCan I come stay at your moms?? LOL
ReplyDeleteWow! Your mom does such a great job preparing for you guys to visit! I hope my mom does that when we come to visit!
ReplyDeleteJosh's parents created a nursery at their house when Cub was born, too! It DOES make visits so much easier!! Your parents seem great!!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! How did you ever get the strength to leave home :)
ReplyDeleteWow - your mom is truly an extraordinary lady (I know you know that!) Everytime you post about her and the special things she does for you guys, it warms my heart. I want to be the same kind of mom to my kids and make them feel treasured and special too - you are already that kind of mom to Levi. You are truly blessed with that momma of yours Whitney.

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful hostess your Mom is!! I want to be her, too!!!
ReplyDeleteYou ARE very blessed, Whit! Be thankful your mom can afford to be that kind of hostess. So many moms out there WANT to do that kind of thing but don't have the $ to do so. It can be heartbreaking to desire to give and not be able to. I'm thankful she can provide those things for you and your family!
ReplyDeleteYou are so very lucky Whitney...and so is your mom to have a daughter like you. I so wish Cassie would appreciate the things I do for her and little Liam (whom has yet to grace us with his presence!), but all I ever get is attitudes from her...ahhhhh, kids!
ReplyDeleteHugz,
Michele
