I managed to have my baby boy at the prime season of fashion for new Mommas. It's as if all of the great designers got together and decided to create the perfect post-pregnancy clothing just for me. Thank you, fashionistas. I owe you my life.
You see, once you have a baby, you must sit around and wait for things to deflate and firm back up. The first 3 days post-delivery, my tummy seriously felt like jello. I could feel my organs floating around trying to find their way back home. It was quite disturbing. Now, as I wait to lose these last pounds, I am stuck. My maternity clothes are entirely too big (and even if they did fit, I would not wear them. I am contemplating throwing them in the woods somewhere and setting fire to them), and my old clothes are entirely too snug.
I am in between things right now, and have found the perfect solution to my wardrobe needs.
The Maxi Dress.
They are perfect because I can still buy my regular size since they are so flowy and full. They hide my flabby tummy (and thighs) and provide the most luxurious comfort! They are my life line right now and the great thing is - they are EVERYWHERE! I purchased three this weekend. Here are two of them:

Now that I think about it, I should have worn these while I was pregnant. Ultimate comfort and they would have hidden my swollen legs and feet just perfectly! Hmmm...maybe they'll still be in style in my next pregnancy. ;)

awesome. glad your finding cutesy comfy clothes!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I love a maxi dress. My count is up to three as well...but I see more in my future...! ;)
ReplyDeleteI have recently purchased a few of those as well. They are adorable. Hannah and I prefer to call them "town gowns" (Old Navy started the trend of calling them this). I much prefer "town gown" to "maxi" dress. I wish the title would have caught on. Somehow, I feel thinner if I call it a "town gown" instead of a "maxi," you know??
ReplyDeleteMaxi dresses are the best! Perfect for comfort and cuteness AND maintaining some sort of modesty when on the floor with a baby! :)
ReplyDeleteThose are so cute!! Where did you get them?
ReplyDeleteI am totally loving the long styles right now. I'm a tall girl and it makes me look even taller. Yeah!
ReplyDeletewhat a great idea! THose are adorable! I wore sweats... yuck
ReplyDeleteVery cute dresses! Levi is a doll as well. :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute dresses. I've been contemplating getting one, but I just don't think that I can pull it off. You've always been such a little fashionista!
ReplyDeleteYou did look so cute in your maxi on Sunday. I have been trying to get Katie to get one so I certainly pointed you out to her! Maxis were in style when I was in high school. I loved them.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! And I need to go and get some! I haven't bought one yet!
ReplyDeletethose are gorgeous! i'll have to get some!
ReplyDeleteI am not a new mommy but, I love the maxi dresses. I also happen to be short so I thought It would look horrible on me but, I happened to find one that doesn't drag on the ground and my hubby loves it on me, too. I've been looking to get another one. It feels like I'm wearing lounge wear but, it looks great and is an instant outfit. All that to say, I agree with you! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I've never heard anyone say they felt like their organs were floating around after having a baby! That is so freaky. I'm disturbed just hearing it but thanks for preparing me! :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd maxi dresses are love. Glad you've discovered the awesomeness!
These are the cutest! Love that black one...where did you get them?
ReplyDeleteHugz,
Michele

ReplyDeletethose are really cute :)
cute dresses! I love maxi dresses!
ReplyDeleteI had to wear my maternity jeans for at least 3 months after having my first baby. I could not fit into anything! I lost a bunch of the weight right away but things were not in the same places as before. thank goodness I was evenutally able to wear all my old clothes again, but it was a good 6 months before it all fit. I'm a bit worried now that I'm preggers with #2. I hope I fit back into my clothes the 2nd time around!

Let's see ... Caleb has always been a little eater (hence, a little baby). He took in about five ounces of breast milk (it's always hard to know exactly) six times a day until he was five months old. Then he went to six ounces five times a day. Now he's on formula, eating six ounces four/five times a day (formula's a bit bulkier than breast milk!). We started giving Caleb rice cereal for breakfast when he was four months old. We'd give him his regular feeding and then give him cereal. Always do the feeding first, since most of their nutrients are still coming from breast milk/formula! So, right now, at eight months old, Caleb takes six ounces of formula for breakfast and a bowl of rice cereal and prunes, then for lunch he has six more ounces of formula and a container of fruit and a container of veggies, and then for dinner, six ounces of formula plus a container of fruit and a container of veggies. Then six ounces before bed. He just now started going to four feedings a day. It's different for every baby. A good friend of mine had a baby that went to four feedings a day by the time her baby was four months old! There's no way Caleb could have handled that. So, it just depends on the baby!
ReplyDeleteWow. That was the longest comment ever.
Did that even answer your question?? :)
