18 Weeks.

I took this picture 2 days into 18 weeks. Then I went to sleep, woke up and my stomach was even bigger! I guess they were right when they told me a growth spurt was coming. I will post pictures next week at 19 weeks. You will be impressed at what a mere week can do.

Here's another angle. It's fascinating to watch my body grow!

I go to the Doctor today. I can't wait to see my little Levi again. A month seems like far too long to wait in between seeing my little fella. I am sure he has grown SO much...like his Momma! :)

I am wearing full maternity clothes now, because none of my old stuff fits. It's too tight and uncomfortable. Maternity clothes are so freeing. They should win an award.

I feel Levi most every day now! It is absolutely incredible. So precious, so sweet, and so very bizarre! I love it. I wish I could feel him ALL the time. He is most active when I am very still - especially at bed time. I think he kicks me to say, "night night Mommy, I love you."

I wonder if he can feel me rubbing him? I pat him all the time and tell him how sweet he is. He is my little buddy.

When I stop and think about the fact that I have a human life growing inside of me, that I carry around constantly, it kind of freaks me out. I mean, how strange! I am never alone. It’s never “just me”. It is always me and Levi. How incredible!

It’s mind blowing, really.

I think of him as my little buddy that I tote around. He goes where I go. He eats what I eat. He does what I do. He is literally a part of me. How very bizarre. I know him so well, yet I don’t know him at all. It’s so weird to think that he never leaves me, but I have never met him.

I never really thought about how astounding pregnancy is, but now that I am going through it, I am constantly amazed! It’s just the strangest, most wonderful thing.

I bet it is a strange thing after you give birth. I bet I will miss him riding around inside me, forcing him to be my little buddy. I mean let’s face it, he has no choice. He is stuck in there being my little buddy no matter what.

We shop together, we work together, we sleep together, we get ready together, we cook supper together, we laugh together, we drive the car together. We are constantly together.

We talk all the time. Well, I talk. He listens. He’s the best little listener I could ask for. He never talks back, never tunes me out, and never disagrees with me. He’s my little buddy.

And he’s fantastic.

  3. Oh, I miss that part of pregnancy - the part where he's all yours and you don't have to share him with anyone else if you don't want to! ;)

  8. It IS crazy to think about carrying around a little human! I always thought it was kind of nuts that I was carrying a little boy ... I was a girl, and there was a boy growing inside me. Craziness! But oh, so wonderful. You'll love having a little guy!!

  9. With each of my three babies I was so glad to finally meet them but was always a little sad that they weren't just mine anymore. I loved being pregnant, even with the sickness. It is an amazing thing.

  18. When I was a little girl, I used to pretend to have a little fairy that went everywhere with me. Like Tinkerbell. I made her houses out of shoe boxes and fed her dandelions. I loved her. And even when I was out somewhere, I pretended she was riding around with me on my shoulder.

Being pregnant, its like my little fairy friend is back. Only now she lives in my stomach and, literally, kicks my guts.

    What a blessing!

  20. Well said! This is my second week back at work after having my little one and its crazy how "un-pregnant" I feel now that I'm back in my old routine! All the little things we did together, I now do by myself. Enjoy it, he'll be here before you know what even happened!

  22. It was bittersweet when I gave birth to both my babies. I missed them being inside me for a while. But then so many new things start happening and I soon forgot about it and was so focused on having them outside of me, it all worked out. Reading your blog makes me want another one :-) I want to experience all those feelings again.

  23. I thought it would be weird to not feel the baby inside of me anymore after I gave birth, but in all honesty, with the adjusting to being a mom and the surgery and the lack of sleep - I was too tired! Besides, what you get afterwards is WAY better. :)

  30. Let me first say, that I LOVE your blog. I found you off of Tales From Goshen's page and I'm hooked.

I just had my second girl 6 months ago and as much as I'm NOT a happy preggo person, I do miss that feeling of your life being more intertwined with some one else's that it's hard to fathom.

You will miss him once you give birth. You'll find yourself rubbing your tummy only to giggle when you realize that there's nothing but a belly button there to rub anymore. But if you do choose to breastfeed (which I agree with "husby" on this one)you still get that closeness and the incredibly special bond that comes with being the only person that can provide for your baby in that way.

You look awesome, by the way. By 18 weeks, I had already gained 20lbs!

  31. Awww Whitney...you're going to be a great mom!

I remember after I gave birth to both Cassie and Mark, I missed them inside of me so much. Even tho I was holding them in my arms, I was still lonely inside!

  34. I thought I'd miss my little "ridealongs" too and I do now, but by the time they were born I so wanted to get them out. I was tired, big, puffy and ready. That's the great part of being pregnant even if you're a little nervous about childbirth. By the time 9 months rolls around you are ready to get unpregnant!
