My Dear Little Darling,
Levi, you are FOUR years old today! When I told you I didn't want you to turn four because I wanted you to stay my baby forever, you said, "Well, Mommy. I will be four, and I will be a big boy .... but I'll still be little," as you wrapped your little arms around my waist in your typical encouraging manner. My angel, if I could freeze this moment of time in your life, I would. You are the sweetest, kindest, smartest little big boy I have ever had the privilege of knowing. I am so proud to call you my son.
You continue to be the precious little soul that you have always been, and just when I think your heart can't get any more lovely, you go and surprise me. I'm not just saying this because you're my son, but Levi, you have the most precious heart I know. You are so sincere, so sensitive to others' feelings, and for lack of a better way of saying it or describing you, you're just very aware of life. It's like you "get it". You are wise beyond your years, and I know that this is a gift from our God.
I've known you were special since the moment I laid eyes on you, but as each day passes and I get to know you more, I just absolutely can't wait to see what God has in store for you. I have no idea what it will be, because you have many talents and many interests ... but I know you're going to do something great. You ARE someone great. Your Daddy and I are so blessed by you!
You make us laugh every single day; you've got such a wonderful sense of humor! You have such a vast vocabulary and often make people laugh by the large words you use and the ability to use them correctly. You are a rule follower to the core, and you have a great self confidence. You are polite, mannerly, and a charmer deluxe. To know you is to be in love with you. And baby, SO many people are in love with you. But none as deeply as your Mommy.
We have such a great relationship, you and I. I told you the other day that you were one of my best friends and you laughed and said, "but Mommy, I'm your little boy!" I went on to explain to you that your family can be your friends, too, and that his Daddy is my very best friend. He smiled and said, "Mommy, you're my very best friend." You don't know how this melted my heart! You and I have so much fun together and every day with you is truly a gift. I thank God for our relationship and I pray it only grows and deepens with each passing year. You and your Daddy are best buddies, too, but in a different way than you and me. Each relationship is just so precious, and so very special to us.
In your baby brother's eyes, you are a superhero. He loves you with his whole heart, Levi, and even at this young age, he looks up to you, respects you, and wants to be like you. And what an amazing role model you are for him! You are so gentle with him, and always looking out for him. You play together beautifully and truly are the best of friends. You understand that you are older than him and so you are always trying to teach him things - like sharing, putting away toys, etc. He's blessed to have you as his big brother, Levi. And he knows it.
You sweetheart. As I'm typing this you are in the kitchen with Daddy as he waits for you to finish your supper (now eating ... well baby, you're just not very good at it. You are the pickiest eater in all the land, and geeze louise, what a chore it is to get you to EAT!). I just overheard you say, "Daddy, I'm gonna go kiss Mommy. I'll be right back." Then you ran in here like The Flash, planted a big one on me and said, "okay, I gotta go finish eating." Haha! This is such an example of who you are, and how you make others feel .... like every person you are with is the most special person in your life!
You are such a teeny tiny little adult, and you always have been. People always think you are way older than you actually are ... especially after having a conversation with you. At the end of every day when Daddy comes home, you say, "So, Daddy. How was your day?" It's hilarious. Then you just sit and listen and ask lots of questions. Tonight you asked Daddy, "So, tell me about the cases you saw today." HA! But the thing is, you truly want to know the details! You have the most inquisitive little mind, and if you don't know what something is, you won't leave it alone until it is properly explained (in great detail) to you. Such a curious little guy! You love to learn and your memory is like a steel trap. I've never seen anything like it!
Your Daddy and I cover you in prayer every day, precious boy. We pray that you will always have a sensitive heart to the things of God. That you will draw yourself closer to Him as you grow into a deeper knowledge of who He is. We pray for your friends, that you will always surround yourself with godly influences. We pray for your future wife, that she would strive for holiness, even at a young age. We pray for your choices, that they would always go before the throne before coming to fruition. We thank Him for you. We praise Him for you. As your parents, we give you to Him every single day. How we pray you give yourself to Him, too.
I could write a novel on who you are and how you bless others, my love. As I look back over what I've written already, I realize that I haven't even scratched the surface. Levi, you are special. And more than anything, you are loved. With our entire hearts, to the moon and back, and to infinity and beyond.
I love you, baby boy.
Happy, Happy Birthday!
