Together Days.

The weather here in Oklahoma has been abnormally delightful this summer.  Eighty degrees in the middle of August?  What better way to enjoy a day outside with your family than at the zoo?

Husby worked a 24 hour shift on Thursday which means that he got Friday off!  Perfect!  When he works those dreaded shifts, the only light at the end of my ever so long tunnel is knowing that he'll be with us the next day.  Of course, if he didn't get any sleep the night before he has to spend half of his day off sleeping ... but lucky for us, he got 6 hours of sleep at the hospital and we got to enjoy him for the entire day.  The boys were ecstatic!

(Have I mentioned that I am beyond ready for residency to end? One more year! The light! The looooooooooong tunnel!  It's getting brighter!)

(Of course, then we head into another year of fellowship, but goodness ... we are ALMOST DONE.)

So!  The zoo!

Our zoo is pretty lame in comparison to most of the zoos I've been to.  But, they are making some great headway with various renovations and expansions, and that makes me happy.  It gets better and better each time we go.  But to two little boys, any zoo is a magical place.  We had so much fun!

The train is always a highlight.  Ezra absolutely LOVED it.

We watched a sea lion show that was really fun.

Oh, those baby curls.  I can't even handle it.

The boys were pretty infatuated with the flamingos.  I was, too.  They're such odd little creatures.

And ya know, they're not really pink.  They're more salmony.

Note that they're standing in front of massive giraffes and they're more concerned with their slushies than anything else.

They got SO excited over each and every animal (contrary to the photo above).  Ezra especially loved the big turtles.

I have no idea what they were doing here, but it makes me laugh.

The petting zoo is always a big hit.  But I wish they'd put something in there other than goats and rabbits.  Ha!

This is Ezra upon arrival to the petting zoo.  He was making this face and grunting/mumbling something under his breath and I was dying laughing.  He was so nervous and didn't know what to think!

See Husby's hand on Ezra's back?  As soon as he moved his hand, Ezra would take off running to him.  He wanted the comfort of daddy's hand as he brushed the ferocious beast.  Er.  Goat.

My precious Levi.  This photo captures his personality perfectly.  Gentle and SWEET.

We had such a great day enjoying each other without any other distractions.  I love my little family more than words!

I cherish these times and thank God for giving us these days exactly when we need them.  We are now headed into the new week encouraged, refreshed, and with full and happy hearts.
