A Silly But True Story.

Once upon a time, there was a pregnant lady who so loved her first ultrasound, that she went to great lengths of obtaining another.

"La-La-La, It's really late at night and I should be in bed, but I'm surfing my favorite blogs and singing this pleasant song....not a care in the world, not an hair-brained idea in my noggin."

"Hmmmm.... remember that ultrasound I had yesterday? That was fun. Baby Lovie was SO cute in there. I wonder what he's doing now? I wonder...hmmm...I wonder how I can see my Baby Lovie again? Hmmmm... I wonder if there is a way...."

"Oh WAIT! Remember the x-ray vision on my computer?! Maybe, just maybe I can take a picture of my stomach and catch a glimpse of my baby!!!"

She contorted her body in strange ways trying to get the computer to face her stomach. This was no easy task. She took about 5 pictures altogether of her pregnant tummy. She eagerly analyzed each photo only to see a belly button (that belonged to her and not the baby) and nothing more.

"Rats! It didn't work."

"But I did get a cool picture of my hand and my profile!"

"My eyes look somewhat terrifying in that x-ray picture. I wish it would shoot through my skin and take a picture of baby lovie, and not just my belly button."

"Uh oh. What if I hurt Baby Lovie by holding my computer up too close to my belly? What if the x-ray picture sent harsh waves of x-ray'ness into my uterus?"

"Uh-oh-Uh-oh-Uh-oh.WhatdidIdo?WhatdidIdo? What if I blinded him? I hope he wasn't looking into the camera. What if it was like looking into a microwave for him? What if I messed up his teensy little brain? How could I be so stupid?!"

She frantically googled imac x-ray pictures from photo booth and realized it was absolutely harmless to a 10.5 week old fetus...or any other fetus for that matter.

"Whew, that was close. I better just wait until the next ultrasound to see Baby Lovie. This "taking-things-into-my-own-hands-and-trying-to-outsmart-the-doctors" business is much too stressful for this chica."

And then they went to bed.

The End.

  7. You know, you can buy home ultrasound machines. Of course, with the money you would spend on one, you could've paid for a year or two of college for Baby Lovie, but still...

  17. I love it! You could be like Tom Cruise and buy a sonogram machine ... except that he is totally creepy. Nevermind. Don't do that. But I applaud the effort!!

He DOES smell clean and fresh! I will highly recommend Aveeno lavender baby wash to you. My first bit of unsolicited baby advice! :) It's amazing. I can't wait for you to see your baby's first smiles, too. Your heart will melt. People will continually tell you that newborns can't smile, but that's crap. I've always thought it was crap. How can they know if the smile is "real" or not?? You will love those smiley moments! And it's going to come very very soon!!

  19. Even though i don't know you, I enjoy seeing that you love your baby just like most every other mother in the world. It's very sweet to see. Every new baby you have, you have a love affair with.

  25. That is so funny. I remember the days of irrational fears when I was prego with my babies. I thought if I laid out in the sun, that baby would get cooked. The crazy things our hormones make us think! Our babies are sooooo protected in our tummies, isn't it amazing how God created us?

  26. too funny...and I recall these feelings so vividly. Can I suggest buying a Babybeat Heartbeat monitor? You can at least hear Baby Lovie's heartbeat. I was addicted to mine for all 3 of my pregnancies and 4 children later (twins), they are all healthy and normal so don't worry!

  29. congrats on your pregnancy! My sister is a little more than 5 months along and it is so exciting to know I'm going to be an auntie. :) It's wonderful to know there are other girls out there who want to be wives and mommies more than anything. I'm glad to see another young woman talk about marriage and motherhood like it is a privilege and adventure and not a hindrance.

I really enjoy your blog. Thanks for letting us have a glimpse into your life and for sharing your excitement with us!

  30. Don't worry--you'll learn! Some babies do well on a feeding schedule and some don't and you'll learn what's best for Baby G (and then he/she will totally throw you for a loop ... so nice ... :))!

And yes, you can totally call me at 3:00am!
