Growing up, we went to the creek a couple times a week every single summer. It was my brother and my favorite thing to do - playing, swimming, jumping off rocks and watching the fish swim by was the perfect way to escape the summer heat and make amazing memories. There are several creeks over in the town we grew up, but there is one that stands out ... Blue Hole.
Blue Hole is a spring fed (so the water is cool and clear) old fashioned swimming hole. And that's exactly what it is - a hole! And it's blue! The water is downright FRIGID, even in the 100+ degree temps. The cool water stays between 56 and 60 degrees throughout the summer, and if you aren't prepared, you're in for a shock. It is so peaceful and serene out at Blue Hole. It is absolutely beautiful with rocks all around and a gorgeous waterfall. If you walk on down from the "hole", you find a fast flowing stream that branches off to more bodies of water. It's the perfect spot for summer days.
When the boys (Levi and his cousin Maxwell) were finally old enough last year, my brother and I began our trips to Blue Hole. They absolutely LOVE it. We all prop our lawn chairs in the shallow part and keep our feet in the ice cold water. The boys go out to the "hole" to swim, but I'm telling you, it's much too cold for me!
Ezra had his first experience a couple of weeks ago! Here's some pictures of our most recent trip.
We walked up to the lunch stand and had a picnic in the shade!
The boys had a blast! I love to see my boys and Maxwell making great summer memories at the same places my brother and I did.
