I'm Not Good At "By Myself".

I like togetherness. I rarely like to be completely alone for any length of time. Sure, a nice hot bubble bath with music and all doors shut is fun for .... oh, about 15 minutes. And then I like to come out with my bright pink legs and greet my boys to settle in for some real fun.

My idea of "alone" always includes Husby. I'd rather be alone in a room with him doing our own things, than to be by myself doing those things. The rest of the world around me requires my attention, but when I'm alone with Husby, I can just BE. And I love that about our relationship.

Through different rotations Husby has done over the past several months, some of them included working nights, mids (noon to midnight) and other various not-so-fun schedules. I don't mind a bit being at home with Levi alone during the day, but there is something about the sun setting that suddenly makes it lonely. I don't do evenings and nights alone well at all. Especially when Weebie goes to bed.

The doors are locked, the blinds shut tight and the gun comes out. I don't mess around.

Evenings are boring without Husby. Television isn't exciting, food doesn't taste good .... it's just no fun! Weebie toddles around chanting "Dadda ... Dadda ... Dadda ...." and with any tiny noise he hears, he turns and looks at the door, hoping to see The Daddy. I have to admit, I catch myself toddling around mumbling "Husby .... Husby ... Husby ..." under my breath too, sometimes. He just has that effect on people.

Husby makes everything better. He brightens our evenings and when he comes home, it's as if he brings in rainbows and sunbeams. He is simply a wonderful guy to be with, live with, and walk through life with. Simply put... he's my favorite.

  1. That is exactly how I feel about my Hubby! When he used to work nights I hated it. I go to work, happy to get through the day and be back with him :)

  2. I can tell you love your family so much. I love reading all the sweet things you say about your husband. I get so sick of women bashing their men, it's refreshing to see someone loving on hers. Thanks for being so positive. :)

  3. I feel the same way! I wish my husband worked from home so I could spend every second with him. BUt unfortunately he is a cop and works nights every other week for the past 5 years. You do get used to it after a while...but I still miss him!

  4. I feel the exact same way! My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family and my sweet hubby is my best friend. We homeschool our children and I love the extra time that gives me with them. I wish my husband worked from home so he could be home every day with us too!

  5. My husband is a firefighter and I am an EMT so we both work ridiculous rotating shifts that last 24-48hrs at a time. Add in nursing school and other part time endevours and some weeks we only see each other a couple hours. Its not easy, but I always tell myself that he could be deployed over seas for months at a time instead!

  6. I feel ya! I am so not ready for residency. I keep reminding myself of all those scheduled days off this month.

  7. That's so sweet! I agree. I would rather do things with John, even if it's running errands or doing chores. YAY for husbands!

  8. Amen. When my Hubby had to work out of town for 2 weeks, I went into mourning. And I get very bored, and very paranoid home alone at night.

  9. Being an Army wife I am alone a lot. He is gone for months at a time sometimes even for more than a year. I don't like being alone either but I have gotten used to it. It really makes you cherish those times you are together, even if its only for a short time.

  10. I feel ya. Mine is deployed right now until next February and I'm fine during the day with my two little girls and our busy schedule, but as soon as they go to bed, and I'm left alone...well, it just plain sucks.

I'm having such issues just trying to fall asleep.

You're hubby is a lucky man to have such an adoring, affectionate wifey :)

  11. I have to admit that I don't mind the occasional evening alone. Since I rarely get to read or watch t.v., I don't mind those rare nights that I can curl up with a good book or movie and eat whatever I want on the couch. I'm an introvert though, and I lived alone in college and loved it.

  13. Aww so sweet. I feel like that when hubby travels, and that's why I now have a little man that likes to share the bed with mommy. Oops.

  14. I love when you post about Husby! You guys are so happy and it makes me happy to be around you (in some cyber way...).

  15. I totally feel the same way about Andy! I completely agree with what you said about I'd rather be with my husby than to be alone doing the same things. Andy is my absolute favorite, and I'm so glad it's that way. It makes me sad to hear some women complain about their mates, and I feel like they're missing out!

  16. I know exactly what you mean!! It's even worse for me and my husband, because we both work out of the house. So we're constantly together! <3 Which is just a dream come true for us, but then if we're apart from each other even just a normal work days worth... It seems like ages lol

So glad to see so many other girls who love their guys!! <3

  18. My Mr. has had to travel, sometimes even for week(s) at a time. The first day is okay - but I agree - that night time comes and it's all downhill.

Know that this is only temporary! He'll be home in your arms in no time!

  19. It's wonderful to hear a new generation of wives talk positively about their husbands. Knowing how much you love them is probably one of the reasons they are such fun to be around. You have that power by respecting and encouraging them. I am fortunate to have been married to a great guy for almost 36 years!

  20. This sure makes "husby's" momma smile! He always had that affect on me, even when he was very young. :)

  21. I've been reading your blog for awhile, but have never commented because I didn't have a blog myself! I feel the same way when my husband is out of town, which would be tonight, and the reason why I am online at 12:30 am! I just cannot sleep when he is not here!

  22. My boy is doing his PHD and has a whole bunch of experiments he has to run. He will sometimes stay at the lab for a full 24 hours running experiments....And he just doesn't understand why I'm still awake when he gets home.

Falling asleep in an empty bed is hard to do.

  23. I used to be the same way with my boyfriend when we first moved in together. Sadly, not so much anymore. But you are very lucky to have someone that you love being around so much.

  24. That's so funny; Marty and I will tell each other all the time -- "You're my favorite."

I know exactly how you feel.
