Nightmare City.

I keep having these strange and somewhat terrifying dreams about motherhood. It is a recurring dream, so that kind of freaks me out. Here it is: I go about my day as usual and at 10pm, realize that I haven’t fed Levi all day long. Then I realize that he hasn’t even cried….so I think something is horribly wrong with him. Immediately, I try to feed him anything I can find. Last night, it was applesauce.

I’m pretty sure newborns aren’t supposed to eat applesauce.

Anyway, it is a scary dream and I hate it. I always wake up in a sweat, trying to determine if it was real or not. Then I feel my rock hard basketball shaped belly and breathe a sigh of relief in knowing that Levi is still tucked safe away inside my body. And that he’s not starving.

Phew.

What about you? Any weird recurring nightmares while pregnant? Or am I the only psychotic mom-to-be out there?

In other news, my tummy is really starting to get in my way. Yesterday at lunch, I spilled something directly where my belly button is. Then, wouldn't ya know, my chest rubbed up against something and made a giant stain that I could not get off. If that's not humiliating, I'm not sure what is.

On the way back to my office, I stopped in the restroom because well, that's where I spend the majority of my time. Levi loves to kick my bladder. So as I am washing my hands, the water shoots out of the faucet and sprays all over my already-stained-in-two-places shirt.

Nice.

If that wasn't bad enough, my super cute Tory Burch flats that were making up for my bad day started to fly off and I kept having to readjust them as I walked. My hair was a wind-blown mess, my tummy was knocking over everything in sight, my back was throbbing with every step I took....I was quite disheveled.

I can say with 100% certainty that my third trimester has been the hardest for me by far (this stinking BACK PAIN makes it near impossible to do anything). Also, it also has been the most exciting. His little nursery is falling into place (and will soon be revealed), showers are planned for April and mostly, this trimester is crazy exciting because my little Levi will be here before we know it.

And I will kiss and snuggle with the little love that has been given to us by none other but God Himself. I can not wait.

Let's just hope I remember to feed him.

  1. I have to agree with you, on both the nightmares and the stomach getting in the way. I have had some CRAZY dreams about pregnancy and motherhood...and well, its just werid! and yeah, the stomach is always bumping into things, getting things spilled on it...i have just come to accept that its part of how it goes. or maybe i am just that clumsy!!

  3. That would be a sight to see-Whitney in a stained shirt, looking disheveled! Pictures please. Glamma will be calling to check on him so much that you won't have a chance to forget to do anything for Levi. No strange nightmares for me while pregnant but I have known others who had them.

  4. OH that is a bad dream. I definitely had nightmares and since my children were born, the nightmares have changed...but I won't go into detail because I don't want to put any ideas into your already terrified head.

My 3rd Trimester was the hardest for me both times. Only, as embarrassing as this is, my issues were sweating profusely (we lived in Hawaii at the time, a runny nose all the time and tooting. And not the polite little "pfts." Oh no, these toots were some serious toots. I'd just be walking through the grocery store and I'd have to do the classic, "looking around and giggling" bit so that no one would know it was me.

Pregnancy is a magical time indeed.

  5. Trust me...you wont' forget to feed him! I had weird delivery dreams throughout my pregnancy. Nothing since though. Sorry about your back pain. I can relate. I had a pinched nerve in my back that started in my 2nd trimester and didn't go away until I wasn't pregnant anymore. Horrible! Here's hoping you can be as comfortable as possible.

  7. I used to have dreams that I kept drinking alcohol when I was pregnant! Oh, that was miserable. It's funny how vivid they are during pregnancy, too.

  9. you're poor little belly! my only consolation to you is that I'm not pregnant and I keep spilling things on myself! I hope your nightmares soon go away, and I'm pretty sure little Levi won't let you forget to feed him! ;)

  11. I hear you!!!!!

Baby H is getting in my way these days, too. Both in terms of me being sloppier and bumping into things, and replacing my normally adventurous or fun dreams with baby worry dreams!

  13. I've had a couple dreams that my little one falls out of my tummy (like the movie Aliens) and is this little baby, and my hubby and I are rushing to the hospital to save her. I too, wake up and realize that I'm still pregnant. Scary, scary.

  14. Yah, I've been having some weird ones too! They normally involve Lil Gooner arriving too early and I don't have any diapers. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. And my tummy knocks over every thing too! eeeep, this is God getting us ready for labor!

  16. I still struggle with nightmares. They are the worst. My nightmares are always related to my worst fears at the time - the kids running out in front of a car, getting kidnapped, etc. Horrible. I will pray for your nightmares to stop - they are no fun.

  20. Those types of dreams are very normal. I had nightmares when I was planning our wedding, every single day...did I order the flowers? did I get my dress altered? etc. lol. since its in our mind ALOT it stays there and then we dream about it.

  21. Obviously I haven't had any crazy pregnancy dreams, but I did have tons of bad wedding dreams before my big day! And I have had several mommy friends who mentioned bad dreams; one chronically dreamed that she gave birth to a kitty cat! heehee.

  25. I've been reading your blog for a couple months now, and decided that I would finally comment today because we have a lot in common lately. I too am pregnant, 32 weeks, with a boy that I am naming Levi. My sister introduced your blog to me because she thought it was funny that we are very close in due dates and naming our boys the same. And I can totally relate to the belly getting in the way. I've started tucking napkins on top of my belly when going to restaurants which invites stares and laughter, but at least my shirt stays clean.

  26. haha, i don't think it's psychotic at all to have crazy mom dreams. it just means you're going to be an awesome mother and love Levi more than life itself. they could make a sitcom episode based on your disheveled day the other day. bless your heart. just wear a tarp. or go get you a giant bib or apron to wear all day. you're pregnant, you can do whatever you want.

  27. I didn't have nightmares while pregnant. But didnt you used to dream about putting RJ in your cookie batter and stuff...
    haha...what a dreamer you are!

  28. I'm pretty sure that you will remember to feed Levi! You need to go get a pregnancy massage. Or make Darin learn some OMM for pregnant women. Can you see your feet?? I don't think your belly is that big yet--just wondering...

  29. I had that same dream over and over both pregnancy's. I would all the sudden be in a panic realizing that I hadn't fed my babies. I will let you know that I have never once forgotten to feed my daughter. I always had nightmares about not being able to breastfeed the baby wouldn't latch on I would just forget it was awful but wouldn't you know it I was able to breastfeed. You are going to be a great Mom I wish I could tell you something to make the bad dreams go away but it seems like pregnancy brings out crazy dreams in all of us. Have a great night!

  31. Thanks for the comment about my kids!! Yeah your bro is great and an awesome friend, when I realized last night it was him I had to text him right away! LOL

I had similar dreams when I was pregnant with my 1st son as well. It was either I didn't feed him or I forgot about him. I think it just has to do with worrying about being a mother or something! You will do fine and absolutely LOVE it!! Being a mom is the greatest!!

  32. i know my mom said she had a re-occurring nightmare that she was being hijacked and so to "save" her baby she stuffed it in the gas tank. obvs, babies can't survive in gas tanks...she said she would wake up in a panic! (but my brother and i are both fine!) :)
