Yes, I'm having a fun time coming up with new names for my sweet nephew. Max is just such a fun name to work with! I went for a visit today, so I could get some good bonding time in with the little man.
And guess what?
He opened his eyes.
JUST for me.

If that's not the most precious thing on planet Earth, I'm not sure what is. He loves his Auntie Whitney. I'm pretty sure I'm his favorite aunt.
Wait, I'm his only aunt. But nevermind that.
He LOVES me!
I got to touch him, too. He was the softest little thing. I had to be careful because his skin is so very sensitive, but I couldn't help but stroke his pretty hair. He is a love.

He is doing so very well. I want to thank those of you who prayed specifically for his arm and the infection. The nurse came in today and said his arm looks fantastic. Praise God!! Keep praying for that, please.
And pray for his little eyes. That he would have zero vision impairments in the future.

Hollie got set up with pumping yesterday and was able to get some food out for the little man. Today, he got to eat it!!! (This is HUGE!) It went through a tube in his nose, of course, but he got to eat it nonetheless. And he is also doing fabulously with his sucking refelx! They've been testing it out and today he sucked on a pacifier. Wow.
Thank you, God.

(Check out his BLONDE hair! It is just adorable!)
Hollie got to change his teeny tiny diaper.

Look how ITTY he is compared to her hand!

He's been laying on his tummy a lot. It helps with his lungs. His lungs are still functioning wonderfully. Praise be to God!

I can already tell that little Maxwell is going to be FULL of personality. He wanted to show me how wide he could open his mouth today. He said, "Auntie Whitney, I may be teensy, but my mouth is not! Please go get me a cheeseburger!!!"

I replied, "No, No, Little Max. I will get you one in a couple of years, I promise. But right now, you better stick with your Mommy's milk. It will make you big and strong."
And....here's what he thought about that!

We love you, precious boy. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Remember that always.

Please continue to pray, and remember to grab the button on the top right of my page to help get the word out. God is doing MIGHTY things in this Mini Man's life. Thank you guys for playing a vital role through prayer.

He is just so precious and gorgeous. What a little miracle. Prayers continuing for Little Max!
ReplyDeleteStill praying for sweet baby Max! He's truly a miracle baby. Stay strong!!
ReplyDeleteI posted about sweet Max on Thursday & added him to my sidebar. Your pictures of this little guy are so amazing, I can tell he's a real fighter!
ReplyDeleteMy prayers continue.
Hugs,
Carol
Such a miracle! God is amazing, isn't He? Still in prayer...I love the updates.
ReplyDeleteMax is so cute :) Some preemies aren't ... but he is!
ReplyDeleteYou should consider yourself quite lucky to be able to see him at all - most NICUs now are closed down to everyone but parents, and sometimes grandparents, because of the swine flu epidemic deal (I know it sounds mean, but it's for the safety of all the little babies - swine flu would kill them.) I'm honestly surprised that your hospital is letting you come back ... but enjoy the privilege, and always remember to wash your hands (like an OCD person) and use that lovely little alcohol sanitizer stuff in the unit :)
Continuing to pray for the little guy!
I have been reading your blog for a while, but never commented. Please know that we pray for Max every night! He is just beautiful!

ReplyDeleteI happened to stumble upon this, and I just sent out a mass email to all of my friends and family with a link to this blog, along with a prayer request. We are all praying for this precious baby and his family & will continue to do so! God be with you all!!

ReplyDeleteLove that little tongue!
Great pictures, Whitney! Keep those updates coming. I'm so glad that Max's parents are getting good news from the doctors. What a blessing he is already.
ReplyDeletehe looks so good for being so early. i'm glad things are going so well, considering everything. you might have mentioned this already, but i didn't catch it. what caused him to be born so early? most of the premies i know of were born early b/c their/our moms had high blood pressure. was it anything like that?
ReplyDeleteMiracle Max is beautiful. I can't wait to see more pictures of him as he grows big and strong!
ReplyDeleteHe is precious. I will continue to pray for this little miracle.
ReplyDeleteMiracle Max is a handsome little man...I bet Levi can't wait till his cousin Max gets big and strong so they can play! :)
