Iced In.

Our weekend away was great fun and much needed. We slept a lot, ate a ton and shopped until we dropped. It was delightful to be away with my husband with no thoughts of school. Finals are over and he had his best semester yet! He did fantastic and I am super proud of him! He works so hard and I know it has to wear him out. It wears me out just watching him do it! :)

Can you believe that I took my camera and did not capture ONE picture of our entire weekend? That is so unlike me. The crowds everywhere were unspeakable on Saturday. There were numerous times I wanted to slap down the person in front of me or yell at people to move faster. I was being a bit of a scrooge after a few hours of the chaos. It was absolute madness!

We had some great meals while we were gone. We found this little Italian restaurant that is hands down my new favorite. Too bad there isn't one in my town. The food was outstanding. The salad...oh, the salad. Don't even get me started. It was heaven-on-a-plate. I am not sure that I've ever had a salad that tasty. And the chicken parmesan was ta'die for. I loved the place and can't wait to return.

We finished up all of our Christmas gift shopping which is such a relief!

When we returned Sunday night, we settled in on our cozy little couch and watched a Hallmark Christmas movie that Husby tivo'd for me. We turned out all the lights, except for the trees, and relaxed while watching our movie. An ice storm moved in and sleet was hitting every window in the house! It was so loud. I woke up Monday morning with a phone call from my boss saying that work was cancelled. PRAISE THE LORD! Husby started singing (he was excited I got to stay home with him) and commanded me to get back in bed and we slept, slept and slept some more.

We had big plans of cleaning the house top to bottom, but guess what we did instead? We laid on the couch and lazed around all day long. It was fantastic.

I hadn't gone to the store to prepare for the ice storm, so I had to scrounge up supper with ingredients we already had. It turned out wonderfully, though. We had pork chops, stuffing, green beans, mac-n-cheese, and cheddar bay biscuits. What a successful ice storm supper. :)

I hope your week is starting out as good as mine!

  29. I've been wishing for a snow day but hadn't considered that an ICE day would do just as well. Bring on the ice!

  30. We got just enough ice to keep my husband in bed until 7:30. Not nearly as wonderful as a full "sleep in morning", but it beat his usual 5:30 am departures. I don't know how he tears himself away from a warm, toasty bed piled high with quilts. I know I can't do it!
