Good Friday.

I have so many thoughts swirling my mind and heart this Easter, and hopefully I will be able to pen them soon. For now I want to share this classically beautiful hymn that's been on my lips for days during this Holy Week.

I simply cannot sing these words without flowing tears! Tears of sorrow, of grief, of humility, of such complete gratitude and overwhelming JOY that I'm driven to my knees!  You guys. The very God of the universe sent His one and only Son to die.

For you.

For you.

For you!

He has wiped your sin away. He has cleansed every stain. He loves you more than you could ever imagine and wants everlasting life for you.

What promise! What hope!

This hymn, one of my treasured, is especially poignant today, Good Friday.

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.

See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

His dying crimson, like a robe,
Spreads o’er His body on the tree;
Then I am dead to all the globe,
And all the globe is dead to me.

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.
